  1. An excellent series. I have all 8 episodes and watch them often. Ian is as hot as they come. Reminds be a bit of Llewelyn as I would picture him grown up. Except the eyebrows aren't devilish enough.
  2. An engaging chapter Mark. I suspect Granger will be spotted by someone who he met in Toulin and will not want to see such an honorable man in the hands of the revolutionaries. Perhaps he will be permitted to escape in the night with some select men and be intercepted by Santa Clarita who should only be a short distance behind them. Being a Peer, the French are as likely to take his head figuring they are doing the English commoners a favor. In any case, it is unlikely he will be treated with any favor unless the captain of this vessel is old school. It is going to be an anxious wait to see what will become of our favorite character. It seems that Granger's world has exploded with his cadre of confederates blown to opposite ends of the world. Winkler and Jacobs in England or Gibraltar Calvert some ways to the south, Jardines in Egypt, and his family ensconced in safety at home. At least there is that. Were the New French Republic as eager to exchange or parole officers? I am not familiar enough with the history of England or France to know the answer but after beheading the King, it seems that all civilized acts of war also ceased to exist. Since there were no longer French peers in charge, therefore there were no gentlemen one would assume.
  3. NaNoWriMo What? 0.0 Welcome chrysoprase!
  4. Welcome great horny hot as hell fire breather.
  5. Cum to Virgina and I'll show you just how functional I can be. lol
  6. Well, birds of a feather stick together. Calvert is as likable as maidstone. His ONLY redeeming quality is that he has the key to granger's pants and we get to watch.
  7. ya, exactly. The guy is dysfunctional on a grand scale. Needy, clingy and smothering. Completely self centered when it cums to relationships.
  8. UGH! For what? Showing up too late to save Humphries? NEVER!
  9. That was truly beautiful, thanks for that. And as much as I hate the sound of pipes, I know they are, unlike any other instrument, a tangible part of the owners heritage and emotions. They would matter greatly to Kingsdale, especially since Granger gave them to him.
  10. A tearful chapter. Perhaps it was humane that Humphries died there. He would not have survived a double court marshal. He had lost two ships. Sadly he will probably reap the blame when neither was within his control. And what of the men on the boat that went north? Did they manage to steal the corvet? How exciting would that be? And perhaps a good mark for our young Irish peer? After this his estate should recover. And maybe they salvaged his pipes? Its possible that they will meet the fleet returning home. Granger will be without a command once again. Will he assume command of Santa Clarita? And what about Calvert and Gatling? Gatling was a boy from his Brentwood estate. Granger lost his ship AND his lover. Granger has lost nearly everything he loves. Perhaps Freddie Cavendish will be his salvation. And what was the grand homecoming he was told about? Not a lot that they can do to elevate his status without first elevating his father. They can't promote him unless they invent the yellow highlighter nearly a century early. He's already fabulously wealthy. And a ship of the line is too docile, hell there's nobody left to fight. A first rate? Too much like a ship of the line. Not fast enough, sleek enough, daring enough. Baccanti was just right, fast, deadly with a butt load of firepower. And now its gone. And Winkler, what's to be his fate? Maidstone is out of the picture. His trip without Granger was for naught. I figure Granger will be on the lavander until it meets up with Santa Clarita. Then he will transfer ships and Lavander will suffer hisyory. Just like Mark to make Granger touch each part of history that he can. Sorta makes Granger the glue that holds the history together. Now lets go get our shipwrecked boys back or meet them on their stolen corvet. Perhaps Granger could resign his commission and become a privateer in his new corvet?
  11. Good point. Unfortunately they lacked video technology back then. And I think I would have preferred a pack of baby sharks so he wouldn't have been eaten too quickly. You know that old saying, anything over a mouthful is just wasted. Or was that waisted? Mark, I stand corrected.
  12. I'm still voting for the missing frigates from the Mediterranean fleet. Remember that three of them went missing before they entered the Med Sea. I suspect they were blown south and that would put them right where they needed to be. But what I'd REALLY like to see is them steal that little corvet in the French Port. Taking it from an anchor watch would not be tough stuff at all. Especially if they blew in under favorable winds in the night. That could save Humphries as well. He was in command and he sent them on the mission. I can't see Granger losing it's cargo of 500,000 Reals so they must be rescued. A note to Mark: Circling sharks? REALLY? Starting to sound like a 2 part lost in space cliff Hanger. I would have stopped at the cannibals.
  13. Be Welcome then Wendy! We'd love to have more to read and another friend around the table. And I understand completely about having your attention stolen. This place and its people can be addicting. And a nice addiction it is. Thanks for making the neighborhood just a little nicer.
  14. HA! Low is the day when we agree on something. BUT our mutual feeling for or about Calvert are and shall remain a mainstay of basic logic. Salute!
  15. Well that answers that question. Granger won't be back onboard Bachantee. At least Maidstone got his due. But poor Humphries. Lost two ships. He's better off with the sharks. I don't think ANYONE could get him out of this one. And they are too far south for the fleet to find them unless one of those lost frigates from the fleet finds them. And all those reals! seems we're about to lose a few good men unless that corvet has only an anchor watch. Thanks for the treat and congratulations Lord Arbour. And to have written yourself a peerage in such a short time is truly remarkable.
  16. Well, I guess we can see why there is suddenly so much troika talk. Jeeze, get a room or get a video camera, preferably the latter so we can like it too.
  17. HA And thanks for this. I was minorly instrumental in his part as Wolverene. I did a profile for him with the blessings of his family, that I believe was the impetus to him getting the part. There were a number of things that pointed to that profile as being what made them contact him. It just feels good to do something like that and notice that it helped someone launch into their dreams. He is greatly talented. And of course has always been a really cute kid. Some gay boy out there is going to be really happy someday. A great family as well. Their reaction is not surprising. Kudos on his strength and blessings on his life.
  18. Then we should be thanking Aditus for giving you the nudge. Be Welcome! Awesome Tom and be welcome. Can't wait for you to show us what you've got. The community always appreciates a good read. Cheers, John

  20. HA! ROTFLMAO!
  21. From a layperson's view I would like to say that the carnage that was so well displayed that I sat in awe. It amazed me that they could recover at all. The decimation on both sides was inconceivable. And repairs are all but unthinkable. The problems of stores shortages and stores that would be lost because of damage or sea water, the sorting of the good from the bad, shifting from ship to ship while repairs were made, the injured mended, the dead buried. And then the wood and manpower required to put things to right, maintaining the prisoners etc. It's a herculean effort. And the prisoners paroled, would they not be left short handed for their prizes? And sending them ashore would be akin to a death warrant wouldn't it? They were after all invaders. And maintaining so many wounded! Simply overwhelming are the numbers. And so many more would die from their injuries. It's staggering in the scope of it all. Well told Lord Arbour. And yet, we have Maidstone to consider. Will Granger be given over to a frigate to carry dispatches home and recover his own ship Will Donagal attend him on his trek back to England? I'm sure that Nelson will want Granger to hurry back with the news. So what's next my lord?

    Chapter 57

Brilliantly told Lord Arbour. You had every reader standing on the quarter deck watching the battle in awe. It amazes me that they could make anything seaworthy after such a mix up. The burials alone would take days, let alone the repairs. I'll go now to the forum and expand on my thoughts. Well done sir. And yet, there remain a couple of ships to deal with. Cheers!
