I think you may be on to something here, and Corbin may wind up going through some growth. I think he already has if I’m honest. And this chapter shows that just because you’re ready doesn’t mean the others in your life are. Corbin wants to be loved and hopefully he enters an era where he can receive that. -

The next few minutes were the most hectic moments of my life up to that point. Sheer chaos. Mentally, physically, and emotionally. Chaos. Plain and simple. Thank you for this comment, and the older I get as a writer, the more I need to remind myself of this as well. I obviously plan to tell this story from beginning to end, and I’m here having survived to tell it, along with some of the characters you’ve met. I love writing an imperfect protagonist, so hopefully you continue to enjoy

I like arriving their dynamic quite a bit because David is a little unhinged and unpredictable. With people like Corbin and Lee you know they’ll pick the self serving route. What the fuck is David gonna do? No clue.

absolutely, but in his head he was going to lie to get Corbin out of it, and that would be enough. I love writing their dynamic because in so many ways David is a mirror for Corbin, and that allows him to act out even more towards him, in my opinion. As always, thanks for the comment.

I don’t see bringing homophobia as a thesis into this story as being that necessary. However, Corbin does mention it once or twice, how there is that double standard. I do love that readers are able to put themselves and their experiences into the story in a way that if you wanted, you could make a very relatable case for that. And you’re correct. Corbin has expressed many times he had no desire to ‘rule’. But he’s also not the most honest narrator, so who knows.

It's interesting to me. We're all self serving, even the most moral and empathetic amongst us. What Corbin has is the gal to be outwardly aggressive about the things he wants. Your comments speak to the greater stigma I think a lot of gay men face when they aren't passive and navigate through primarily straight/white spaces. Thanks for these comments.
