1940, 1970 and Today – plus other poems - 11. A Tanka for Father's Day
.
Poem No. 27
Yet wanting more than passion
One part of wisdom could fall down to me
One that sets the fashion
When it dances to set all of us free.
One part saying other parts to me.
Poem No. 28
Tanka:
Sitting on his arms
A man holds his sleeping son,
Never suspecting
The boy breathing on his neck
Takes future memories of him.
Poem No. 29
Give me a boy who walks in beauty,
And all the rest will follow.
Poem No. 30
Yet the heart retreats to a hunger bold,
And old woes will sometimes new wails decry,
Not letting new grief luxury in old
As hope can oft better senses deny.
