  1. This is actually my new obsession. I die over this brilliance. What can I say? I have a taste for tasteless music.
  2. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm not gonna lie, I spent some time googling Beatles lyrics to try and determine if it was a good thing or a bad thing. lol
  3. Thanks for catching that slip!
  4. I walked around on edge all the next day. It was like I was waiting for Tyler to show up behind me and swing a Louisville slugger at my head. I was bracing myself to hear telltale words like “Fag” and “Fairy” hurled my way, but none of that happened. I was edgy and it showed. “Well, that’s a waste of milk, isn’t it?” my sister-in-law asked when she was clearing my cereal bowl off of the table. For some reason, as soon as I spooned the milk and Wheatie-O’s—a less than cheerful

    Chapter 2: Jesus

I try my best, doll. This is my first time trying to write something a little bit more serious.

    Chapter 2: Jesus

Hey! Thanks for taking the time to post a review. I hope you stick with the characters and give them a chance to grow.
  7. **sings** If your gonna get a piece of my love... well then you'd better wear a glove. Sorry, I just watched American Idol and I couldn't help myself.

    Chapter 2: Jesus

Thanks so much for taking the time to review the story. Glad you're enjoying it so far!
  9. There is nothing quite as fun as good ole fashioned karaoke. Bon Jovi, anyone? Living on a Prayer/Dead Or Live? Pass me the mic.

    Chapter 2: Jesus

The next day I found myself humming the tune of Nowhere Man as I did four cabinet installs all over town. The song’s tune was a simple 4/4, but since it wasn’t a real song, no one really knew what I was humming. In the three months I’d worked for Cale’s, I didn’t really interact much with anyone, so they probably thought the little quiet boy was being weird again. What they didn’t know, and what I didn’t realize until I was about to clock out, was that I’d been thinking about
  11. The park was like any other you’d see littering the small Texas towns along I-35. Ours had sixteen units lining either side of a bumpy dirt road that curved slightly to the left as you drove down the slow decline. I say it was a road, but truthfully, it was more like a weathered trail that Ford single-cab trucks had beaten down for years and years, creating the only discernable path through the park. The first house to your right was clean by Easton Park standards. It belonged

    Nowhere Man

Travis has given up on finding love. That is until he meets this stranger that leads him everywhere and nowhere at the same time.
  13. I rather enjoy this little dity. I remember the days when my only stress in life was wondering how I was going to sneak a seat in my friend's Miata convertible. It was a much simpler time. And it rhymed.

    The List

Glad they held your attention in one sitting! Seven is out and then it's back to waiting a little while. Sorry.

    Chapter 7: Ben

Those are the kind of passionate reviews I like to read. lol, but for real, it's a journey. Maybe he'll get there, maybe he won't.

    Chapter 7: Ben

Specimen’s name: Ben Height: 5’10’’ Build: 155 (slim) Occupation: Barista, musician Age: 19 Measurements: 6’’ uncut Getting over my guilt about hooking up with Sexy Bartender was surprisingly easier than I anticipated. When I woke up on Sunday evening, I was sure that I would feel like shit forever. I forced myself out of the apartment and to the student study lounge. When I checked my phone, I had three texts from Kyle. From
  17. I thought that story was really cute. I definitely like the Justin character a whole lot (I'm a sucker for an old romantic). I think some of the dialogue could be made a little tighter and more natural, but overall, I think you have a good beginning there! (If you choose to continue the story, I'll definitely be on bored to keep reading.)
  18. Follow the above advice, fake it 'till you make it... eventually, people will start to see you how you want to be seen (don't expect it to happen overnight.)
  19. I couldn't agree more, captain!
  20. I guess I have to respond honestly. I've hooked up with older guys and definitely flirted at bars with guys well over my age. My question is what I would have in common with someone that much older. At 22, I don't consider myself very mature. I would still rather go out with friends than stay home and have a quiet night. Although I can't speak definitively because I've never dated an older gentleman, I can't imagine myself being that into it. Maybe I'm being myopic, dunno.
  21. I'm out to my siblings in my hometown and completely out at school. It felt like such a chore to spend four years in the closet at college that I didn't even bother. I tried my hardest not to let it define me at all, however. Most people know me at school as the kid with the hilarious column, not the one of two guys who are openly gay. I made sure to be a positive influence and have other things on my plate define me instead. It was great to watch guys I knew were gay- don't ask me how - come out as we got closer to graduation. Whereas when I did it, it was pretty risky and could have backfired (there were two hate crimes my freshman year and I mildly harrassed a couple of times) by the time I graduate, the atmosphere had changed completely. Even guys in my frat could be dicks at first and by the end of college, it wasn't a big deal at all.
  22. The best stories for me, create a newness out of activities I've seen or read about before. We've all read a story about two people that fall in love... the best stories take that basic concept and turn into something that's surprising, fresh, and unexpected. Style is also a big thing for me. I read to be inspired, so when I'm exposed to different styles and voices, it really does excite me. With that, of course, comes plot, character development, etc. But how one author chooses to do those things compared to another is really thrilling. With that said, I have the tendency of making up my mind about a story very shortly in. I'm ADD and a sucker for a strong hook or else I'm afraid I won't continue reading. It's a habit I'm trying to break because some of the slower starting works I have read ended up being brilliantly well written and well paced pieces by the end. Just my thoughts, J.
  23. I'm all about a clean canvas. But let's be honest, when the lights go out, what's the big difference?

    Chapter 6: Eric

Definitely a history there, but hopefully the specifics of the history will shock you. Zipping my lips now...
  25. This thread reminds me of the song "My first kiss went a little like this... hmm... and twist.. .hmm... and twist."
