Sorry but I've gone and came back on Thursday. I think George will tell the Captain that he was good friends with his son and was with him when John died. I also think John's father will react will to this and do all he can to get George back to England. Mark, this was an outstanding chapter, maybe one of the best in this book and one of the top chapters in this saga. I have a great trip to St. Louis.

If Stef has a birthday and if it is July 14th and if he is still living he would be 68.

What is Kais secret? I like him and I think he and Will will become good friends. It good to see that Will, after blowing up, sent the second email to Tony. Tony has been damaged by his father he needs Will as a good friend. right now that is the most they can hope for. Thanks again for a great chapter and showing us more of Will and how he is growing up. It hasn't been pretty but in the end it will be worth it. I think Will will become an awesome person. Thanks again Mark.

One of the things I love about George is that he always thinks of others. Jardines is not an evil man, just troubled. When George returns to England, I have no doubt that he will be able to resend the banishment. That is really at the root of all Jardines demons. We see how hard this trip is going to be. George can't get to Egypt much before August. We have one messenger going overland and George's ship slowly working it's way back; Each stop maybe taking a few extra days. Plus the extra miles going around Africa. It may be a close thing but I can only wait for George to be reunited with his ship. Great chapter!!

I remember getting ready for work and seeing the first tower hit. I thought was this real? then the second tower. Oh God! it is!! I went to work but it was closed because it was on the list. Shock first, Unity second and then pride to be an American. No matter if any Cap members die or not they will be changed, sobered up. Just having all the planes grounded showed the country this was something awe full. I could see Darius, Gathan and maybe Tony signup. JJ and Tiffany get stuck in Europe of on the way back home. A number of characters could be in New York. I agree with David JP must live I think Will must live too. Lets face it for better or worse, Will is the future of this family.

What I found most interesting is that everybody forgot that Step was a huster in Paris. His was even about Kai's age. At this point I would trust Kai more than Scott. Something about Scott (Lark) bothers me. When push comes to shove if Will gets hurt by Scott. Scott better start running now. I think Will going to JP was a smart idea. Either Kai with pass and protect Will or He will be part of consperacy.

Two months is a lot to make up but Calvert still may make it. We have three ways to stop Maidstone, George, Calvert and the overland messenger. Maldstone's chances just got much worse. Again, Mark, your skill in weaving all the different characters into an riveting story which we wait for with eager anticipation. Thanks again for a great chapter, have a good trip.

"I get it now. Let's get the deal done." after all the bitching and moaning, all the anger, Their combined passion puts things at rest. Sometimes in this saga there are priceless moments and this is one of them. Brad and his son, Will, stand hand on hand over looking the surf. Nothing more needs to be said. It is the perfect picture. I was just reading 1968 and I found so many similarities with JP buying Escorial. Even down to the $10,000 earnest money. Great job, awesome chapter!!!

George without his ship is like a fish without water. If he can get to the British forces in Egypt then he will have a good chance of making home before Maildstone. This chapter showed us two difficult partings, . The one with Bertie was so touching. You could feel the love between them and even though they don't always agree , they do love each other. Even though Arthur and George just met they have a great attraction for each other. George will need all the luck and skill he has to find his way home. Thanks again for a wonderful chapter!!!

Long ago and far away, when I thought of JP returning to tell the story, I believed I was the only one who wanted that. I was wrong. There is so much in this chapter. Brad's relationship with Will. Can Brad trust Will or does he have to protect him? Only a few chapters ago we saw how strong their relationship is. Surfing unites them maybe sharing their love. From being upset with Will to Isidore opening the old wound. Brad and Will do not take rejection well. Then on a less dramatic vain is Mark hinting that Wade will be JP's heir? Last Jack over ruling Claire and letting John go on the trip says a lot. I think both Frank and Jack see that they need to do a lot of work. Feelings are strong it will take a lot for healing to begin. Again Mark you have shown us the passion that real families go though, which makes these characters even more real. Thanks again.

What I always loved about these stories is that fiction and history walk arm in arm. From the Duke of Wellington to the Battle of the Nile it shouts history. When Chartley left George I was worried about Georges chances. With Jardines as a guide I wondered about it even more. Now however I think George will get through Egypt. George is a forgiving person, very forgiving. So now the great adventure begins Danger yes, but still trusting in Mark's love for happy endings I can see George being a hero in Egypt and returning to England just in time to save his family and the government. It is unbelievable sometimes to see the pattern woven through the history of this period. How you do it is awesome. Mark you and your team are the best!!!

Will with he own house! I wonder how that will go! I think it was odd to see that Claire and Isidore still had not gotten it. However what Nana said will have a certain weight. Another wonderful chapter!! Thanks again for this story and these wonderful characters!!

I am so glad Will found a friend. Tony is a work and I think it will take he a long time to get his head on straight. It is sad but even Will doesn't have that much tolerance. Great chapter!!

What as wonderful chapter!! I think George's plan is very sound. Leaving Somers as governor, Berte in India, and taking Chartley with him back to England. Going back via the Suez gives George a fighting chance of beating Maidstone. I wonder about a few things however. Does George have to catch Maidstone or just beat him to England? Is Jervis still in the Mediterranean? Last are the pirates still after George? What is really great is that I can see the four treking across the sand and seas to reach home and save the day.

Tony grew up without his father. He saw how hard it was for his mother. Sam died of AIDS because of Jake. However Tony blames Sam's being bi or gay. He hated his father because of what it did to the family. Many times kids blame themselves for this. Then he feels the same feelings that killed his dad and hurt his family. If he is gay he lets down his whole family and friends. That is a great burden for anyone, now add to that close Italian family and his tight knit friends it is even bigger. It is so different than Will who doesn't have that burden. I think Will is going to be the same crusader for progress that his great grandmother was. He will need a partner who can support and live with that. Someone strong enough to hold him back when that is needed but will let him run free when that is needed to. At this point Tony is not that strong. He could grow into that person, but I fell there is someone out there waiting to meet Will down the road.
-
Outstanding chapter!! As others have said Dana will not give up. The only problem is how far will she go? Tony's family knows. Even Elizabeth knew about Wade. Tony's mother and sister know and it won't be any difference, they love Tony for who he is gay or not. In one way I hope Will and Tony work out. They are good for each other. Tony will become more decisive and Will much more patient. Not all relationships are perfect but they can improve. I think that once Tony's family and friends know about him a great burden will be lifted from him and Will is the only one who can help to lift it.

I am somewhat confused. This is the way I see it: 1. Maidstone arrived without out complete orders. No seal of the king. 2. Berte chose to agnore Maistone until the kings approval arrived. 3. Berte's dealings as governor were questionable. 4. The government does not want these facts coming out. 5. Maidstone stole the papers which prove the questionable behavour, and is bringing them back to London. 6. George must stop those papers from reaching London. 7. The government in London can not punish either Berte or Maidstone because if they do it will bring down the government. 8, If George does retrieve the papers George with be the hero again and improve his position with the king and the government. 9. Main loser would be Maidstone, who will not be trusted from now on.
-
You are right of course. Maidstone could not be brought to justice without everything getting out. The idea of him falling over board would be nice. However I think him loosing his power would be much more interesting. Sometimes living without power is worse than going to prison. I hope the ship is not lost. I think it would haunt George for the rest of his life. His ship is like a lover or maybe a child. If lost it would be very hard on him.
-
I don't comment as much with this story. Mostly just sit back and enjoy it. A few things come to mind first Calvert is out there someplace. He could take command of both ships and order them back to the harbor. However it would not be as interesting a storyline. racing his ship across the oceans of the world to beat them back to London would be much more interesting. I think George should take his brother with him to charge Maidstone with theft. It would discrease Maidstone and save the government and coverup any problem Berte would have back in London. I thought of making Chartley Governor. He knows the situation and has been able to overcome the climate. One other thing I wonder how fast they are going back. Maybe wanting George to catch up with them.

After chapter 41 I wonder if George would live. I kept telling myself you love happy endings, How could the story go on without George? It is good to see him alive and back. Not many people could hold us your readers breathless waiting for the next chapter. It is a testament to the skill which you have in telling both stories. Thank you again for bringing George back to the land of the living.

One thing I love about Will is that he doesn't suffer fools lightly. Dana is a fool. Thanks Mark for making my night with this new chapter.

MMM Asia how exitic! Sorry for missing your Birthday, Mark. Hope you had a good one.

Long ago I thought having JP back would be great. However I thought having a 65 y o telling the story might not work for some people. I have been very surprised that many of my follow readers wanted JP too. I love Will. He has a charm, fun daring spirit which endears him to me but something about JP does it for me too. This chapter seems to setup the trip to ST Louis. Tony reminds me of a few friends of mine. They will almost do anything to avoid a bad situation. The opposite from Will, who seems to love Drama. Maybe dealing with Tony will help Will mellow out a little. The question is will Tony learn something from Will? One can only hope.

To have another chapter with JP is awesome but through him we come to understand things so much better. Two things come across so clear. It is great to see JP interact with Will. There is a closeness between these two which is unique among JP's grandchildren. If JP has hope for the future it is in this young man. As Will grows and matures he shows many of the qualities JP is looking for. The second thing is not so happy. If someone was going to dedicate place after my grandmother or great grandmother nothing would stop me from going there, nothing. That a side, knowing how much it meant to her father it makes no sense. Going back to Ohio can be a pain but who can say no to JP? Robbie , Brad and Will couldn't. Why can Claire, Marie and Isidore? It seems to be part of the bigger problem. Who can fix it? Who can bring the family together?
