I now see the benefits of "friends in high places" such that a discrete gentlemanly word in the correct ear is sufficient to dissolve one's concerns! Not very democratic or fair but at this level, it does oil the wheels of State.

Deliciously rich and complex, although somehow I care about all these characters and don't want them hurt. Most of my life is centred upon peacefully puffing on my pipe. That would never do for this high octane crew but I do wish them the hint of quietude from time to time

Our hero comes home to the more or less anticipated snake-pit of familial and political concerns but will probably navigate these with the same skills he deploys on his voyages through the World's waters. He is deservedly surrounded by a small but solid group of friends that are his core. Looking forward the renewal of his relationship with Nelson. Happy New Year, Mr. Arbour.

Gosh, what a roller-coaster ride and such a holiday treat for us. So glad Will avoids that nasty Mr. Trump. Intriguing what is going on between Zach and Travis. Travis does not get on with his Father but as many of us discover, he may be more of his Father's son than he wishes. Zack's arsehole side may more subconsciously mesh with Travis' need for paternal validation perhaps but I suspect Mr. Arbour will want to add an extra miniscule tweak that will leave us gasping. Season's greetings to all!

Double standards come into play. Our hero has been serving his country well along the way, but not exactly celibate and not to mention falling in love with the Tsar. However, "me too" is still two hundred years away so .... A wonderful story and I am so enjoying it

Lots of fuckwits with control issues around who could have harmed Travis, but Zach is the most angry I am guessing since he has lost both Will and Travis and his recent behaviour suggests that he believes es he can have everything. I might put a couple of pounds on Travis' sister, however. She also seems heedless of anything other than her own wishes

Our boy is really trying to build a solid relationship with Travis. For Travis, at this point getting close to Will may be like flying too close to the sun, but I have hopes

I love this even though I so despaired of another chapter that I had given up and only now just discover it. A full weekend of reading but so very worth the wait. I like this even better than the Lord of the Rings saga. It is gutsy, gritty and genuine. Love it, love it, love it. Thank you, Mr Aarons! Take as long as you want to produce the next chapter (tho not too long: I am 75), I am here for it.

Will continues his high octane life with barely a respite. The break with Zach is going to cost him a lot, however, and he is processing it well for the time being but I fear the full emotional kick-back may well be delayed and traumatic

Coming home is often a bitter sweet experience, old pleasures and resentments arise often in different garb. Has Granger grown enough to weather these? I am sure he has but politics and pride are a dangerous mix

Intriguing chapter with so many dilemmas one cannot see a way to a happy ending for all the characters. However, they are young, very young, so this is the beginning rather than a major inflection point for any of them. I am really looking forward to Curtis B. get his comeuppance - I despise control freaks

Money, love and betrayal, a heavy and highly toxic mix. Will is a resilient lad but trauma is being plied upon trauma. Somewhere, as the song asserts, 'somethings gotta give'

I am looking forward to the threesome between Will, Zach and Travis as they then to decide to go on Fox to demand marriage equality for throuples!

Imagine living in a world where you have to consider taking a recorder to a party to protect yourself (so much easier these days, of course). Not my world and I would hate it and be totally useless if I decided that it matter. Sure as hell making for a fun read, however.

Zach will always be Will's first love, but I hope that Will, young though he is, will meet meet someone his intellectual and emotional equal, perhaps someone who's values are from a completely different world
