Eye Am: Collection - 3. Hurt Instead

You said we were best friends and then

I said until the end but I

Regret my confession that you

Had my heart inside your hand

I hadn't learned that one lesson

Don’t ask for love you just get hurt instead

Though I try I can’t seem

To erase that one misdeed

Inside my head where I can scream

I’d cry and sweat and gladly bleed

Give you everything you need

Won’t ask for love I just get hurt instead

You blink your eyes and look away

Only pathway to save face

So I mask my heart with clay

Fabricate a perfect day

Can’t ask for love you just get hurt instead

I will stop time and then I’ll

Press rewind

Take back that honest line

Console myself

with reason and rhyme

Won’t ask for love I just get hurt instead

You said we were best friends

And I said until the end

Convinced my desire’s dead

Eyes shut tight

Just nod my head

Don’t ask for love I just get hurt instead

I'll bury my frustration here

Smile when you hold me near

Deny myself and ease your fears

Actions might speak loud and clear

But if I've learned anything here

Can’t ask for love when love has been long dead
