The number of comments or blog entries I've deleted are legion, generally because I get worried about my sense of humour.

The saying that we (UK and America) are 'two peoples divided by a common language' it absolutely true, and our humour (humor - ) is different as well ... add to that the fact that it's really hard to judge mood, and individual tolerence from written posts and it makes your last paragraph absolutely spot on.
