Along the way he finds triumph and tragedy . . . and some surprises, a rarity for this newspaper veteran. DISCLAIMER: This is a fictional account involving romantic same-sex relationships among teenagers. Although no sexual activity takes place in this story, there are references to gay sex and anyone uncomfortable with this should not be reading it. All characters are fictional and any resemblance to real people is purely coincidental. Although the portrayal of a certain rock star in the story may bear a strong resemblance to singer-song-writer John Mellencamp, the author in no way implies that the views expressed reflect his actual opinions.
