I understand that drama is important in this story. However I believe JP is right. It was interesting to see that Robbie believes he and Will are in the same place. To think that the whole family could be broken over this issue is upsetting. I see a different Robbie in this chapter. A Robbie which could live without Brad. I think that is true about Will to. JP is forced to break with Stef and support Will, because it is the right thing to do. This could be the end of two couples and break up of the family. Maybe a breakfast meeting at windows on the world with Brad and Stef just before the wedding? I really wouldn't want that to happen. Brad and Stef have to wake up to the facts. What they could lose. Almost everything. Again Mark you have bought us a wonderful chapter and a lot to think about.

Some people think family is Will's weakness. I believe like Wade it is a strength.

What everybody is forgetting is one simple word. LOVE. If Brad would remember how much he loves Will, and tell Will that. If He would tell him how he has loved Will ever since he held Will for the first time. Will would melt. if Brad would say that he is not perfect but he loves Will so much that he would give his life for Will, without a moments thought. I know Brad has it in himself, because he has done it before. The situation with Stef is harder. He broke Will's trust. But still Will loves Stef a lot. All these people only need to remind themselves of that fact. Such a easy answer, LOVE.

For a long time David, Tim and I agreed how Will had learned and was growing up. Before I continue I have always been very pro Will. Even in the days of cut shoes and acid, I stood for him. This chapter has shown me how much Will has grown. Will is having to battle Marie and the people at school and now his father. He handled Brad as best as he could. Brad, however, threatened Will in front of everyone during dinner and refuses to see the good deeds Will does, and manufactures the bad things he thinks Will is doing. It is Brad winning at all costs. Even if it would go to court, and Brad would win, he would lose in the end. I have seen this happen time after time. Families broken. People not talking to each other sometimes for years, sometimes forever. Will is almost 15. Brad could make his life hell for three years, but then he will lose his son for life. What is wrong with Brad? Is this Brad's pride getting in the way of his son? This is not a loving caring father. I wonder if Brad understands that. This reminds me of Mr. Martin. Remember how badly that turned out. It drove Will away. Only this time Will has a safe place to go. I think the lines are drawn and the damage could be even greater. Robbie and Brad seem to fight all the time. JP is really pissed at Stef. This could be big problems in the CAP world. All this with 9 11 looming in the future.

Again Mark you have shown your brillance. Everyone was upset with Robbie when his was trying to help JJ. Now Brad is alone trying to control Will. Brad isn't talked to Will, he is doing the same thing Jeanine did with Will. If it didn't work with Jeanine why would it work with Brad? Using the courts against Will is wrong. When has Brad turned into a old man? Wade told Brad this was the wrong way of handling Will. Neither Stef or Brad understands that they are driving Will away. Is it Brad control problems? Maybe something more. For such smart men, Brad and Stef, they can be so dumb at times. Maybe it is Marie's problem, they think they are perfect. I doubt Brad will go against JP in the long run. Maybe Brad needs to go into his cave and think. I hope he comes out a lot wiser. Thanks again for a great chapter.

Poor George! Only a few times have I been unhappy with the plot of the story,. Twice before first was when Brad and Matt were thinking of having sex and the second was when George was raped by his sister-in-law. I can only hope that, Mark will be easier on Lord Granger from now on. Losing his former ship, having his wife be unfaithful in public, most of his friends rejecting him, being forced to leave the country for over a year, losing his ship again, and part of his crew, being forced to trek across the middle east dress as a women, and now being taken captive by the French. I thought George was the lucky one. I am hoping that Mark's love of happy endings and fair play will come through in the end. You have separated George from everyone, even Winkler. He needs to go home. Please let that happen. We who are readers of your stories care about these characters. George is the hero he can't rot in a French prison.

I agree with David and Tim, Marie needs to be removed from Menlo and sent some place far away. If JP is forced to interfere no one with be happy. Marie is attacking the family, and his beloved grandson. How this plays into 9 11 only Mark knows. As for the binoculars my first guess is JP. He saw Kai's dad using them.
-
How does Marie think that she will win this one? Will needs to tell JP about everything that is happening at school. Marie and Ferris don't know who they are playing with. On the plus side, Darius and John are on Will's side. If he can hold his temper Will can make it through this one, I was just thinking how Brad would have handled this. Not as good as Will so far. If something doesn't happen soon and Marie backs down she will be send off to a boar ding school in China or some place like that. Maybe she'll be able to that Ferris and Kyle with her. Again, Mark a great chapter. I have the feeling that Jack and Claire are at the end of your rope with Marie.

Over the last few stories we have not heard much about Marie. She is about six months older than Will. How could she have turned out like this? I understand how she is upset about Will taking her spotlight., but this has turned into something else, a war within the family. The last and only time this happened was with Jeff Hayes. Even as bad as Jeff's actions were he loved JP, Yes in a twisted. love but it was love. This is not love, it is more than teenage drama, it borders on hate. Darius' advice to Will was golden. Can Will follow it? What will happen when JP finds out about this situation? I would not want to be Marie. She is acting like Elizabeth Danfield or ABC. All this is happening as the clock ticks away. As we get closer to the attack on 9 11. Thanks Mark for sharing your talent with us.

I would be willing to bet that Calvert, for the rest of his life, is wishing he could have arrived earlier. The death of part of this noble crew and their ship was hard on everybody. Just watch how Calvert reacts to the dieing ship. How he tells Fritzwiilliam of Humpheys death. Calvert lost a ship before. Grangers ship This is the second ship he has seen die. These are his crew. part of him. He know the wounded and the dead. How could he has gotten there faster? Must be on his mind. It must be like he has let down Lord Granger and the crew. Of course he traveled as fast as he could and did not know the situation, therefore not to blame, he saved over a hundred men, maybe more and the treasure, but still this could haunt him.
-
Calvert must recover the remaining crew! It would be uncivilized not too. I also have a feeling that Lord Granger will be reunited with his remaining crew soon. I am sorry, but the sadness of losing Humphreys and that beautiful ship seems almost overwhelming. It only reflects the power and skill of Mark's writing. Again it is as we were there, on the deck, in the middle of the battle, seeing the wounded and the dead, and finally the burning ship. The last time I felt so strongly was the death of Travis. Thanks again Mark! So very few writers have that ability to inspire their readers. Mark and his team have it and I for one am glad I found him here those years ago. Thank you again Mark!

It is interesting that as sad as this chapter is most of the crew was saved. Emotionly. I am not sure which is worse, Humphreys brave death, or the death of the ship. We knew there was no hope for the ship. After it was grounded we knew. It is odd that the death of the ship hit me harder then Humphreys death. Maybe because the ship is part of Lord Grange, like one of his children. In a sense this chapter is a funeral. for Humphreys, and for the ship which he commanded. As I reflect on the times. We see the dangers of traveling by sea. You are at the mercy of the wind. Because of that the bravery of those men is almost unbelievable. It is said that this was the time of wooden ships and iron men. I can understand with men like this Great Britain could rule the world.

After reading the reviews and comments this morning, I thought of a plot line for Mr. Arbour. Flash!! The daughter of Jackson Hobart, doctor at Stanford Medical Center and Clarie Crampton Hobart was killed aboard the ill fated fight. Marie Hobart who was in New England looking at boarding schools Was aboard the hijacked flight this morning.

This is what I get for waking up in the middle of the night. A new chapter from 9 11. This new chapter is a puzzle. Things are not what Will thought. Who can he trust? Marie is out to get him and John is not to be trusted too? Noah has deflected to the other side? Will talked about moved back to Hawaii and I can see why. He has an Ace up his sleeve however, JP. I am wondering how Will will handle this. Only time will tell. I think a major battle is coming up. I wonder how 9 11 will alter the fates. I can only wonder. We must leave it to the master, Mark Arbour.
-
Wow! A most interesting chapter. I wonder how Will is going to like his new school? I am not sure about Eric. This whole situation is very odd. I am left wondering about it. Who infected Eric? Why did Eric ask Will out? Why is Noah going out with Marie? This chapter created more questions than it answered.

Welcome ! -
Who will save the crew? If not Calvert who? I wonder about the ship in the harbor at Gordee. Same way some how these good brave crew have got to make it home. Another British ship in the area? How far are we from the Mediterranan Fleet? I can hardly wait for the next chapter. I have a feeling however that another twist is in the wind. Someone we have not thought of.

If I could return to the last chapter for a bit, what I call the Chapter of the Rings. In JP's portion of the chapter, I think the greatest moment when Isidore give Darius her rings. I could feel the emotion I bet there was not a dry eye at the table, not even Brads. Second was the New York Wedding date. Mark bringing all the members of the family to the city. I hoped it would not be in the morning at the Windows on the World. I can't not see Hank and Jeanine having a big wedding in a church but a simple affair. It could be in New Jersey since both Hank and Jeanine are from there. Seeing the towers burn and fall from across the river. Close but safe. I am sure Mark has in planned out. I hope the death toll will not be to high. Mark remember what happened when you killed off Jeff Hayes. JP, Stef and Will have got to may it through this one.

Five Years of Writing: Reflections
rjo replied to Mark Arbour's topic in Mark Arbour Fan Club's Topics
Over the last years, I am not sure when I found these stories, it was before A Summer Love, I have waited for each chapter. What Mark and his team have done in this short time is unbelievable. How he has time for the real world I don't know. Now for my favorate stories the CAP story it was hard I thought of two Bloodlines (Matt meeting Robbie for the first time) and Paternity (for the two reunions of Will with Brad and Robbie). I settled on Bloodlines. I couldn't go for The Box because Steven died, I know that is dumb but I wanted him around to see how his son and JP turned out. As for Bridgemont it was even harder HMS Belvidera won out. I think because of the bad reception George got the last time he was in London and the death of that beautiful ship on the rocks and the loss of 30 brave men. I guess I loved happy endings. -
To see two chapters tis morning was a bit overwhelming. Like Christmas in August! Since I wrote the other review already, I will deal will the 9 11 chapter. I think of it as the chapter of rings. I looked upon this dinner as something which could be good or bad. Of course I forgot the able guidance for JP. First he deal with old business returning the rings to JJ and when to Will. To JJ maybe it didn't mean as much but to Will it meant everything. Than the announcement, the shock, the sadness, and finally the love between JP and Isidore and when with this family, their family. Almost 40 years had passed! I wonder what Jeff Hayes would say seeing this family he had helped to form all those year ago. Then the third ring Isidore's, giving it to Darius was moving. Tieing the generation together like Prince William giving Catherine his mother's ring. finally, Frank giving Isidore a ring completing the cycle. A wonderful chapter!! Than there is Brad. What is wrong with Brad? Why can't he let go? He only sees the bad and never the good Will does. Why is that? Does he understand how he is alone in his views? As I said in my other review, I can not express now great my joy is to see new chapters, how real these characters are to the readers, how wonderful these sagas are. Five years have passed, a wonderful five years, here's to five years more!! Thank you Mark and your staff for these years. I hope you know the joy you give our readers. Thank you again.

To lose the Bacchante this beautiful ahip and some of her brave crew truly saddens me. To have the letters found and Maidstone died with gives me only a little happiness. The only hope I can see is Calvert coming to save them. I think Humphreys given the weather has done everything he could for his crew and wounded ship. I hope those in London will see that too. It seems to me that soon all the pieces will come together. Knowing Mark, happy endings are possible. How does one thank you, Mark, for the endless hours of happiness which you have given us? Five years how can it be that long? Two sagas, one covering almost 40 years! The other traveling countless miles, an endless adventure. with a brave captain and a couragious crew. Millions of words which have brought these lifelike characters to life, Thank you for sharing this wonderful gift with us!

Thanks for the great chapter! I am wondering if the problem with Marie is that she sees Will as a compediter. She was the leader of her circle of friends. Then Will comes in and takes over. She is left on the sidelines. In her mind it is a fight for leadership. Prince William or Queen Marie. If Will goes to her and asks for a truce. Maybe Marie can save face and the family will have a little less drama. Did I say that? Less drama? I am glad Will has put things to rights with the other members of the family. For a almost 15 yo he does a real good job. I know a number of people a lot older than him who can't forgive or can't ask for forgiveness. I hope Marie isn't one of those people. I wonder how things will change. Will Isidore and Frank move out? Who will take her place? Stef? How will those changes change after 9 11? Back in CAP days as we where waiting for November 22, 1963, we knew the world would change and the family would be altered because of it. How much more will things change after 9 11?

Great chapter! It is interesting that JP understands Will better than Stef. Will can't trust Stef as he did before and Stef has no clue. Stef will be shocked what he has done to their relationship. I am hoping he and Will can repair it. Long distant relationships can be hard. Will is preparing for the worst, however I think this maybe different. Kai is not Berto and Will is not the person he was a year ago. Hopefully that will make the difference. As the clock counts down to 9 11 I can't help but wonder who will live and who will die. One thing is true however, all will be changed by this event. Mark, again I am so impressed what a good person Will is becoming. Over the past chapters and books we have seen him grow in so many ways. Not only has he grown but helped other people grow. That is saying a lot for someone who is only 14. Or as Will would say almost 15.

Having just read a history of the battle, Mark you captured it wonderfully. What first drew me to your stories was how you weave the characters into the history of the period. Again you have done this perfectly. I believe this was one of the greatnest victories of the British Navy, a total defeat of the French fleet. Thanks again for making this story come alive for your readers. A wonderful chapter!

As usual, Mark you have created a interested situation. I guess I am not surprised with Brad, his relationship with Will has been always up and down. JP's resigning as chairman says something. At this time he is 65 and had health scare. On the other side Will has lost one of the rocks of his life, Stef. Trust is an important thing after losing it, it is very hard to rebuild. I think Stef will have to meet with Will and promise to not blab to Brad. Isidore is an interesting case. Her behavior has been odd. Will she demand half of everything? Escorial? The beach house? This could change the saga a lot. Only the mind of Mr. Arbour knows that will happen, we mortals are left in the dark.
