Hello There.

(It’s important that you read the title of this blog post like Obi-Wan Kenobi)

I’ve been debating whether starting a writing blog was a worthwhile endeavor. On one hand, I think it could be a fulfilling way to share some different aspects on the stuff I’m writing. On the other, perhaps it’s just another hobby that fizzles out the instant life gets busy.  Why write this when I should be finishing the book, you know?

Being back on this site has been pretty nice so far. I was here back in 2007-2010(ish?) A lot has changed, but there are a lot of things that have stayed the same. It’s sort of incredible how many usernames I recognize from those days.

My writing has changed. Back in college it was mostly fanfic (AU Hogwarts Harry/Draco/OC love triangle, woo!) It was fun, and a good way to flex some creative muscles. HP was a nice sandbox to play in, as there’s a lot of things to explore. I also had a couple of half-baked fantasy posts, one of which even featured a boy who could make force fields... how familiar!

Now I’m focusing on my silly superhero story, and I’ve been really geeked out by the comments and interactions it’s getting. I’ve been posting on another (non-LGBT specific) site, and the only people commenting there are my IRL friends. My target audience is definitely here. I should have known I’d be back.

As of today, I’ve posted just over 39,000 words for The Syndicate. My draft chapters, which gets polished/reworked/discombobulated before landing here, currently sits at 67k. Taking a total shot in the dark, I expect the entire story to clock in around 90K worlds. I’m already taking notes on a potential second story.

Ideas for posts:

  1. Character timelines (moments mentioned in the book, birthdays, etc)
  2. Character Profiles/Visual Guides/Costume Breakdowns
  3. Location Inspirations

So... yeah! If that seems like something you’re interested in, stick around.

I enjoy when the authors shared the character list, characteristics, relationships and abilities. As the story progresses the expanded traits should have chapter relevant spoiler alerts or perhaps the list and abilities can be expanded periodically within the chapter timeline by posting as an interlude ; of characters, back stories, or emphasis on relationships, or powers, that better support that character without bogging down the main storyline.

Huh 🤔 mind vomit ... pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Hahaha
