Sara Alva Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 My review was getting long so I popped over here to finish it Oh, and as an aside, I just got back from watching The King's Speech, and now have and even deeper-felt compassion for stutterers. Just in case others haven't read, I suppose I'll put this bit in the spoiler thingy The end of this chapter was heartbreaking. Particularly the scene with Charlie, when he starts to cry and is stuttering as he explains to Karl why he calls him Karly . . . tragic and so completely vivid; I felt like I could see the moment. And when he tries to use his "magic" and it fails . . . man. Rough. I understand why Paul is upset. It seems like it's always best to tell the truth to the important people in your life as soon as possible, but then again I don't think Paul would have been too happy to hear it then anyways. Perhaps with the help of his friends he'll be able to see why Karl did what he did. Don't leave us hanging here for too long, Anyta! 1

It was especially poignant after we hear Charlie wishes Karl was his poppa too. I don't see why Paul has a right to be upset - well not really. Had Gillian actually said something more direct, then yes - but hers was so laced with innuendo that Karl had the right to hold that back, as for Timothy, he said he was going to tell Paul and frankly that is as it should be, it needed to come from them not Karl and again, short of actually saying it, whose to say he wasn't fishing for something - like, what's going on with you two - and pretending it's okay to get Karl to confirm their suspicions. Sue isn't exactly the type to stand back and give Paul slack in his life now is she?? Which begs the question, who's Mother/Wicked Witch - in-law is she modeled after hmmmmm . Two more then the start of (Un)masked - woo hoo can't wait for both. [sorry I saw Maria use this and I was like snap, me likes, so I used it too.] 1

Yep, this is the climax of story, now all is left is the resolution. Two more chappies. Don't imagine they'll be long ones either. Promise I won't leave peeps hanging too long. I've almost finished 21 anyhow (well, first draft, LOL--I'm just scared now my wrapping up of this won't be enough for some. Hmmm... I guess I'll see the reaction from readers. Might have to have a short epilogue too. (though epilogues always make me sad. I like to read a story to the end, and then imagine how it will pan out in my head. That way I stay happy, LOL- So, we'll see.) Thanks Andy, You're such a jewel for helping me so much with this!!! (Really peeps, I had real thick moments last chappy, LOL, haha.) So cheers there. As for who's mother she's modelled after. Um... heh, no idea. Nothing like mine, that's for sure. Or my hubs's. If anything, her behavior might be something I'd do myself in such a state of panic. Not that I've done this, but I can imagine in SUCH grief (actually, if my son died, I think I would too of a broken heart)--but if he had a child, I guess I'd be wanting the control as well. It's sort of like having your own child back. Hmmm... Anyways, it was a projection of how I imagine it COULD be. Frosty, Yeah, sad. 1

Looking forward to the next chapter(although sulking because it will be the last one.. ) as always! :) 1
