In its original meaning, bailiwick was the jurisdiction of a bailiff, an official akin to a sheriff in medieval England.

I'll bet you didn't know there was such a thing as a Bailiwich Retriever.  It's a purebred Labrador Retriever that's bred with top quality Labrador Hunt Test and Field Trial bloodlines.
