Banal was taken directly from French whe re it referred to a feudal lord's right to charge fees for common use of any property in their domain, like mills or ovens.

Wow, what a change, from multi multiple syllable words to banal. Who ever said there are no dull word here, surprise!!!!!

The first example I came upon, seemed to be the perfect two cent one I was looking for(short and sweat).

If something is boring and unoriginal, it's banal. Banal things are dull as dishwater. Ever notice how some TV shows, songs, and even phrases are boring and unoriginal? It's like you've seen or heard the same thing a million times.

Banal is such a neat word. It can be correctly pronounced in a number of ways, but I like buh-NAHL myself.

YouTube is infested with banal AI-generated content. It's so painful to watch and listen to, I doubt authors will be obsolete any time soon.
