This story was a look at how one family in a different culture (India) handled the fact that their son was gay, but it doesn't mean everyone in that society felt the same way.  In fact, as the story went on it clearly showed that in some ways our societies are not that different, and it wasn't about how they react to gays.  To find out what I'm referring to, you'll have to read this interesting short story.
