Like a Train Wreck - Prologue. Prologue
Prologue
You know what’s funny?
It's funny to have a dream of the perfect life and the perfect love. To work for years to achieve that perfect life and that perfect love, to become obsessed over it, to work and work for it every single day, to go through pain and heart break just to try to make it happen.
And when it finally does happen, you feel as if everything you went through was all worth it. You finally sit down and allow yourself to be happy. You stop worrying. You feel as if you are on top of the world, as if nothing can tear you down.
And then it happens.
After all of that ... all of it just falls apart.
Within the hour everything is gone.
That perfect life, that perfect love … shattered
Then everything goes back to the way it was before.
And … You're completely alone.
October of 2009
Just as everything had gotten as bad as it could have possibly gotten in his life, he realized that tonight had been no comparison to the previous tragedies and heart breaks in his life. Who is he? His name is Miracle Hart. A lonely boy who only ever wanted to be loved by someone … anyone. Just a boy who wanted to feel special, and who wanted to feel as if his life really mattered to someone. A boy that just wanted to know that he wasn't worthless.
While all of those things finally came to pass for him, it didn't last. Not like he had hoped it would anyway. Everything just changed; nothing would be the same between Miracle and Jaemin.Miracle stood there in the bedroom that had once been a sanctuary of their love and held the memories that they’d shared together. Now it was just a place of death and destruction. Not only was he surrounded by it, but he had also become covered in it. He was covered in the blood and death that had just taken place within the room and his body trembled as he stared at the dead body that lay upon the bed, dimly hearing the sound of screeching tires as the car outside drove away.
His face was soaked in tears and he could only watch as Jaemin moved away from the bed and out the door of the room in such a strange and hauntingly calm way.
"Jaemin?" he cried out in a soft tone, looking down at his hands before he moved to follow him all the way down the stairs only to find Jaemin sitting down in the frame of the opened front door.
"Jaemin?" he called softly, but there was still no response from his lover.
Miracle slowly moved over to where he sat and kneeled down in front of him to look into his eyes.
That was the night that Jaemin had died. Not a physical death, but an emotional one. He just wasn't there anymore. The light that had shone in his eyes had faded, faded away like a light bulb that was losing its battle for electricity.
For Miracle, it would be the biggest heartbreak that he had ever known.
Teenagers always think they are ready to make their own decisions, but if given the opportunity to do so, they would crash through years like a train wreck and leave nothing but mistakes behind in their wake.
