  3. i don't use flashbacks... i think ever, i use "out of timeline scenes" some of which double as flashbacks.

thank you very much Cole. this "short story" seems to have taken on rather a life of it's own. i blame my horse, he keeps giving me ideas.

    Night Train

Sam and Caleb get their little moments. and Caleb always has tricks!
  7. No they don't. you have missed the point of Nanowrimo completely. as the Baty-isms say, the first step in giving yourself permission to write a great novel is giving yourself permission to write a bad one. the point is to write.

    Chapter 1

you know this works for me. You know i think it's awesome and cool. But i thought i'd say it anyway. the perfect mix of despair, numbness and hope. perfect

  10. as requested - What To Do With The Bunny Your Husband Shot Through The Head one large bunny - skinned, gutted, and we jointed it into six three extra big carrots (we cut ours into irregular chunks) 1 white onion most of a 600ml bottle of cider salt, pepper, thyme and flour put the flour and seasoning with the thyme is a zip lock bag and drop the rabbit pieces in three at a time and toss to coat. fry in a decent frying pan with olive il and a tbsp of butter until browned. put the leg pieces of the rabbit in a casserole dish fry the onion, add more butter if needed. when soft place the onions in the casserole dish toss the carrots in the remaining flour and fry for a few mins (this helps them keep their shape) place in the casserole dish with any remaining flour. Deglaze the frying pan with some of the cider and then add cider (and mead) until the rabbit is just covered. bake in the oven for 45mins at about 160c. add the saddle pieces (these take much less time to cook) cook for between 1-2 hours depending on when dinner is served. you need the rabbit to be soft and falling off the bone. if you are smart as you are serving out you can remove most of the bones, watch out for the trick ribs and short bones from the shoulders. if enough people want it, next time we kill a bunny, i will do a photo play by play of how to gut and joint if someone *coughAJ cough* shows me how to do that spoiler thing for images so we don't scare the little ones.
  11. Does anyone need a dead rabbit?
  12. “We should do something tonight.” “Yeah?” Rhydian was driving back on the road again, which meant that he was keeping his eyes fixed out of the windshield and being careful. “Yeah,” Bryce’s hand on his knee was incredibly distracting, “I have a boyfriend now. We should go on a date.” “Haven’t we already been on a bunch of dates?” As soon as he said it, Rhydian was no longer sure that riding out to a lake or keeping Bryce company at the shop qualified as a date. Bryce squeezed his thigh gently
  13. Can we not just drink until someone passes out?

    Part Two

You're welcome Mister Wolf. glad you liked the boys and their slightly cute rollercoaster of a story.just you wait for winter!
  15. I thought this rocked. yes, generic enough to appeal to everyone, and it can be taken to mean so many different things. "Show me how big your brave is" i love that line. that song could uplift anyone to tell the truth about themselves; gay, straight, in love with your best friend, that you really want to be in a band and play music, that you want to quit sports and study to become an accountant. that you're a writer and you're proud of what you do... this is a damn good song. Also, i love that the lyric video is about a bunch of girls having a band at home and that one of them has braces.
  16. OH DEAR GOD NO!!!!

    Part Two

*struggles to read the tiny font*thanks very much Percy. as i said to WL? i knew i couldn't explore all the issues in a short story, so i left the end quite open. i'm glad you liked the accent, not corny is just what i was going for. thanks for the lovely review, even if it is hard to read!!

    Part Two

firstly - please recommend me these movies.secondly - i write from more of an empathic sort of view, but i value your comments. i don't think it is possibly to actually deal with all of Bray and Rei's issues, especially given the 20,000 limit. i left their ending rather open, because now they can deal with these issues in the big city.
  20. Happy Birthday Foopy!

thanks ma. i do my best with the boys who show up in my skull.
  23. No, they hate their english lessons. because most of the kids have never had the chance to read a book for pleasure without being forced to dissect it, and find this so-called "author intent" rubbish that english teachers are so keen on. Most of them have never written anything just for themselves. sure the the final aim of any writer is to get their stuff out there and make it good, but the point of Nano is just to sit and write. people who nano have to get rid of their inner editor, get over any ego that tells them to stop, removes all the obstacles to normally not completing. you sit, you write, you make the deadline. what you do with it afterwards, well that's up to you. my job is not to teach them grammar or the rules of writing. i am simply going to give them an avenue to enjoy it. it's not a lesson, I'm not getting paid. we are writing because we want to.

    I Am Fine

really nicely put together. i love the detail in the flashbacks, even though they are short. and i love the idea that being not fine can be better than being fine. a lovely piece of work. well done
  25. This what i thought too, it wasn't until i wrote something in this genre/taboo that i discovered how much of an issue it still is for some people. And that would be nice to see.
