Thank you for this chapter, it's a lovely way to end a story that could not end happily. However, I don't share the viewpoint that Aaron decisions are the reason the Hayes family fell apart. Aaron was 17, of course he was selfish, foolish and made rash decisions; it's part of the job requirement at that age. Fred Hayes' colossal fall from grace is Fred Hayes' fault. For him to have such a complete transformation, Fred was already of questionable stability and was likely to have reacted just as dramatically to finding that Aaron was gay. The real selfishness behind the Hayes family demise is Fred's for his unhealthy regard for Aaron and Martha's for wallowing in her own guilt and letting Fred destroy her family. That's the real tragedy IMHO.
