Lóránt uses "they" pronouns because they're non-binary - that is, their gender identity is neither male of female. "They" as a singular pronoun has been a thing since Shakespeare, apparently, and nowadays a lot of people use it for themselves. So it's only a clue for their gender identity... Lóránt is still one single person. With huge wings that are about as big as another person, but still one single being. I hope that helps!

My ancestors are from Germany, Italy, Czech Republic and Portugal, as far as I know. If only I could speak German and Czech... (Italian and Portuguese I already do. And the internet is slowly teaching me German and Czech along with some others. So maybe some day?) That said, if I was trying to write as they speak in Glasgow, with random Scotts or Gaelic mixed in, it could be more of a challenge. I've been here for 11 years and some of it still is...

Thanks! I do hope you keep enjoying it until the not-quite-ending of Part 1 (so that you can go on and read part 2, obviously...) I wonder how many lurkers there are around here these days... For statistical purposes only, not at all to do with wishing my inbox was constantly flooded with comment notifications and I had to spend my entire day just replying to them instead of actually working on the story. Yeah, not at all...

You say that, but only because you haven't seen Nessa asserting her dominance over the plot. She drives it, I'm merely typing it up and making sure internetland can read it.

Belinda is a nice name (won't say beautiful because it's... redundant?). Though we'll see if you still think the diary deserves that name by the end... I'm now trying to guess how old you are, if you've been doing "adult" stuff for 75 years... I'm guessing you're older than my 85-year-old grandma? On to the next scene and all the replies I owe you from yesterday! (I love when people binge-read my things, but it is unfortunate when they binge-read at a time when I'm not at home to do real-time interactions...)

Welcome to fairy tales! I'm more than happy to be your guide, though to be fair that's the first time I'm writing about fairies as well. And the story takes place in a sort of modern world, so it's not the usual fairy tale setting either. But that's the fun part, right? And thanks for checking the Chest! I still plan to add more stuff to it, like information about characters, stories and world-building that won't get a chance to appear in the story, or won't be as well-developed as they're in my head. All I need is the time to do all I want...

Yes, Kris is the other parent! (the clue is Neno's other grandfather being Kris's evil father, of course...) How did that happen? Why did that happen? Does this mean Lydia and Nessa broke up? Is Lydia even still alive???? (Here's a gentle reminder that fairies tend to be polyamorous) Also, Lydia is the same as Nessa - we would consider them both trans women if they were in our world, so they can't have children together. It's possible for merpeople to have kids with other races, though it's a little more logistically challenging... (I'll leave you to imagine the details). And remember that dwarves reproduce by having sex with giants, so actually it would make more sense from an evolutionary point of view if they were able to perform... quite massively... so to speak, particularly in proportion to their own body ratios. And yes, the grandmother is Nessa's mother. You'll see a bit more about how that came about next chapter, so stay tuned!

Glad to see you back! I suppose it is a relief to know Nessa survived for all this time, isn't it? At least now we know why the story was set in 1995 to begin with.

Thanks! Part of the reason I wrote the story as diary entries is to give myself that extra challenge of how to tell the story with those limitations. I hope you keep following along to see how it develops!

Dear Neno, This book you are about to read contains the story of your family: how I ended up in Daisen, how I met your mother, how we started and ended a world war, how we came to fall in love and have you and your siblings. I wrote this because I couldn’t think of a more fitting present on your 20th birthday. You are an adult now. My eldest child, my beloved son who somehow survived our disastrous parenting attempts… It’s time you know what really happened before you were born. No histo

This is the follow up to "A Fairy Out of Her Tale - Dear Diary". Can probably be read on its own, but it's not recommended. Nessa is a fairy who lost her powers because she killed her step-father. Only, her tale is not so straight-forward as that. Demons are out there doing whatever they want and destroying the world because angels can't be bothered to stop them. So it's up to the fairies, dwarves, giants, shape-shifters and merefolk to do the right thing and fight the war nobody wanted or asked for. And then survive to tell the tale...

I arrived at rehearsal much earlier than usual. I couldn’t stand being at home, where all I did was worry about what would happen when Siggi and I met. The longer I stayed, the more I put off the inevitable, and it made me feel like I was running away from my problems. I shouldn’t do that. What kind of leader would I be if I ran away the moment things got difficult? The other ISO musicians shouldn’t have been the kind who showed up an hour early to work. Most of them were busy with other ar

Lóránt would have appreciated to have you in the jury. At least one person who understands his side of the story... Assuming the worst with their appeal, Lóránt would have to find another job in another country, which wouldn't necessarily be easy with a conviction over their heads. That said, Lóránt is still an angel, even if of the albino variety, so they still enjoy a teeeeeny bit more respect than a person of another race in the same situation. Will that be enough to guarantee Lóránt's life won't be completely ruined by the incident? Who knows... And there's also the chance that they will be acquitted in the appeal and allowed to return to Daisen and carry on with life as normal. Though that raises questions of its own: will Lóránt actually be able to carry on as normal after having their four charges taken away like that? The psychological damage is already done, even if the courts revert their decision. Of course, there's always the chance for something else to happen entirely, but I wouldn't want to go on too long about that more interesting possibility, would I? That would ruin any potential plot surprises... Keep an eye out for the new story next week!

I think you have once again captured perfectly the mood conveyed by this scene. Well done! Jokes aside, I guess the demon's evilness is rubbing on me to end the story like this... I'm pretty excited about the next bit, though. It'll be interesting to write in the new format. And as I write this I've actually managed to write one whole buffer chapter! That's what I call inspiration... Look for the new story next week. You might find that the ominous catastrophic mood might not last that long.... (And I just noticed I seem to have a thing for ellipses... Ah, well!)

Yes, Kris is the runaway kid. This may or may not explain a lot about his personality... And yes, the bad guy is a huge mega giant dickbag. I think you managed to eloquently illustrate his personality.

I don’t feel any different. What have you done to me, demon? YOUR BLOOD NOW TIES YOU TO THE DIARY. WHATEVER I WRITE IN HERE, YOU MUST OBEY. Is that all? You’ll mind-control me via a book? YES. EAT AN APPLE. BURN YOUR HAND ON THE STOVE. DRAW A GENITAL ON YOUR FOREHEAD. The only apple I had was rotten. At least you didn’t specify which hand, so I can still write with the non-burned hand. And you didn’t specify the genital either, so the vulva can pass for a third-eye. I

Arnar has no idea his crush was Gunni's father, but the truth will come to light sooner or later... (This plot point will play out somewhat differently in the new Sinfónía version of the story - the fact that he knew Gunni's father will come up in the first chapter, so when he tells Siggi he had feelings for the guy, Siggi also knows his father is confessing to having feelings for Gunni's father. I'll let you imagine his reaction to that...)

Yes, the book we've been reading all along is pumped full of evil. Who would've thought? Morumpi was writing those things back when Nessa was a baby, so who knows what has happened to Jurandir since... Maybe we'll find out? Maybe the next part of the story will be all about a happy father-daughter reunion? Maybe Morumpi will be resurrected from the dead due to his awesomeness and Nessa will get her powers back? (Maybe you should take all those suggestions with more than a pinch of salt...)

Dmitri’s arms were still around my waist when the alarm clock’s blasting screams pierced my rare non-nightmarish dream. His breathing sent a steady flow of cold air over my shoulder, though his chest pressed against my back kept me warmer than the covers. Dmitri groaned and cursed in Russian. “Do we really need to get up?” He buried his face in the hair around my neck. “How about we cancel today and just stay here cuddling instead?” “You’re mistaking me for Gunnar.” Not that I wanted hi

The villain was with you all this time... Dear Harold is done for, but this might not be the last we hear from Bob Smith.

That font is the evillest thing ever realised in screen mediums. All I can say for the moment is that I do not thread on this evilness without care. Due consideration of its evilness has been taken before the decision was made. And the reason for this decision might have a lot to do with the word "evilness". But saying more than that is spoiling a great deal of the epicness that is to come. (Rest assured that you're not about to read 7000 words of Comic Sans. Even I can't be that evil!)

Thanks for spoiling my climax. Now I'll have to go and redo the whole thing! And just because you guessed so soon, I'll make sure everybody dies chocking in so much glitter, good and bad guys alike. How is that for obvious plot point? (and then comes the other plot point that nobody would ever have seen - the fairy of resurrection comes to make sure the good guys actually have their happy endings, though it's going to be one hell of an ass-pull that will leave shit lying around the battleground for years to come) (sorry not sorry for the mental image)

I know the feeling! T___T I'm technically working on 3 stories, though it's actually 4 (because one is The Orchestra, which I'm working on while also writing its improved book version from the beginning), plus Be Myself! and MaruMonzterz which are always on the back of my mind in their hibernation state, plus the general shared universe where everything takes place that I also keep getting ideas for and I can't wait to actually reach the point where the stories will meet... I've made myself a school-style timetable to try get all that writing done on top of work and other stuff. How do you juggle all your stuff?
