Scars - The things we bare - 3. Fixer of the Broken

Recently I was told I am good at mending others but shouldn't I take the time to fix me. Gave birth to this poem.

I know what I am

I know who I am

I’ve forgotten what I want

I’m used to doing this

Walking in and smiling

While my heart is torn out

There is never a miss

Always a direct hit

I hold the hand, smile, put them back together

I listen to the pain

I make it my pain

They say I luv you and slip inside

The word is never love

The meaning is never love

I wouldn’t know true love

I mend their shattered parts

Glue back their cracked up hearts

Smile while say they care

I put them all together

Hear their lives are starting over

Knowing I’m forgotten like the trash

I am simply there to help them

I am simply there for them

I am nothing they really want

I smile as they tear my soul out

I hide the pain as my heart is shredded

And push them down the road to new love

I always attract the broken ones

I should know I am a broken one

I fix them but can’t fix me

I’ve lost what I could be

I’ve lost who I could be

I’ve become what never should be

They find me still as I am aging

They present the broken parts

And still I find I can still give

I fix them up again

I push them to love again

I know they can still love again.

I wonder when it’s my turn

Will it ever be just my turn?

Who fixes the fixer of the broken?
