  1. Nicko, If you want to get your stories noticed more, I'd suggest posting them to Nifty besides just the eFiction section and CRVboy. Nifty gets A LOT of traffic, and that's a good place for any author to start out, build up a fanbase, etc. Putting a link back to GA and the eFiction site at the bottom of the chapters you post would also bring more attention to the eFiction section, and pretty soon, you'll see new members joining, and under "Favorite Net Authors" in their profiles, it'll say "Nickolasjames8" ... anyway, that's basically what I did ... start from Nifty, maybe then get a Yahoo! group, and just keeping doing what you're doing ... writing! Good luck! Buddha
  2. Welcome aboard, Boxerdude! I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and thank you for sharing your thoughts and comments. I think you'll enjoy participating in the discussions ... just be wary of the two dudes who have pictures of goats as their avatars ... they're troublemakers! hehe *Hugz* Buddha
  3. Chapter 19 of SOOTB is posted, in case any of y'all are interested in reading it or anything ... So, anyway, I was chatting with Kitty the other night, and we got on the topic of one of my ex-boyfriends here in Taiwan. Of the several guys I've had serious relationships with here, this is the only one where we broke up not because of any problem between us, but because his family was totally insane and totally freaked out that he was gay, not to mention dating a foreigner! *gasp* But that's a long story ... Of course, Kitty got me to thinking about him, and I didn't really want to leave here without saying good-bye to him or letting him know where I was going and sort of what I was planning on doing, even though I knew that seeing him again would be hard ... because I still like him ... no, I still LOVE him. Anywho, yesterday morning I sent him a text message and asked if he wanted to get together ... and no reply. Then yesterday afternoon, my cell phone rang, and it was him ... and he was waiting for me up the road at the closest subway station. For some reason, he decided not to call earlier and tell me he was coming ... he just showed up. It'd been a while since I'd seen him. He'd let his hair grow out quite a bit, and had a bit of the "scruffy facial hair" look going on (which I dont like, btw), but on him ... he was still as gorgeous as ever. To make a long story short, we talked for a while, about the past and what we planned on doing in the future, and hugged/cuddled a bit. That was probably the hardest part ... the cuddling. We may not have seen each other in a long time, but my body certainly hadn't forgotten his. We'd met up one other time since we were dating and cuddled then, too. Again, like the last time, we kept our clothes on ... although this time I really didn't want to, but that's life, I suppose ... and if anything more had happened, it probably would have made it even more difficult. *sigh* So now, I'm really in the mood to listen to Fleetwood Mac's Tango In the Night album, but I didn't bring that one to Taiwan with me. I could listen to Meat Loaf, too, I suppose ... or maybe I'll just sit here and smoke a couple packs of cigarettes, wallow in my own self-pity, and write some really depressing stuff.
  4. Chapter 19 is posted ... http://littlebuddhatw.gayauthors.org/SOOTB/SOOTB19.html Many, many thanks to Kitty for another wonderful job editing! And there's a little surprise if you check out the main page of my story site ... ENJOY! *Hugz* Buddha
  5. The cute, curly-haired, piano playing boy from SOOTB is CONNOR ... not CONNER ... sheesh ... *Buddha goes back to working on really hot summer anthology story*
  6. When Kitty tells me! But seriously, there are always things I want to change, or re-work, or add, or delete ... but as Lurker said, you get to a point where you just need to let it go. The process of me writing a chapter (or short story) starts with me writing the original draft, then sending it off to my editor (Kitty), during which time I'll think of things that I don't like and want to change. Then, I'll get the first draft back with corrections and suggestions ... sometimes I'll just stick to those if I haven't thought of anything else I'd like to add or change, and other times I'll change quite a bit. The chapter/story then goes back to Kitty for a second check, then back to me again. Sometimes I'll just make the corrections that Kitty has suggested, and other times I might change a little more. But after that, I post it, otherwise I'd be re-working and re-writing until the cows came home. I'll only go back and change something after it's been posted if it's a mistake (like a person's name has suddenly changed to something else part way through a story ... ). But, anyway, editors are important. Not only to fix stupid mistakes, but just having a fresh set of objective eyes helps a lot. Kitty has picked up on things or thought of things that never would have crossed my mind. Just like in the "real" writing world, every author needs an editor.
  7. Haha! I was just thinking the same thing!
  8. Jeez, with all these expectations, I hope I remember to post the chapter this weekend ...
  9. My gaydar has been known to be highly accurate. Actually, it's all about knowing how to read people in general. Like, I could tell from the first time that I chatted with BoyNeedsTherapy that he was a TOTAL poofter!!! *Smoochies for Benny* Buddha
  10. I suppose I should feel lucky that I've managed to survive five years in Taiwan without being involved in a single traffic accident (although I've seen my share of dead bodies lying in the street), considering how Taiwanese DRIVE LIKE FRIGGIN' INSANE MANIACS WITH NO CONCERN FOR ANYONE ... and that may sound like a broad generalization or stereotype or whatever, but it's not ... every single Taiwanese person who operates a motor vehicle drives like a reckless lunatic with no regard for safety, the law, or anything else. I've seen a mom, dad, four small children, and a dog on one 500cc scooter before -- on more than one occasion -- with only the mom and dad wearing safety helmets. That's just one small example of the INSANITY here. Anyway, so tonight as I was walking home from buying my dinner of fried rice, pork dumplings, and stir-fried veggies, I was standing ON THE CURB waiting to cross the street, and got hit by some idiot on a scooter. I'm surprised that my whole left arm didn't get ripped off ... although I've got a huge bruise running up my left arm now. Once I'd realized what happened, realized that my left arm was going to be out of commission for a counter-attack, and chose to attempt to knock the helmet off his head with a side kick, the jerk had sped off with a weak "dui bu qi" (sorry) ... he didn't even stop. I was most disappointed that I wasn't fast enough to enact my revenge, or even shout off a series of nasty Taiwanese slurs about his mother. So, yeah, I was mad ... and am still mad. And I'm going to be angry at Taiwan for the next 30 days until I get out of here. I just got the first edit of Chapter 19 back from Kitty. Usually I make the corrections and send it back for the second edit right away, but my arm really hurts, and I'm in a pissy mood, so I'll do it later. Oh ... and the school's library finally accepted the electronic version of my thesis after rejecting it once because they're idiots, requiring me to call them and be not so nice. I've learned that being nice here doesn't get you very far. Taiwan is a dog eat dog world, and no one cares about anyone else. Anyway, my fried rice is getting cold. *sticks up middle finger at Ihla Formosa and stomps off angrily*
  11. In a word: Yes Seriously, though, I think there's a little bit of both, at least for me. I'm not sure about other authors, though. "Seeking Nirvana" was written very differently from SOOTB. I'll talk more in detail about the writing process of SOOTB when the story's finished.
  12. Buddha needs to protect his privacy! So ... no more pictures after that one ... sowwy!
  13. Many, many thanks to Joey for moving this thread from the "Story Cafe" to the new forum! *Hugz* Buddha
  14. Many, many thanks to Joey for moving the old thread from the "Story Cafe" to the new forum! *Hugz* Buddha
  15. If you're new to the forum, please feel free to leave a brief message here, introduce yourself, or whatnot. We're kind of like a little family, and hope to get to know everyone better ... and please DON'T BE SHY TO POST MESSAGES IN THE FORUMS!
  16. Congratulations on being a full hosted author and having your own forum now ... it's pretty cool, eh? And I'm anxiously awaiting the next chapter of FBTE! *Hugz* your friendly neighborhood Buddha
  17. So my blog has become a place for discussing computer technology? lol
  18. I only change things like minor editorial mistakes (I can recall one verb tense mistake in Ch. 1 that I fixed only a few weeks ago) or typos that very rarely get past Kitty or I, and if they're pointed out to us (like the "Ethan" inconsistency), I'll go back and change them. Other than that, I don't make changes.
  19. Hmmm ... Vance likes the picture I have posted better than the shirtless one of me in boxers! lol Or I could always just switch back to the picture of Elton John in a tutu ...
  20. Haha ... I just put a fairly recent photo of me (January 2006) in my profile ... I'll leave it there for the next 24 hours in case anyone wants to see that I'm really not that good-looking ... and after that, I'll switch it back to that hot pic of Edison Chen, my favorite Chinese pop singer! *drools*
  21. "My Coming Out Story" has been reformatted and edited a bit for inclusion on my new site, so if you haven't read it yet, or would like to see the updated version, go check it out ... and it's entirely true ... http://littlebuddhatw.gayauthors.org/short...coming_out.html *Hugz* Buddha
  22. Sorry for joining in so late on this one ... but things have been really hectic with my move and getting my thesis stuff completed, so I just got the chance to read DIR 14 a couple days ago. As usual, it was a great chapter, and it's nice to see that Davey is finally have the chance to live out a somewhat "normal" life again, albeit much better off than the first time around, and to be able to share it completely with Brian. I'm also glad that he got to live out one of his dreams ... playing Olympic baseball. The thing about him going after OBL is definitely an interesting twist, and I'm dying of curiosity to see how that turns out!!!
  23. How about we get back to discussing Chapter 18, instead of discussing the boring books I wrote eons ago ... There are still lots of posters we haven't heard from yet, and I, for one, am anxious to hear their opinions, no matter how brief they are ... C'mon, now, don't be shy! *Hugz* Buddha
  24. This is the most recent story by EleCivil (EleCivil@gmail.com), who also happens to be a member of GA, and is an excellent read ... both sweet and with EleCivil's unique sense of humor. 25. There are some really good, popular stories by Josh (btomandback@hotmail.com) that I think would make very good additions to the story archive: Title: Sea Change Member: No Link: http://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/highschool/sea-change/ Genre: Modern: Teens Codes: tt, tb, oral, anal Status: Completed Title: The Least of These Member: No Link: http://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/highschool/...least-of-these/ Genre: Modern: Teens Codes: tt, tb, oral, anal Status: Completed Title: Sealing Our Fate Member: No Link: http://www.awesomedude.com/stories/SOF/sea..._fate_title.htm Genre: Modern: Teens Codes: tt, oral, anal Status: In Progress I'm too lazy to write descriptions at the moment, but I'm sure anyone who's read these could come up with a nice, succinct description.
