A Bastard Named Sleep - 1. Chapter 1

After months of struggling, sleep finally claimed me.

Sweet! Peaceful! Drifting!

It didn’t matter that the sun was still shining or that the rest of the world was awake… I belonged to him.

I lulled in a dreamless bliss.

He sat on the edge of the bed watching me.

I could feel his eyes on my skin.

His fingers ran through my hair.

Lips softly touched my cheek.

I heard my name on his breath, a hushed whisper against my ear followed by his evil laughter.

“Wake up!” He shouted and slapped my face with his cold hard hand.

His rejection stung like a million heartbreaks.

Startled! Shocked! Awake!

Sleep had eluded me once again.
