an ASMR person on youtube the other day got me thinking. with any massive fictious "universe" is it ever possible for anyone expect the author (and sometimes not even them) to know everything about it which lies in the public domain?
The thing is question was Star Wars, a franchise i know and care very little about, but i thought the conversation was interesting. another good example would be The Discworld perhaps (on which i recently won a bet, i don't know everything, but i know more than my brother-in-law).
As an example, my friend Tim knows an awful lot about an awful lot, including the history of film and cinema. he told me that there was in fact an almost totally different story to line much of the three original Star Wars movies. but then George Lucas's wife left him and so Princess Leah had to be all downtrodden and whatever the hell else (hence the slavery and famous golden bikini). not many people know this, including people who know lots about Star Wars. Apparently there are, and he has seen, original story boards and bits of script for these plot lines that never actually happened.
So, is it possible for anyone to know everything there is to know about a "franchise" for a better word?
