Chapter 8 Playing to Win
charlieocho commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 8 Playing to Win
I am completely in awe of how you are writing this story. In spite of the violence on the ice, the unsavory characters of Lanny and Candy, and the dilemma the two men face in coming to terms with their feelings for each other, you manage to imbue this story with a wonderful sense of gentle delicacy. It is unlike anything else I have read, and I am finding it very comforting and quite addictive. Thank you. -
Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
charlieocho commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 5 Ace in the Hole
Up until this point I have resisted the temptation to review this fine story. From my perspective, the other reviewers were covering all the bases, and I never felt like I had anything extra to add. Although I still feel pretty much that way, I find myself enjoying this story so much that I simply have to add my two cents worth, also. I am amazed at how deftly you are weaving this together. You portray such powerful, intense emotions so gently, but so thoroughly. A fine job of writing. Completely enthralling. Thanks. -
Summer by Carlos Hazday

My first visit here, and what a blast. Adds a whole extra dimension and dynamic to the story. So as to the slow cooked steel oats....it does come out very soft, but I always toss in dried fruit...figs, raisins, whatever is on hand, and I like the convenience of not having to watch over it and stir it, which I had to do, using the stove top method. Plus, I was never patient enough, and my results when cooking on the stove were never fully cooked. I am a huge fan of crunchy food..raw almonds, dark chocolate, raw veggies...yum, but the steel cut oats kept coming out grainy and gritty until I stumbled upon this style of cooking. Just saw your mention of scrambled eggs with green chilies and onions,,,,I think I will do that for my breakfast this morning. I just have to watch the hot sauce (my fave--Tapatio from Guadalajara), I have a tendency to drown everything in it, and it overwhelms all the other flavors. Moderation is not often in my vocabulary. Cheers. PS: I use a slow cooker/crockpot, not a pressure cooker.- 561 replies

We Take Care of Our Own
charlieocho commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in We Take Care of Our Own
The playful banter between practically everybody stands in such contrast to the venom spewed by the egg donor and her consort. Definitely creates a comfort zone. Another enjoyable chapter, thanks. PS: I never had any luck with steel cut oats until I stumbled on a recipe using a slow cooker, and cooking it on low, overnight. Deelish! -
Chapter 2 Know when to fold 'em
charlieocho commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 2 Know when to fold 'em
The level of emotion in this story, so far, is exhausting. In spite of that, I have been drawn right in and am anxiously (!) waiting for more. Good job. -
This sucks.

Oh good....another little gem. I feel a strong, steady beat, here, the way the story is unfolding. A comfortable pulse of action and detail. Please, sir, I want some more.

The Gayest Man in the Whole World
charlieocho commented on Cole Matthews's story chapter in The Gayest Man in the Whole World
Incredible....I kind of feel a little bad at how fast I rushed through this story. I just got so hooked by it. I understand all the time that went into creating it....it is almost disrespectful to gorge on it so quickly. But it is so fine. I am truly amazed at what a great job you did, creating all these different threads and then pulling them together, so well, at the end. Bravo. Am trying hard to be forgiving to Peterson....the jury is till out on that, however. -
And I thought this story was winding down! More excitement. Wes and Angus are a great couple. The circuit party did not sound like fun. I love loud music and light shows but I need my personal space most of the time. Hope Wes recovers quickly.

Gotta love it when it suddenly feels much hotter.... A big sigh of relief at Angus and Wes getting together....ahhhh! And I would just like to echo Carlos's remark...you've managed to turn a fluffy little piece into a very engaging, enthralling tale!

And I have been feeling sorry for poor Peterson...hah, no more....the rat bastard. Wes deserves much better treatment. Make it happen, Cole! Great group dynamics. Sounds like another fun party, with the exception of Peterson, of course. Fine writing.
