I chose the third option. Heh just for giggles. I work in a place filled with feminist extremist and I like to say things like that just to tickle their bones. We joke about stuff like that all the time now and I couldn't resist the temptation. But Nephy is right. I would have to agree with her. I'm a smaller guy and things like that doesn't really cross my mind. Hence I was effy about the age thing because that was the thing that was bothering me I just didn't know exactly why, but as soon as I read Nephy's comment it clicked. Though I may be 23 and if some 16 year old comes up to me picking a fight and makes an attempt to hit me or any of my friends, I'll hit the kid if he or she is larger than me. 16 year old guys are getting huge these days.... dang world of physical poweress and muscle buidling obession. It's not hard to outweight or outsize me. But if I was a buff guy or expert hand to hand combat person I would show long restaint and patience. Not necessary to hurt someone when you are in deed the superior one in physical poweress.

Thanks. Don't forget it's also due to partial laziness. Oh and someone requested that for each chapter I should post a summary so they can tell what chapters they have read and which they have not. So I have done that... in the chapter notes, so when you click on the table of contents the chapters will have a summary below each respective chapter. Writing those were a bit more difficult than I thought. I had to write them in a way to not reveal too much but also wouldn't be so vague that readers will have no idea if they read the chapter or not. But they are there now. I am partially done with chapter 7 and hopefully maybe be posted this weekend? Again new characters are still popping up, are you guys overwhlemed yet? Heh. Thankfully they aren't too role intentsive but just there was secondary characters. There's a new girl in chapter 7 that I quite enjoy, her character and abilities. Makes me think dirty even though she is far from it. Haha.

I agree with most of what you said. I agree that it's wrong to hit anyone male or female. I also agree that if push comes to shove and someone tried to hit or harm me or people I care about, yes I will hit that person regardless of sex. So with that in regards I believe it is not wrong to hit a woman. I am an equal opportunity hitter. I do not discrimnate towards sex, age (well this one here is kinda tricky), sexual orientation, gender, religion, creed, race. etc. I would gladly show them the microscopic cells of my knuckles and fists up close.

Somewhere between a and b...

If this was a poll on manga and comics then I would be divided as I like the drawings of both. And there are expections to both cases. I like the buff and slender Marvel and DC heroes and the same goes for manga. I dislike the thin or overly muscled (except I enjoy theoverly muscled in manga...called bara.... which are mostly sexual in nature... which I don't tend to like). I'm talking about visual aspect and not plot. Plot wise I do happen to agree that Japanese anime are a bit more hmmm how should I say this... imaginative and outlying. American animation is geared towards the younger age group. Though American art style I dislike. Boxy and weird lined people just looks bad. I can't find many American animation that I liked. I liked the disney stuff when I was younger but now after knowing that some of the disney animations were just retold in a different manner and one that was pretty much "stolen" has created a slight distasteful stigma of my opinion towards Disney. Shows like rugrats and basically anything that can be on nick... where too plain for my tastes. Not fantasical enough. (Mind you by the time I was eight I was reading books by Peirs Anthony and Terry Brooks). I throughly enjoy shows like South Park and Family Guy because of their jokes and unrulyness, and humor like that cannot be found anywhere else. Japanese anime I love because of their vast expansive ideas and storylines. Gods and angels coming down to earth to fall in love or wage wars are always entertaining (example: Ah! My Goddess... though I thought the concept was good.... the overall episodes was a bit redundant.... I greatly enjoyed the movie/ Example #2: Princess Mononoke). I love mythology and japanese anime has that kind of lore. Or the science fiction detail and background of some are just creative, like the advancement of technology (example: Gundam Wing, Bubblegum Crisis, Lain). Though Japanese anime tend to repeat a storyline over and over and over again in different episodes without seemingly going anywhere is kinda annoying. (exapmle: Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Tenchi) Shows like these just uses the same concept and add in a new baddie in for the next episode... when really it's just the same episode with a different bad guy. Then there are the perverted ones that are absolutely worthless in my opinion, like panning shots of girl's butts or chests (Battle Athletes) or unnesccesary pervertedness when they could have done a great plotline about the characters of their story (Golden Boy and Ranma1/2). *shrugs* watching animation of any sort for me I'd stick with shows like South Park and Family Guy. Japanese anime I watch a vast majority but also skip a massive majority. I can categorize the shows that I like and dislike and can probably figure out how I classify what I like in what anime. Oh oh thought just came to me. I forgot that I like American "3d" animation. Like Shrek, How to Tame your Dragon, Up, Finding Nemo, Happy Feet (disney has done well in this area but thanks to Pixar studios) Here's a few anime that I like: Witch Hunter Robin / Naruto (though this show is like Sailor Moon in the respect that it prolongs important details and has a lot of filler crap... overall story good) / Avatar The Last Airbender (as stated before this is an American Animation) / anything by Hayao Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli like Ponyo, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, etc. / Air TV (sad anime of tragic lovers) / Street Fighter franchise (I like watching the fight scenes... characterization is a bit shotty but I guess you are suppose to play the video games too) / Balsa / Final Fantasy: Spirits Within / Records of the Lodess War / Devil May Cry / FateStay Night / Full Metal Alchemist / Fushigi Yuugi (heh though I tend to not enjoy dramatics I really enjoy the overdramatics in this one) / Kyou Kara Mauo! Just to name a few. Though I do watch many of these online. Ugh I hate dubbed version of anything so online sources are nice.

Heh, as an author I know I should do this but I dont: reread the script. I'm lazy and too many ideas are popping in my head and so I just type type type away trying to catch up (hence the long updates). I am doing so many projects at once and I have tried working on a single project but then it stalls and my brain goes dead. Though I do go through and reedit them later I just haven't yet on my stories on here. Currently without a computer it kinda sucks and I'm sorta spending a lot of time working on a young adult novel I want to publish. I'm just too everywhere-at-once to focus. So I feel bad for making you readers wait and so I post the chapter anyway. Something to quinch the thirst to give me more time to multitask once again. Heh. Thanks for reading I love that you are reading my works. If only I can somehow make my readers more active.... PS. Ricky it's a picture of Yoru.
-
Here's the picture. Who is it inspired by? Sorry I don't have a scanner and I took a picture of it. I could have lightened it some but it I'm lazy. Hmmm I'll post more when I draw more. I guess this could be a special thing that I do for this story. Not that any of you read this, well not many people. I guess I'm just talking to myself.

Gah I wished I had that kind of freedom but I don't. I barely have time to text my friends at work. I work for the state and I'm just swamped with paper work and I'm only a part time employee. It sucks. If I fall behind at all at work, I basically screwed. But I like the job, it's fast paced, the people are nice, times flys and I don't have to stress about work when I clock out (<I'm not stress because I use the time at work to actually do work, so I'm not ever behind... heh) I do wish at times though where I can sit at my desk and read a chapter or two.

Birgil and Yoru. And I forgive ya. There's just too many made up names to remember well. Heck even I can't get them straight sometimes. Especially with the instructors. Gah I always mix the melee and weapontry instructors up because their "specialties" are similar. Thank goodness for my charcter spread sheet. Yeah I have thus far developed Birgil and Yoru's character as I wanted them. Micha I wanted as someone who reflects being a gentleman and will do what is socially acceptable and right. Susil I wanted to have a regal air and Merlorna slightly carefree and happy. Of course each and everyone of my charcters have their own insecurities I want to gradually pull them out. I feel like if I rush the story along then my characterizations would not be very believeable at that rate because the readers could see no change or see the characters as who they are. The ones I have listed I considered as my "main characters" although the others play a very large roll in creating my story. For example, Prince Ryon, the docuhe bag. Of course there are deep thoughts and explanations as to why he is targeting Yoru as his punching bag. That will be revealed sometime. My focus is the students and the reason why Yoru is at the Academy. That is my story, that's what my story is about. Jeez... after rereading what I just wrote, and looking through my writing notes, this story is epic and I hope is it enjoyable so far. Tell me when it starts to get boring, I'll push the story along faster. See this is why authors need their readers' voices (opinion and comments) because I think I know how something feels and looks like but that's me. I have no idea of knowing how you as readers feel like. Thanks Nephy again for leaving a comment. You are extraordinary, always leaving comments to almost every chapter and story you read and as always countless times. I wish I was like you in that manner. I just can't see how you have all that time to spare. Sheesh. Must be the fact that you are a vampire? Those long nights and day life and endless time. Heh. So folks now is a good time to start saying something. Oh and I'll post the picture I was talking about in the ealier post in a bit.

If I can do it right, I have something I want to do... for the time being for this story. Because it is a fantasy story and more imaginative. Would it ruin you guy's image of my characters if I posted my various sketches of my characters? Since I had no computer, I have been doing steches/drawings more often, which I need to do more cause I'm way out of practice. The sketches aren't really per say how they are supposed to look because everytime I write the story they sort of change bit by bit. I just want to work on my pencil worksmanship and is kinda just using my characters from this story to help me with the creative process. So this story inspired my drawings I guess but aren't really the characters. Haha. What a round about way to talk. Now if I can figure out how to scan the image (maybe I'll just take a picture of it) and post it here.... hmmmmm Oh and thanks for reading the story guys. I was surprise to find the numbers jumped dramatically after posting chpater 6. All yall need to let me know your thoughts on the story. So I'm motivated to write. Well at least discuss the characters or something (hint hint plot?)

I appreciate feedback. Actually I just want to know if people enjoyed reading my stories. As I don't know if a person just clicked on my story accidently and didn't even read to go back to the page they really waht to read. Haha. That's signs of a beginner writer. Very new writer. Every story is formulaic. EVERY STORY; no exceptions. It's how the writer writes that story that makes it distinct. Opinions should not be taken personally. Sometimes you get a comment or suggestion from a reader and yeah they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about and you can disregard those opinions/suggestions. As an author you should know your characters and story and if you hear a suggestion of redoing something, it usually means something was missing from the story telling and the people giving suggestions are giving suggestions because they can feel that missing piece. Most times they are wrong in their suggestions (but not in feeling) and sometimes are the right. It does sound better as they suggested. It's all about filtering and knowing what your story is about. Honestly I read and don't put reviews. I'm a very busy person and I just can't focus long enough to write a review. Heck writing responses on the forums take me forever already. I don't even rely on the star rating. If a title of summary intrigues me I read the first chapter. If it's good enough for me, I'll read the rest if not I just continue on. The anonymous thing would be good too. I know a lot of my readers don't want to register to just review a story. They are lazy and I don't blame them. It's like the stupid membership cards at stores, Jebus every store has one now. "Hi, do you have a point card?" *rolls eyes* People are busy and some just want to read. They aren't critics and they shouldn't feel like they should give out reviews. If they do then authors like me appreciate the review. But I would never expect a reader to give a review. Do not get me wrong. I love getting reviews and/or people leaving forum posts but I understand that some people just want to read and then go on with their lives.

Hmmm I cannot think of any stories that's not romance linked as romance/love is a part of everyone's lives. Are you asking for stories that doesn't focus mainly on the romance as the driving plot? Because a lot of the stories on here, have a little bit of romance in them (like 42 suggests), but there are some that love/romance isn't the main story/plot/driving force of the story but a small side story or is just a little touch of romance. This is a good question. I'm trying to write a short story series that focuses on the lives of gay/lesbian folks, that isn't necessarily about coming out or romance. I only have one story so far. Haha. But I'm trying. I just want a little bit of more clarification because if you are looking for a story that is completely void of romance/love would be a very limited number of story, even in mianstream books.

I def feel your pain. I lost all my work from my entire life when my computer decided to die about a year ago. Then about five months ago with my new laptop, there was a oversurge and it fried my motherboard and internal harddrive, two external hardrives, and I was back at level 0. Two weeks ago my computer just died, well the video card did and since it's connected to my motherboard, everyone recommends just getting a new computer. I still have to figure out a way to extract my stuff from the hard drive. So now, I am saving it onto a USB flash/thumb drive, an external portable harddrive, and using an online backup service (of course onto the computer itself, when I get a new one... currently my roommate is gracious and letting me hog his laptop for the time being as he only uses it mainly for facebook during the summer). Rush, it seems my computer messes are being transferred to you. >.< I know how you feel. Are you running as administrator and before your computer crashed (no porn for you!) was your "Rush" account set to private or the documents set to private in that program user?

Is this open to all members? Maybe we can have a specific forum made for this? Just a suggestion. I understand it may be more work to create a new forum for book club discussion. I assume it's going to be here in your forum, Comic? Anyways I'm not too literate in navigating and it took me quite a whiel to find this thread again. I'm sure other people in the forum are not aware of this idea as it's not part of oen of the more open forum roads and maybe they would like to participate. But if this is a RSVP type thing then well...

I understand this well. Just I can't help when my creative juices will flow and into what story. Sometimes I have a thought and BAM! I'm writing a outline for a new story or other times...WHAM! I writing a new chapter for efiction story. Though I do try and sit and force myself to write on one story just never really works out. SOme days it does other times not really. I think my two stories now I keep posting (Get There is almost done) and I'll save the others until I have completed 75 percent of the story or completely finished it. That way I can just update weekely or biweekly. Thanks for feed back everyone. I will work on this story to fruitution (<probs spelled that wrong).

Okay so to add to the delay of updating my stories I'm also working on a multitude of others. Which kinda sucks when your computer is also broken. But anyway I wanted to test the waters for my third story (I have a fourth also which I know some of you will like). I know there is a forum for a sneak peak of stories but I don't want to do a sneak peak. It's the theme and way the story is worked. Let me explain. I have this fetish/fascination with authoritative/abusive and rape fantasy. And it basically ends there. It's a fantasy. I know I'm not the only one who had such thoughts. I interviewed many people about this topic and surprisingly a large number of them share the same fantasy. Not surprisingly a large majority of them are women, young women, and gay men. Again it ends at being a fantasy. No one in their right mind REALLY wants to get raped and abused. It's all fancy and dandy so long as it stays in the mind. Anyway, I have been reading a lot of Japanese Yaoi (gay) mangas (comics) and I found it interesting that many of the stories have these types of relationship. Abuse = love. My third story is that. Its smutty for my readers who keeps emailing me about smut (this is your story dammit! ) but I also hope to achieve a fantasy (reference of fantasy above mention) like characterization and write in homage to these yaoi mangas. A little explanation. I am not condoning such relationships. As I have stated it's pure mental fantasy. Stays in the mind but never want to experience physically. I just think the fantasy itself is interesting. There's even terms for those type of guys in Japanese. Seme and uke. Dominant and submissive (I forget which is which though). So I wanted to write out a fantasy of this kind of relationnship. I don't want to hear your thoughts on the topic. Frankly, I don't care if you think me and everyone who shares this fantasy is screwed. Nor do I want to hear how you would like to be unwillingly sodomized and well you get my point. My question is this: Would you read something like this? I said it would be smutty but it won't be complete smut. It's more like a mind game of forced submission. A breaking of will and forced realization <of love>. Psychological sexual warfare done physically. That kind of thing.

Plus I never liked Jesse anyway. I knew he was a douche from the beginning.

With office '07 you can do all that on word too. Well you could with earlier versions but it's easier to nagivate '07. Here's my spread sheet that I created for my story: Mages of the Academy Character Name.pdf I can just press tab until it reaches the end of row and it auto creates a new row... or right click and select to create a new column or row either before or after the selection i choose. Very nifty and I also like it better an excel because I have custom dictionaries that I use with word that can seek out misspelled words for me, especially since I make up a lot of names and such (which I add to the custom dictionary). It annoys me not to be able to tell if something is misspelled and to have my whole document underlined in red squggleys (< totally misspelled) Oh and yes I guess this would be considered a sneak peek at my story since a few minor details are revealed in that pdf.
-
Oh yay now I'm excited for the sequel.... didn't know that. I finsihed the book in under 24 hours also.

Hmmm I would say it's the personality of the person and how the topic is discussed. I would agree that if you hit on the person all the time, it'd be uncomfortable for the other person. My friends and I do a lot of camping, rafting, and stuff like that and we change in and out of skivvies in front of each other (and I'm the only gay person in my group of friends... cause I live in Conservative America) and they know about me. Two of them knew I had a crush on them at one point of knowing them (because I told them... I figured it'd help my crush go away faster... which was true in one case but not the other...) but it didn't make any difference. I can't speak for them but when we do change I just change without thought for the most part. Sure I scope out a look discretely but it's not like I'll get "excited" over it because for me it's "business." Need to change out of clothes and set up camp or change out of clothes and get out of park. Yeah once or twice the thought does stray and I'm sure my friends are weary and think "protective" thoughts but we never show it nor does the atmosphere get uncomfortable. You have to do what you have to do. But I hulu'd the last episode and yeah that scene was intense. I mean I thought that "faggy" room looked nice. Like something I would see in a luxury hotel room. Or upscale Hookah bar with money. Those two jock guys were very convincing. They were stereotypical but not like overtly stereotypical... like that black guy made it too convincing. Haha.

Writing in 1st or 3rd Person Perspective
John Doe replied to Riley Jericho's topic in Writer's Circle
I agree. The idea that third person can't be personal is a misnomer. As Graeme has said there are stories out there that are very personal and intimate, even better than some stories told in the 1st person perspective and it's weird because for those stories that I have read they seem perfect in their third person narrative, switching to first somehow changes the tone and it becomes distanced. It's a mistake to believe that you can only be personal with first person and that third person can't be personal. Most writers who first starts out writing think this way and they stick to first person. Perspective, like I have said before, doesn't really matter. It's a small part of the story. It's the craft and prose of execution from the writer that makes a story works. -
I get the feeling that it's not the quality of writing that is better but the idea and relationship and how you feel about your older work that makes it seem like better writing. (did that make sense?) For me I like my old stuff because they were my first steps into writing and I loved them and I was very protective of them thinking they were awesome but six years later I realized the stories were written very poorly and I don't know why I thought they were golden for so many years. My writing and prose still needs a lot of improvement but I think compared to my egotiscal early years when I thought my writing was the word of writing gods, my writing now is a lot better.

Writing in 1st or 3rd Person Perspective
John Doe replied to Riley Jericho's topic in Writer's Circle
In third person this isn't an issue but I agree. In first person, there needs an indicaator. Most writers, even bestsellers haven't mastered different voices for their characters (me included and no I am no means a bestseller... I wish! Haha). Sure while reading we can pick out the different personalities but voice for the most parts in many stories are the same and an indicator like hh5 says is a nice thing to have.
