Matt was standing in front of the mirror dressing and thinking seriously about what vehicle he would like to take for his date. What kind of person would this clerk think I am if I show up in a Jaguar or an Audi? He is a clerk at a convenience store after all, and I don’t think that overwhelming him would be a good first impression. Listening to his thoughts he chided himself for his assumptions. Maybe he works there because he wants to and not because he needs money. He wasn’t convinced th

Matt reached his hotel and waved absently at Keri who was behind the front desk. He tried to like her, but it always seemed like she has something on her mind that she wasn’t telling him. He had made his home at the Trump International Hotel, just off the end of the new strip. He enjoyed Las Vegas as it truly was a city that never stopped and he could indulge in whatever he wanted to without a second glance in Vegas, even on rare occasion taking a man to his room. Over the past 2 years at th

Matt was keen on getting in a good ride. He was sweating loads, but didn’t let the salty streams running down his face, and occasionally into his eyes, slow his pace. His yellow and blue jersey hugged the muscles in his arms and shoulders and wicked away the moisture accumulating on the skin of his body. The tight black shorts offered the same affect and the added comfort of a layer of padding to soften the impact on his groin. After many a ride Matt cursed spending so much money on a bike t

The fence posts slid by silently as I stared out of the dirty windows of the Greyhound bus that I found myself on. I was headed toward the small town in northern Saskatchewan where I spent my younger years and adolescence. Like the town I would soon see, the bus hadn’t changed since I was on it years before as a child. It still held the scars of pocketknives, ballpoint pens, and permanent markers. The ashtrays that used to be full of smelly cigarette butts where now stuffed with wads of hardeni

Jordan, a boy of 11, develops a unique friendship with a silent boy on his way home from buying candy at the store.

“I’m sssimply sssaying it looksss ssscrumptous!” Kenny said wrapping his body around Eve's neck. “I don’t know, what if... You Know Who... found out?” “What’sss he going to sssay? Ssstop eating that apple! Big deal. He’ll get over it.” Kenny could see Eve hesitate and thought hard about how to get Eve to eat from the tree – because we all know snakes are evil, and we can tell this because they are slimy and have no eye lids! “Do you know why God doesssn’t want you to eat from the

Adam shook his head in wonder as he watched the hyenas. They were playfully crouching behind the mounds of sand the meerkat’s had built up in front of their burrows, and every time one of the little weasels would surface, a hyena would gently pounce, pluck it's fuzzy, slender friend up in its mouth and bring it back to the hyena den, where their little ones would play with it. That's friendship right there, Adam thought to himself, I wish I had a friend. Even Eve has a friend. It seems I'm th

"Adam!" "Adam!!" Adam got up from the rock he was leaning against and rounded on Eve. "What the hell do you want now? I can't get a moments peace around here without you harping on me about something!" "Well excuse me Mr. Lazy Ass but the garden needs tending!" "The garden always needs tending Eve, it's like massive! You have to chill once in a while too you know. Relax a little." "Just like a man! Always thinking about how to get out of work. Well let me tell you something Adam, this garde

Well I'm glad it gave you a laugh Sammy! This series will most likely be about 15 stories in length - I'm currently at 13 - so there more to come. Pink.

Relaxing casually against a rock, Adam rubbed his side, which had a bit of an ache this morning, and was pondering what he would do on this glorious day in the garden. He praised the Lord as his tiger friends playfully ran with the rabbits and Adam munched his celery stick with relish – not the relish that goes good on hotdogs, because of course Adam was vegan, and they hadn’t invented veggie hotdogs yet – but the relish of enjoying his meal. The crispness of the celery on his useless canines ma

Follow a series of awkwardness through biblical history in this tongue-in-cheek commentary of classic tales from the Bible.

Lol, I'm not sure. I tell you what, I'll post something completely different for my next story. Pink.

Many were typically Canadian and I spent my time wandering around them seeing if I could identify the places that were depicted. I thought I saw something of a prairie village I recognized, but it could have been any one of the thousands of towns in my current home province of Saskatchewan that looked exactly the same. Even the people that inhabited those small canvases, displayed in rows on the wall, were the same as back home - nondescript, plain, flat, generic in a way that was all too fami

Thank you Paul, I will continue to post new stories. Thanks for reading. pink.

Hey Sammy thanks for the feedback. I will let you know that I am an author that prefers to write stories of moments in time. As a short story writer I often leave parts of stories open. This gives me the option of coming back to them, but I think it also makes the reader do some of the work, and I prefer a more interactive style of writing. I actually get ideas for stories from my readers comments. Sorry it's not your preferred read, but I appreciate The feedback none the less. I look forward to more from you when I post more stories. Thanks for your support SammyB.

Lol, my apologies Lisa I keep telling people it's sad! I promise. To be truthful, I still cry when I read it, and I wrote the damn thing! If you're like me then there still more tears to come, but... your question about Joe dying before he met Charlie will be answered, so hang in there. All answers are coming in the last story of the series. I have it written and waiting to be posted when the admin people approve its publication, so I'm thinking it may be up tonight or tomorrow sometime. Thanks forbearing Lisa, enjoy the last story. Pink.

I. Meeting Joseph woke from his sleep and stretched lazily. The wooden bench was hard under his body, but fortunately his head rested on his lumpy pack. He sat up and looked around Union Station. It was empty. No one was there. Maybe they’re closed, he thought. His memory was hazy and he put his hand to his face. He felt no pain. Maybe it was a dream. He suddenly remembered something he wished he had forgotten for good. He remembered a man, who he trusted to help him, and he remembered the sam

Story 3 of the Finding Charlie trilogy. Joe passed away in our last story, but wants only one chance to say goodbye to the one he loves.
-
Sorry Paul, I know his story is sad, but please know it gets better : ) Pink.

I really liked this story, and it may have something to do with a recent flight I took, regardless the nature of the story itself needed things to happen very quickly, and this is not easy to pull off. I think you did a great job! Thanks for the read. Pink.
-
Well I'm glad you are intrigued. If we accept the premise that Joe is a ghost then it leaves us open to another possibility, which I will not let you know, but which will become evident in the title of my next story. Its written already, I'm just trying not to annoy the admin people ill post it late it he day today for you Sammy.

Chapter 1: Sheriff's Boys' Ranch, Earth Analogue
pDaisy commented on David McLeod's story chapter in Chapter 1: Sheriff's Boys' Ranch, Earth Analogue
Fascinating... -
I. Waking Crouching in the grass, his heart beating faster than he had ever felt it beat before, he stilled his breathing and pulled himself into a small ball under the cover of a tree that had fallen behind his family’s property. The grass was wet, and in the moonlight he could see the slight reflection off of the tiny drops of water as they made their way down to soil after he disturbed their sleep. His feet were scratched and bleeding from running through the woods. He didn’t have time to pu
