Menace's Collection - 9. Better As Friends Than Lovers

We're actually best of friends, destined to be together.
Yet, everything I felt, I actually thought it was an illusion.
You said that you loved me, you said that you admired my passion.
At the same time, it feels as if you're just saying it to repay me with kindness.
Being friends with you was better than being intimate.

You are my best friend and my confidant.
Close your eyes and you can see that it's hard to go back.
We mistook true love from a harmless crush.
A crush that killed our friendship.
Our romance is not for us to be intertwined.
So, we should just let it go.

Being so close to you, I know that only friendship is the possible choice.
Don't embrace me like we are family, and you shouldn't force yourself to hold my hand.
I was so in love with you, but your sympathy stopped me dead.
Once we cross this line, there's no going back.
Maybe, our friendship of what we had before was all we needed.
A stroll in the park and a simple meal after. Then, we have nothing left to say.

I loved you once, as a best friend.
But as a couple, that kind of love has extinguished.
Even when we say that it isn't.

We counted the lamps on the streets as we walk, as we bare our souls .
Are we saying more than needed?
The blooming flower of love wilts as you touch my hand.
All that remains is the secret love that I've had for you.

Being so close to you, I know that only friendship is the possible choice.
Don't embrace me like we are family, and you shouldn't force yourself to hold my hand.
I was so in love with you, but your sympathy has stopped me dead.
Once we cross this line, there's no going back.
Maybe, our friendship of what we had before was all we needed.
A stroll in the park and a simple meal after. Then, we have nothing left to say, but to part ways.

I was so in loved with you, but your sympathy has killed my passion.
Once we have crossed this line, we can never turn back.
But maybe, what we had before was all we needed.
We'll laugh about our mistake and part ways, bearing no ill will or hard feelings.

Because friends,..... resist temptation.

This is actually a song which is translated and edited to fit as a poem type.
