Cat Parole

I decided to board my cat during my Thank giving trip to Texas at the vet but I waited too late. My usual vet was full. I had to shop around to find him a space. He doesn't travel well and gets horrible gas when he's anxious.

I was down to the wire and desperate. I begged my usual Vet for a referral list. Tuesday I went down the list. Animal Medical Center? No vacancy. Sullivan's Animal Hospital? No Vacancy. Cat Hospital? No vacancy.

OK it's closing in on 4:00 and I'm getting desperate. No way am I driving to Dallas with flatulent kitty. Two 80 year olds are enough of a challenge.

I arrive unceremoniously at the Bottom of the List: The Doggie Discipline Academy.

When I show up, I go inside with cat in carrier and am met by a gung-ho guy with short hair and entirely too much energy.

I say, "I'm going away for Thanksgiving and need to board my cat until Monday. Can you hook me up"

"Sir Yes Sir! We run $15 bucks a day."

I fork over the cash and the cat carrier and I'm off.

Monday Morning- 5 days later

I picked up Boo this morning. He was playing a harmonica. I'm not sure whether it is the dragon tattoo or his cold, hard stair that is most unnerving. It'll be quite a while before his tail is unpuffed.

:lmao: Too funny James!

I guess dogs are more forgiving than cats because when we put our dog in for our 2 week vacation a couple years ago, she was pretty much freaking out until we turned onto our street to come home and then she was fine again. But being totally honest I am much more of a kitty person and I hope Boo learned some good songs while he was in....

A friend of mine used to use a service for her pets when she was out of town. They came to her house daily. Name was 'Critter Sitters'. I always thought that was a hoot. :D

(BTW - I've been following 'A Funny Thing Happened...". You're also a hoot. :lmao: )

When I was about 11 or so, my cat (actually, my older sister's cat, but the cat herself made her choice of favorite clear) was pregnant, and about fit to burst. We were going down to Los Angeles to visit relatives for Easter, packing, and at some point in the process my cat had waddled up into the back of the Blazer we were taking, and proceeded to settle down for the trip. We just barely discovered her in time to take her out. The cat was an outdoor cat, not feral, but definetly self-sufficient and willing to take on the wilderness that we lived in, just outside of Yosemite National Park. Travel didn't bother her none, but my mom decided that the trip would be too much stress on a cat in her condition. My mom hates cats, so I didn't believe her, but I couldn't argue.

Three days later, we came back, and there were four kittens mewing in our garage. Boo-Boo (my sister named her) looked annoyed at us, and I wondered at the time if she had planned on having our assistance at crucial moment. But whatever, we cheered, and as soon as we had unpacked, she began moving the kittens one by one into my bedroom, in fact my sock drawer, where they remained until Boo-Boo saw fit to take them back outside. It was at this time that I discovered my mild allergy for cats.

I think Boo-Boo knew about the allergy all along, and that is why she had adopted me in the first place. At least the kittens learned to use the litter box almost instantly.

My cat starts to cry to go to bed at about 9:30 pm. Funny part is she wont go to bed unless I am in the room with her. See I don't need to be sleeping just in the room for her to rest.

Yes she sleeps in my room or rather on my bed, but it's ok she only bothers me when I need to get up.

Aww I'm sorry your cat didn't enjoy his little "vacation" James. I've only ever taken my Timmy and Lucky on about an hour and a half drive. Lucky's great (like always), and Timmy cries his head off (also like always), I'm not looking foward to having to move them to a new city lol.

I never let mine go into my bedroom. I suspect I also have a mild allergy and I don't want the fur getting all over anything I'd have my face by for very long. That and I'd never get any peace lol. Again Lucky takes this all instride and Timmy sees fit to attempt breaking down the door every evening.
