  1. It may look like Instinct was killed off in those paragraphs, but do we have any actually confirmation of this? We know that Brandon is starting at what he thinks is Eric's blood and Chase tried to elbow Dimitri. The blast was described as concussive, not deadly (remember, Dick Cheney shot a guy in the face with a shotgun and the guy lived), so we have reason to believe that Eric is still alive Chases elbowing could knock Dimitri's aim off as he uses the last bullet in the gun. Chase has a knife in his throat, but that alone won't kill him provided he can keep the blood from entering his lungs and drowning him. Also, this may very well not be the true start of 44. He said that these paragraphs were originally at the end of 43, followed by a scene in Paraguay. They could very well have been deleted from the story altogether since 43 ended with a few lines about Paraguay. We'll find out for sure tomorrow, apparently.
  2. Well, being that your hearing is well enough that you can use hearing aids you haven't had the need for ASL, however I think deaf people are the hardest to converse with if you don't know at least some signs. You might be able to get by with body language but that can be confusing without signing words. The video that Sparrow posted proves that when the deaf runner wrote what he was saying to the other runner on the window of the car. By the way, that other runner who picked on the deaf runner really PO'ed me. I wanted to reach through the screen and slap him back for his ignorance.
  3. "Love in a marriage, love in a marriage Go together like a horse and carriage..." Wait, we weren't talking about the TV show?
  4. Really? I'd be interested in reading more about that! Interesting that you know so many people who are deaf and gay. I personally only know of a couple of people who fit both of those. The rest are just gay.
  5. It's definitely too soon to tell. It may look like the end of Instinct is there, but remember that no mention was made of Dimitri knowing about the lookouts on the Jacobs ranch. The bikers could have started taking up positions around the house as soon as the officer on the front porch was knifed. That said, one could be zoning in on Dimitri and could shoot him while Dimitri is focused on Brandon's shotgun being pointed at Eric. Further, if done correctly a shot from a high caliber rifle could be well muffled by the house as it pierce a window and blows Dimitri's head to smithereens. The effect of which would douse Chase in blood, but spare him from being turned into a pez dispenser and eliminate the possibility of Brandon shooting Eric. This is all speculation, of course. I have speculated a lot in this story and I have been wrong many times. What may be certain is that, unless the bikers know first-aid (very possible since they are out-laws and get injured a lot, but avoid hospitals like they were sport bikes) and can stop Helen from bleeding while awaiting the paramedics, she's done for. I don't think we know enough about Jon's injury to speculate where he'll be in the morning (hospital bed or morgue). Having said that, there might be a chance that Jon will be the hero. He might not be injured enough to be down for the count.
  6. Recently I've found a great desire to learn American Sign Language (ASL), or more appropriately Conversational Sign language (CS). My reasons for this are irrelevant, but there is a passage in the book that I am using that I found very interesting. It goes like this: The interesting thing here is that if you replace "deaf" with "gay" and "hearing" with "straight" and "Deaf culture" with either "Gay culture" or "the gay community" it states the same thing! There is a second passage below that one that states: Again, the same rule applies as before. I thought that this was very nifty! I would even hazard a guess that many minorities can say the same thing simply by changing those key descriptive words around. Africans, Hispanics, Asians, etc. One thing that really pissed me off while reading the book is what the author (mother-daughter team where the mother is deaf and the daughter is hearing) said that hearing people do all to often. When they're in a super market and someone asks them politely to move aside, she obviously cannot hear them. It often gets to the point where the other person gets angry and shoves her aside -- what the hell happened to tapping someone on the shoulder to get their friggin attention?? I may not be deaf, but I do zone out a lot, so sometimes people need to shout to get my attention, but hearing about this kind of crap just really [Peter Griffon]grinds my gears.[/Peter Griffon] At any rate, it's been fun learning this unique language and I'm looking forward to practicing using in a couple of months.
  7. For me, Philly is an hours drive and the city is just a train ride away. Funny, I'm practically equidistant between both metropolitan centers and yet I never go to either of them lol. I think I've been to Atlantic City more often than either of them, but that goes with living 20 minutes outside of it for three years (not anymore though, now I'm 2hrs 20mins away lol).
  8. OFF-TOPIC Has it really? I thought the value of the US dollar was continuously falling, which was the reason the Canadian dollar surpassed it in value in the first place. I don't recall it ever increasing in value. /OFF-TOPIC
  9. Just borrow that Mini Cooper and you'll be fine! Lol. Make sure to leave the textbooks for those lit classes you hate so much behind in Canada! Worst case scenario you could just fly to one of the nearby airports. I don't think AC International does international flights (not even Canada, yeah it's stupid that they call it international, but no one ever said the Pineys were bright). Or bribe a friend into borrowing their car for the weekend!
  10. As much as Frost would say otherwise, there are also a few NJ destinations -- such as Atlantic City and the Wildwoods in Cape May. AC has the extensive boardwalk, the famous casinos, the Trump Marina (which was bought out, but I forgot by who), etc. The Wildwoods have the Wildwood Waterpark and Cape May naturally has beaches. If you don't want to go the coastal route, there is Six Flags in central NJ, Hershey Park in Hershey, PA, and Dorney Park in Allentown, PA. Yeah those last two aren't in NJ, but they're not too far from where I live. I'm pushing for the US instead of Canada because I don't much feel like going there. The reason is because border control is so tight-assed I might lose my cool with them. They might even go so far as to inspect my trunk and throw a shit-fit that most of it is concealed by the custom enclose that I built.
  11. It was probably the hat and glasses that did it, Tim. In that first picture you look sort of like a guy I work with who is in his fifties, since he wears that type of hat when he comes in. Take away those two and you would like look a lot younger. Honestly, I guessed that you were mid-20s in that picture.
  12. Philly also has a gay district. I haven't been there myself but I'm told it's fun.
  13. Thank you for proving my earlier point.
  14. I went to Chicago once. Well, more like I was dragged, kicking and screaming. Honestly I wasn't at all interested in it.
  15. I always knew you guys were perverts, lol. Two more reasons for Gary to hate Jack: Canada and Pennsylvania! LOL j/k! Or am I? *shifty eyes*
  16. I suggest the Northeast, but that's just me.
  17. Soda belly is nothing to be ashamed of. Heck, I like them! Muscle gods aren't hugely interesting, however "real" men are! I developed a soda belly after my freshman year of college... usually the "Freshman 15" comes about from drinking a lot of beer (refers to the average Freshman gaining 15 pounds), but mine was from Dr. Pepper, lol.
  18. 6'4" last I checked... and that was a few years ago (I better not have grown more LOL)
  19. I like having blue eyes -- I get to show my patriotism every early morning (red, white, and blue, lol).
  20. Overweight at 180??? SCREW YOU! Hahaha just kidding. I'm about 210 fully clothed, which is good for my height.
  21. Yes! He molested my hair! Really, he was pulling on it so hard that he pulled some out.
  22. I think that this is the best thing Kevin can do for the guy right now. Honestly, if I was in this guys shoes, I'd be very grateful. I know what it's like to not know any GLBT people (face to face, anyway). You realize of course you just called her a slut... unless she takes kindly to to that sort of thing? I do know more than one woman who flaunts their level of expertise...
  23. I haven't had product in my hair since I was ten years old. I've never worn cologne. I proactively preach against both every chance I get. He knew that and used them against me as torture devices! He's lucky he moved back to California... grr.
  24. The angry came shortly after the second pic, when he was kicked out of the bar for finishing a beer after the bartender flagged him lol.
