  1. I would not necessarily disagree, but Hunter has been largely on his own since he was eight. His mother died at that year for him, and his father seems to have thrown himself into his job, and left Hunter afloat, but with little or no guidance. That hits a kid hard and may well be why he goes so overboard in one way or the other.
  2. In another country, in another place, with a different body and a different face, can one really say what might have happened at Hunter's age.
  3. Commitment is never easy, especially at 16. These are not adults, who have messed up and discovered what needs to happen if things are to go alright. As the lyric says, "the road is long, with many a winding turn.".
  4. Read it at the time and it sort of shocked me. A job is valuable, but reality has to be paid attention to. Hunter's father should know that, even as he is paid to do what he does.
  5. Minor quibble, Ferney's death brought the war home to Hunter, the rest of the gang were probably all to well aware of it.
  6. If Hunter's dad sends him back to the States, Maryland I think, my guess he will get right back on a plane and head to Miguel, come what may. Those two are just not giving up on each other. An early, but perhaps true, till death do they part.
  7. Little Buddha TW is missing in action at the moment. Awesomedude.com is subbing as a site for the rest of the story. They take a story, once all the chapters are complete, and then put in out, as the author asks. For Little Buddha TW that is once a week.

  11. After floating into any number of arms, etc., Hunter seems to be finally settling down, becoming actually grounded. It is no longer just what works for the moment, he is finally looking at the possibility of a future, not just what or who is next. Miguel also wants a future, staying in Colombia is just not going to do it for him. He needs to breathe, to feel free, and actually have a feeling of both peace and security. It is those needs, a future, peace, security, perhaps love, that draws them together. They really do want the same thing, and that may well be enough, for them to achieve it. There are a lot more chapters to reveal the path. My guess is they make it, because they both want it.
  12. “Did you two hook up before I got here? Be honest.” Not a question I would have asked in a text message - how do you assess their credibility? Its not the best choice, but see how they kiss Hunter, that should tell him something.
  13. Maybe Miguel's father is in the same position as Hunter's, their business/job dominates. Even given that, are they willing to sacrifice their son for their job? Hunter's makes sure Juan Camilo is at least mostly around, who does Miguel have?
  14. I just can't recall a period of either in my own life or my friends, and we mixed it up now and then over the years, with the circle expanding and contracting, where anyone mentioned a recent even semi-relationship with a new one that they wanted to start anew with. I don't hold either of them to have any responsibility to tell who they were with last week, month or year. Sooner or later backgrounds get filled out, and sometimes people get named that one might know in some capacity, but by then they are in the past, the present is already occupied with the new.
  15. I'm a hopeless enough of a romantic to wonder, if this could end well for at least those two. No one ever said being in love was easy or that maintaining it was either. The question for Hunter, is he willing to accept the gauntlet he has thrown down for himself.
  16. We are in total agreement about Hunter's past actions and habits. The question for me is, does he really want to change, really settle down with one guy, and to do it at 16? Doubts emerge, but his quest for stability, someone to be there, a center that's real and holds, seems strong enough that he might very well do it, this time. He may have had enough, heavy on the word may, of not being able to hold onto a good thing. If so, Miguel could be the one, or at least the first one on the way to who and where he wants to be. We all start somewhere.
  17. Things happen, not everything works out, still, usually, life goes on.
  18. Yes it should have happened much sooner, but again, Hunter is only sixteen.
  19. Hunter, finally, did the right thing, and broke off an affair, that was not where his heart was. He will remember Yeison, be thankful for the experiences, but that is just so not who he is looking for or even really what he wants. Finally going to see the psychiatrist, who seemed very caring and sympathetic. No preaching, just a little coaching, since Hunter already knew what he had to do, there was no use pushing it and getting a backlash. The sheer escape that Miguel offers Hunter, someone who knows how to take care of themselves, in a moderately rough environment, granted Hunter is not looking for protection, so much as having someone who he feels protected just by their presence. Miguel doesn't have to prove anything, and by letting Hunter just lax on out, get some decent sleep, and some cuddling, touching, and getting to know the geography of each other , with no hurray, is a win all by itself. Hunter has been through the ringer, with Rory, with Yeison, his dad, and finally he has a chance for some peace and maybe even some actual clarity. Who wouldn't want that, when there has been no one around to genuinely look after him, and let him know he is loved, since his mother.

Yeison is a genuinely good guy, maybe he and Carlos can get together, after a while. It is not that Yeison is to good to be true, its that Hunter can't take his eyes off of Miguel. For whatever reasons, we like what we like, and Miguel makes Hunter feel alive, that is really hard to turn away from. Yeison, is a wonderful guy, but for Hunter he is not Miguel, and in the end, that is all that matters. Sooner or later something has to give, I only hope Yeison is teated well and able to accept that Hunter is not for him, sometimes, love is just not enough.

All of his teachers are aware of that, that was pointed out a chapter or two ago. Whether Juan Camillo or his father are is another issue.

He's doing so much better than I could ever do!
  24. Things are calming down, at least for the moment. I do not view Hunter as a bad guy, he's a teenager, they are known for doing dumb things one minute and being very adult the next. Juan Camillo is a great guy, observant, willing to give Hunter some leash, and still there for him. Miguel is just something else, he has built a rep, and he is willing to play, that is enough to scare a number of guys away. Yet, Hunter cannot ignore the flame, there is something there, I simply hope it does erupt like the attack on the high school around those two. Miguel is looking to get out of town. He wants his own life. So does Hunter. With luck, they may have it together. Can see that happening, unfortunately, only after a lot of trouble and some loss.
  25. My guess is that it has more to do with the Catholic Church than machismo.
