Gotta say, whenever I hear someone say, ‘I’d spank my kids; my parents hit me and I turned out fine,’ my immediate reaction is, no you didn’t.
-
Lol! That’s what I like to hear! Creating a potentially embarrassing situation for my readers, what a treat! Glad you found it funny.
-
You’re right that feck and shite are good substitutes, though. Especially when they immediately conjure up the idea of an Irish accent, which, you know, I love.
-
Well, I can stop fucking censoring myself all the time, then.

Thanks, everyone. I found someone I know. Having a beer. Music is good. About the swearing, though... isn’t it bizarre, really? We’ve constructed these languages, pure inventions of ours, and have arbitrarily decided that there are some words in those languages you’re not allowed to say. Except you can, if you replace a letter or two, then it’s fine. Isn’t it bizarre that we, a proverbial room full of grown-ass adults, write f*ck or feck or frak, as though we didn’t know exactly what what we’re saying?

On my way to that festival I mentioned yesterday. Was gonna go with my mum, but her body isn’t up to it (it’s a back + hip thing), so I’m going on my own, and now my social anxiety is flaring up in a big way. There will be people there I know, but I haven’t arranged to meet anyone, so I feel like it’s gonna be really awkward...

Happy upcoming vanilla anniversary! ❤️

This. When you're literally writing porn and people chastise you because your characters are such potty-mouths....

gender & sexuality Conversation With My Mother

I like my real name, too. Just one more thing to confuse folks with, I guess. -
The whole real life Santa thing isn't really a thing over here. Or wasn't when I was a kid, not the meet Santa and tell him what you want for Christmas part. Some families have someone dress up as Santa and show up on Christmas and give the kids gifts. My family never even did that. Instead, after Christmas dinner, my mum would take me to the toilet, or to do something important or whatever, and when I got back the presents would just be there, under the tree. No one ever said, 'Look, Santa's been here!' That was for me to say and the grown-ups were all, 'Really? We didn't even see him!' That way, no one ever lied to me. It was my story, my game, and when I realised Santa wasn't real, it was no big deal, because no one had ever actually told me he was, and I played along for years after that.

Yeah, I've read about that too. So, I know that I'm an intelligent, well adjusted person. ...wait.

I think because I'm European, cursing is less of a big deal. I mean, it really is. People in general swear more here. There's nothing shocking about it. So writing stories about grown-ass human beings (or teenagers) without having them swear would just feel way unrealistic to me. But you have my regular stories, where swearing totally occurs, and then you have The Jacob and Marcus tales, which literally started as an exercise in creative swearing and spun out of control when both I and my readers fell in love with the dysfunctional pair of assholes I made... Still, got some backlash from people who told me there was too much swearing. And I was like, it's there, in the description, contains gratuitous swearing. It's the whole point. Also, coming of age stories and stories with teen characters are almost always the most popular stories on this site. Same happens to me.

Oh, in private messages I curse all the time... And I mean, I don't know if you've read any of my stories, but I don't think I've ever written a completely clean one in my life. Except that one kids' story I wrote.

Sounds like a good day. Markets are fun. All cheesecake is good cheesecake.

I did that when tim mentioned it in that thread on piercings and tattoos in the Lounge a while back. Impressive, really, how people come up with stuff like that. I mean, you have to wonder how the first person to do it came up with the idea. 'Hm, I wonder where else on my body I can poke holes?' (For clarification: there is nothing wrong with any kind of body modification done by consenting adults. Just interesting how many things people come up with. We're an inventive species for sure.)

Good morning, molly! All right here, and you?

Butter fixes everything.

You're so refined. ...do you guys have any idea how much I censor my language when I'm on here?
-
Beautiful as always.

I dunno... It's all shite to me, tbh. 'Let me go get my shite together and I'll be out of your hair.'

Oh, when it comes to fighting and stuff like that, I like it easy. I have a Fallout 4 mod that makes survival mode easy fighting wise, while you still have to eat, rest in order to heal, sleep at night (and to make hard saves, though it allows quick saves), and so on. And there's a version of Campfire for Fallout 4, too, so you can set up camp for the night instead of clearing a house of ghouls every time you need to rest.

Gotta say I agree with tim here. For one, sometimes you're talking to a person who's knowledgeable about something in a way that you aren't, and that just reading up on the subject can't teach you to be. You can't learn something in a few hours reading that takes people whole degrees to even just scratch the surface of. It's good to fact check and verify what you're told if you can, but if it's a subject you're unfamiliar with, how can you even be sure which sources are biased or not? For another, outside of hard sciences, there is no such thing as empirical truth. Everything about human society is a construct. Language is made up. The words we use to describe the world are made up. Even within hard science there are principles that only work because we've all agreed that they do. Because we've decided that this is the way numbers work, physicists can calculate how the universe works, but numbers work that way because we have agreed that they have; it makes perfect sense within the system we've made, and it tends to line up with observable data, but it's still a system we have constructed. ...okay, it's way too early in the morning to question everything. I'm gonna get a cup of tea. EDIT: Also, 🍰

The wikipedia article I found (one on BDSM devices) was well illustrated with photos. For educational purposes, of course. Problem with modding a game is that you get so used to the mods that removing them just feels like you're ruining it. Also, if you remove mods you more often than not have to start clean games... I like survival mods, like Campfire and Frostfall and mods where you have to eat and you can die from diseases, and couldn't imagine playing the game without them.
