Time - 1. Chapter 1

There was a time

When time itself

Meant nothing to me

Time neither flows fast

Nor slow

I’d wake up in the morning

Played most of the time

Ate when I got hungry

Took a nap when tired

My only concept of time

Was that I have to go home

When it gets dark

And I’d be sad

There was a time

That I was young

And all that I wanted

Was to be older

I couldn’t wait to grow up

Wanted to try things

Meant for someone older

I was impatient

To achieve my dreams

Go through grown up experiences

Now my wish

Is for time to stand still

There was a time

I was in love

And I was loved in return

Everything seemed

Beautiful then

The sunrise always had

That extra shine

Laughter came naturally

The simple things in life

Were appreciated

Happiness, contentment

I miss them

Time

If I can only grab you

To stop you from moving

Maybe even turn you back

I would in a heartbeat

But as you are so appropriately

Represented by sand

The tighter I clasp you

The more you escape

I’m powerless against you

But I’m not giving up

I won’t let time

Leave me in obscurity

Little by little

Am going to keep up

A small step in time

Is all it takes

I will succeed

Only time will tell?

I think not

The future is mine
