Soul Talk - 2. A Mother's Touch

A MOTHER'S TOUCH

A mother is someone
who endures the
hardships of her family,
still managing to smile

without her
They would be lost,
drifting souls in the void,
unable to move, to survive

she grounds them to earth
helps Them realise Their dreams,
even when They don't realise her own

here in her position
she willing takes
the physical and emotional tolls

she asks for nothing
and is paid with little
except the scraps
of her Children’s affection

through all this
her heart
remains glittering gold

she smiles simply
eagerly awaiting, to see
how the fruits
of her labour bears

she continues
these contractions
for years to come
knowing They will miss her
when She isn't there

Sweet Mother,
You do not know
The Acknowledgements
of Your Difficult Deeds

Mumma, the word
that starts your shift,
entangles the emotions
Your children forget
to bequeath
