Walkers and canes help humans remain ambulatory into very old age. 

I'm grateful I haven't reached that stage yet.

Some people erroneously believe that ambulatory means needing an ambulance, but fortunately that's not the case.

Ambulatory can also mean itinerant. As a noun, it is a sheltered walking area.

In law, it's a document capable of being altered.
