I think that Loren has totally over reacted to Jay's request and unfortunate motivation.
Loren is selfish in that Jay has spent many hours with Loren's "family" not once has he shown any rejection of that family, yet he has not even consented to spend one minute with Jay's family.
Jay must be feeling very hurt at this outright rejection from Loren and it shows in that he did not even try to stop Loren from leaving.
I also think that thing appear to have come to a sudden unplanned holt. If i was Jay i would give Loren the asked for space and will maybe try to pick things up again after spending the week with his parents. One thing for sure if i was Jay I would never again invite Loren to meet with my parents.
Hopefully when Loren talks to his shrink, the shrink wont coddle him and make him aware of how he is indirectly rejecting Jay's parents and how that may be hurting Jay.
