Dutch - 5. Chapter 5 Goodbye Friend

“What’s up?” Kevin’s smile was genuine.

”Well, I’m glad you asked. I need some help installing an engine. I have a new lift with electric hydraulic controls coming, but there’s some kind of delay. My current lift is reasonably easy to control, but the stop pins have all either broken or been lost. Cindy has helped before, but she and Denise went off to her mothers and won’t be back for a few days, with her momma having a hard time and all. Do you have a little bit to help me out. I sure would appreciate it.” Jeff was almost begging at this point.

”Well, gee Jeff, what’s in it for me? You know I have a ton of people wanting my company since I’ve only been back for a couple of days.” Jeff is smiling at Kevin because this kind of back and forth has been the bedrock of their friendship. “Tell you what Jeff, if you promise to help me find a good old truck, I can trust, then I guess I can help you out of your pickle.”

Instead of turning to go find Dutch, he’s heading the opposite direction. Kevin loves to help out when he can, really for just about anyone. Pulling up the driveway seemed eerily familiar. Well, years ago it was on that old moped and now it’s a supped up version. Jeff’s been busy, his pole barn has had a new addition. The house has obviously gone through some remodeling as well, so it looks like Jeff has had some good success.

”That’s good Kevin, just leave your bike there, I ain’t gonna have anyone else coming by today, so nobody will mess with it. Come in this way, that lift is just in the back from here.” He lead Kevin into a large area with several stations for repairs, One of which Kevin recognizes is for changing oil. Kevin had been in a trench like that many times to change oil while in the army. Then he was lead into a smaller area which seemed cluttered with junk at first glance. Kevin scanned the area and realized it was strategically placed pieces and parts from the 4x4 truck he’s putting the engine in.

”You’ve been busy! This is awesome, I knew the first time I rode that moped, it purred so sweet, you were gonna be a huge success.” Kevin patted Jeff on the back as he scurried past to gather everything he’ll need.

The whole thing only took about 3 hours. Jeff was efficient and thorough. The day had been heating up as they shimmied and tweaked to get it in just right. Jeff had taken off his shirt to try letting the sweat evaporate some. Seemed like a good idea enough for Kevin to bare his extremely defined chest and a rocking 8 pack. Jeff was as toned as Kevin, but he had a well built workmen’s body. At some point the top button of Jeff’s pants had come undone and it became a focal point for Kevin. Watching the body move as the fabric seemed to perfectly frame each position. When Jeff was on his back applying maximum effort to something, he lifted his knees high and his abs flexed tight. When that task was done and Jeff’s legs came down, that gap in his pants was wider. Kevin could clearly tell Jeff didn’t have underwear on. The distinct pattern of pubes were getting exposed. Sweat was starting to get the denim wet and define which direction his dick pointed.

”I heard a couple of Cindy’s younger friends talking about tracking you down. The way I see it, right now you got the pick of the litter. If I were you and built like that, I’d try Sophie out. You might remember her older brother Sean from school, he’s about your age.” Jeff had come up beside Kevin and wrapped an arm around his waist to reach for a socket wrench.

Kevin knew exactly who Sean was, he was in the class right after his. Kevin even remembers the little sister. She was a down right beauty queen even at 10. No doubt she’d grown to be quite the looker. “Yeah, well I figure I’ll let time put it together. I feel like I need to get my life on track before wrangling a girl into marrying me.”

”Yeah, well don’t be too surprised when time has a different plan.” Jeff stretched his back by reaching in the sky. “Damn back has been aching lately. I was taking a tree down out back and pulled something in my back. It’s getting better everyday. Hey, why don’t you hop up in the driver’s seat and turn the key when I say.”

Kevin enthusiastically climbed up and looked over the interior while he waited for the command. However, absolutely nothing happened when he did turn the key. Jeff came up next to where Kevin was turned in the seat. “Stay right there, I think I know what the problem is.“ Jeff put his elbow on Kevin’s thigh as he leaned in under the dash. Kevin noted how close it was to his shaft, he just hoped Jeff wouldn’t notice his hardening cock. But, the harder it got the more he wanted Jeff to see it. Kevin studied Jeff’s eyes as he finished with the dash and started backing out. There was a definite moment when Jeff looked right at it and slid his hand over it to steady himself as he stood. Almost as if it didn’t happen he returned to the engine and had Kevin turn the key. It started immediately but was rough. Quickly Jeff ran back around to reach under the dash, only this time his hand lay over the entire length of Kevin’s dick. Whatever ever Jeff was doing, under the dash and above, worked. Before he backed away he used his hand to press the accelerator to rev up the engine a couple times.

”Wow, that was awesome“ as Jeff pulled away and had Kevin shut it down.

“I’m going to take a piss and I can make us a sandwich, how does that sound?” Jeff had already passed through a doorway and begun washing his hands. Kevin stepped in to find a rudimentary men’s room put together with left over materials. There were two sinks, one with a cabinet to the right and one on a pedestal to the left. Straight ahead there’s a urinal with all of the plumbing exposed. It looks like he found it in a junk yard, but it’s good enough. Next to that is a divider made from 2x4’s and pieces of plywood. Obviously the left overs from the building’s construction. Two pieces had holes for plumbing or electrical, Kevin had seen that type of construction on base. Some of the guys used it for putting their dicks through to let a willing comrade help their loneliness. Kevin opened the squeaky door and went in the cubicle to find a proper shitter inside. Kevin really only had to piss, but he wanted to see if any of the holes are positioned to see some dick at the urinal. He didn’t wait long. After Jeff had his hands dry he walked up revealing his semi hard as he let out a forceful piss.

Jeff turned towards the hole with a hardening cock, “If you swear to never tell anyone, I’ll let you suck my dick.”

”Why would I ever tell anyone something like that?” And Kevin found out that was the perfect answer as Jeff got his cock and balls through the hole. Kevin considers himself new to this, so he tries to think about what others have done to him. On one hand, it seems natural and easy to suck on it. But, on the other hand his technique feels awkward and labored.

”Kevin, I wanna try, I have always wanted to try it with you. Can you get it through the hole?” Jeff had already pulled out and got on his knees in front of the hole.

Kevin stood up sticking his cock through the hole and seemingly right into Jeff’s mouth. If Kevin really hasn’t done this before, which Kevin believes he has, then he really dreamt of what he wanted to do. That married mechanic had the perfect suction with the perfect grip. He moved on that dick like it was his career. There’s only one thing that can happen someone works like that. Only minutes into it Kevin was pressing into that hole as if try to climb through. He held onto the top of the wall to gain support and leverage. As Kevin’s legs began to twitch and shake he could no longer breathe. He opened his mouth wide as if to scream and the only sound that came out were the intense pants that began as he filled Jeff’s mouth. Jeff didn’t even slow down, he just kept sucking as if it didn’t happen. Kevin thought about how much he loves to cum and just keep going for one more. Jeff was doing great, and he would soon enough get his reward. The moment Kevin shot again, Jeff stopped to let it just fill his mouth while panting hard through his nostrils. No doubt about it, he was busting right then. Kevin left the restroom first. He managed to get his shirt on before Jeff came out.

Jeff got his shirt and almost whispered to Kevin, “Are we good?”

Kevin was staring at the floor as if it was able to answer whether this was something he’d always wanted, or was it just some fucked up curiosity. When he looked up he looked shaken, “Yeah, we’re good.”

”Look, nothing has to change. This is something for me that is animalistic and raw, period. It isn’t life changing or anything I would want to live my whole life by.” Jeff had moved directly in front of Kevin.

” I know you’re right, it isn’t the first time I’ve fooled around.” It stewed in the air a minute. “It’s just, it seems to happening a lot lately. But, you don’t see me chasing down Sophie or any other girl right now.”

”I hear you, but I wanna ask you, would you want to marry a girl who would be so casual about getting off?” Jeff had started moving things around the shop to sort out the mess.

Kevin knows he would want a good girl to become a loving partner, “But, what if I can’t stop, or she’d realize what’s up?”

”Women don’t want to know that kind of thing. It’s better they think of us as ignorant women chasers. When guys are too careless, those women will make life a living hell. This whole thing is best kept under careful consideration of who may be around to know what’s happening. There are plenty of times and places in life to let loose of your inhibitions, but you may find that there is plenty of time to devote to family.” Jeff put a hand on Kevin’s shoulder and Kevin pulled him into a tight hug. “Go on, get your ass home, but swing by tomorrow about the same time if you want to talk about this truck here.”

Kevin’s eyes got as wide as his mouth when he heard that. “Don’t tease me Jeff, I am not emotionally stable enough to be played right now.” Kevin was grinning from ear to ear.

”Go on now, GIT !!!” Jeff smilled and patted Kevin’s tight ass. As Kevin made the road Jeff blurted out, “Damn that boy tasted better than I ever imagined. I gotta get more of that.”

******
Kevin left on his motorcycle, more confused than ever. With the day’s events, and hours of riding in the sun, his energy was mostly spent. He wandered through his parents home finding his dad in the family room sleeping on his favorite chair in front of the TV. In the winter there’d be a fire crackling next to him is about the only difference. Kevin’s momma was in the laundry room washing most of Kevin’s old clothes. “Momma, you are the best mother in the entire world. But, you don’t have to do that for me. I Am capable, the Army made sure of that.”

”Did the Army explain that your mother wants to do all she can to keep you happy, and that she will want to do this for you while you are home?” She mocked scolding him.

”No Ma’am. they failed to mention that one. But, I will be sure to write my superiors to inform them of their oversight.” He kissed the side of her neck. Kevin changed his tone to something very serious, “Momma, it didn’t go unnoticed by me, but with coming home and getting out, I didn’t ask. I think I know the answer, but I gotta ask, where’s Bear?”

His mother stopped her folding and had a genuine sad face. “Oh my baby boy, I’m so sorry. We couldn’t find him for a couple days. We were searching everywhere.” Kevin couldn’t hold back tears but he refused to all out cry. “Your father found him by the pond under the old oak, the one you would sit under with him. I guess it was his way of saying goodbye to you. Your father buried him there, he marked it with a cross and his collar.”

”I’m going out there now.”

The walk was difficult enough when he wasn’t crying, but he had a hard time keeping his balance as he wept for his best friend. Soon enough, he found where he laid, and fell to his knees. He held his collar and could still smell his scent on it. “There will never be another dog as good as you. I look forward to seeing you in heaven.” then continued to tell Bear all the things he loved about him.

Kevin cried himself to sleep right there next to Bear. He only woke to the sound of something moving in the darkness. Not from fear, more precaution, he stayed quiet so not to provoke a wild dog, or even a real bear. “Kevin, are you out here?” He heard Dutch call out from about 10 yards away.

”Yeah, over here.” He heard him getting close. “Down here.”

”Your momma called worried sick about you.” Dutch explained as he moved up close to Kevin’s side. At this level his eyes could adjust to be able to see Kevin’s face.

”Thanks, that was good of you to do that for her.” His gratitude was cold and flat.

Dutch could understand his sadness for his dog, but he sensed there’s more to that tone. He took his time, mostly trying to come up the best words to say he doesn’t want to lose his best friend. Thing is he isn’t sure Kevin will respect anything he has to say. ‘Here goes everything’ “Kevin, I’m sorry if I lead you to think I don’t have any feelings. I just am afraid to mess things up. The only thing I want, is more of you in my life. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to take you away from making a life for yourself. I just want to know that we will always make time for each other.” He wants that to sink in. “I’m hoping you want to spend time together, no matter who gets married and kids. All I really know for sure is I want you in my life, till the day I die.”

The silence was deafening and started to make Dutch want to leave. As he began to shift, Kevin grabbed his arm stopping him. “I’m scared. What if we wind up hating each other and people somehow find out what we’ve done?”

“Are you serious Kev? Do you honestly believe, if any of the people we love knew we fooled around, that any of them would hate us? Because I don’t, I know these people, if anything they might be scared for our well being, out of love and compassion.” Dutch felt that all the way down in the depths of his soul. “I tell you what, Kev. I will make you a deal. If you hate life here, you and I will sell everything and move far away. No other men or women will come between us.” Dutch is really going out on a limb here. “We will not confirm nor deny, to anyone, the extent of our friendship. When they ask, ask why would it make a difference, or why they’d even ask. Be sarcastic with some, and say we kiss each other all night long, or that we take turns wearing dresses before bed. Kev, my point here is, we go on behaving exactly how we always have. How many times have you pointed out to our friends that I like your butt? And, I always have, by the way. Or, how many times have we danced a slow dance together, in a goofy, but awesome way? I want that.”

“Wow.” Kevin was just blown away. “Where do you get this stuff?” There is one more piece for Kevin to consider. “What are you going to do about Darla? She’s beautiful and sweet. Are you going to marry her, because I think she figured it out?”

”She’s also my lesbian house keeper. She has the whole 3rd floor for now, but I am planning to build a guest house for her, and maybe a couple more, to rent out. She does add a certain confusion to the mix, and I like that.”

Kevin couldn’t hold back his feelings. He began crying and weeping. Dutch grabbed him and put Kevin’s head on his shoulder. Dutch started rocking while letting his hands enjoy the warmth of Kevin’s arm, back, chest and underarm. Dutch kept kissing the top of his head. “Dutch?” Kevin sounded so wounded and Dutch just hummed ‘mmhhmm’. Each word that came out of Kevin was slow and deliberate, so full of emotions “I want that, all of it, at least till we are ready for something different, maybe even together someday. I think, I have always wanted that with you, but didn’t know how to voice it. Thank you, Dutch.”

Now it’s Dutch’s turn to cry uncontrollably. Those are the words he prayed for every night, since they met. There were plenty of times he believed it would never happen, but he just couldn’t let it go, because he knew he is in love with Kevin, even if Kevin never really loves him back. All Dutch could say was, “I love you Kev.”

*****
It was no surprise to Kevin’s mother when he told them he’d be moving in with Dutch. It really wasn’t a surprise to his father either, the boys have been best friends since they were little. Kevin’s mother believes she has spot on ‘women’s intuition’ ability that men don’t have, especially when it comes to her Franky. She knew Dutch was head over heals in love with her baby boy, she’s just doesn’t know if he will ever see it. In her mind she could see two possible outcomes. Kevin wakes up and tells Dutch he can’t help him. Or, he falls for Dutch just as hard. Either way was fine with her. She worries a lot how Franky will take it, there are not a lot of gay cowboys to use as examples. Not to mention the town folk possibly thumping their bibles at them.

Franky knows more about what’s going on around him, than his Mily gives him credit for. He loves his children, every single one. He’s worried how any of them will get along on life. Franky saw the same thing in Dutch that Mily did, it was probably long before she did. Mily remember’s the day Franky asked her to help set up a picnic by the creek. Franky needed the boys to help with a mile of fencing that needed replaced. He knew full well he’d only be able to hold the attention, of two 12 year olds, for so long. With Mily making a picnic, not far from where he’d have them working, he might be able to get a little more out of them, after they let out their steam and get a fill up.

When the boys saw Mily and Kevin’s sister’s, they took off like lightning. Frank went along to rest and eat something as well. Kevin has always been Franky’s, Dare Devil. He pretty much believed he’d never see that boy turn 18. He announced he was going to climb the big tree and jump into the deepest pool of the creek. Dutch, begged and pleaded as Kevin got higher. The higher Kevin went the more panicked Dutch became. Nothing phased Kevin, no big surprise. So, Jeranimo, and Kevin took a flying leap. They’d all tried to stop him, but Dutch carrying on like that was something different. Before Kevin came up for air, Dutch was in the water to save him.

Kevin had broken his arm that day, and Dutch cried harder than Kevin, even with his broken arm. The boy kept saying, ‘I don’t want to lose you, what will I do if I can’t see your face.’ Dutch never was, and isn’t now, a sissy. He would woop your ass if you mistreat his people. Everyone in this town has seen him do it at one time or another. But, that boy never put anyone before Kevin.

Mily, had a harder time reading her boy. Of course Mily saw Kevin looking at Dutch like he’s the prettiest thing in the county, but everybody here knows that Dutch IS the prettiest thing. That boy turns every head, but he only had eyes for Kevin. At sleepovers, Franky and Mily would look in on them. Honestly, neither ever knew what they might see, but the only telling thing would be, Dutch spooning Kevin. Franky and Mily filled their heart with love for both of these boys, and would forever sacrifice their own life for either one, no matter what becomes of their lives.
