Euphoria and Other Poems - 2. Chapter 2

I

They don’t talk of April showers here

In the wettest part of Asia

Where they have continued to feel

Hot and global warming is not real

They say more about the weather

Than the paltry sullen faces of men

Underneath the harshest sun

Human kind has ever seen as

Evergreen flats turning into

Burnt tortillas on the islands

Of hypocrisy and madness and fear

I love the final three lines; ...burnt tortillas on the islands of hypocrisy and fear. This is an image that will stick with me for a long, long, time.
