My desktop computer just decided it was time to stop working and just shut off. I try turning it back on and just get three beeps. So I'm on my labtop now =(

Did I mention all of my stories and just about everything was on that computer and that computer only?

I'm having the worst f**ken week.

F*ck  I would say to save also the stories on a flash drive.

Even if the computer is dead, you can still get your hard drive recovered.

Best case scenario:

Just a video card issue (going from memory) or a monitor issue

Worse case scenario:

Your computer is dead which REALLY blows!

BUT... here's the thing...

If you computer is dead... you can take out the hard drive and install it into a external 3.5" hard drive enclousure, which you can then use to copy all of your documents, music, etc from the hard drive to the laptop. Yes, it sounds complicated, but its rather simple when you do it.

Check out this site for deals on hard drive enclosures... it's good and I've ordered parts from there before and never had an issue

Got any questions i'm only a pm or im away :)

I have no knowledge on computer shit, but Eric seems to know what he's talking about, so go with that. And as Drewbie had stated, use a flash drive. I have one of those just for my stories since everyone in my family more or less shares the computers and my laptop when my sister comes for a visit.

Sorry my phone was on the fritz last night. Bad rainy weather and horrible service. Verizon being the best network, yeah, my ass!

You have been having a rough week. I hope the issues work itself out soon enough and in the meantime, enjoy your moody drama queen, you cradle robber. ;)

My computer did exactly the same thing. It turned out to be the fan. I got that replaced but then was told my computer wouldn't be able to talk to my OS without reinstalling it.

Since I have dual drives and willing techs, they transferred all of my documents to the second drive, reinstalled my OS and then transferred the files back.

I had them put in a larger fan so it wouldn't recur.

Good luck.
