Chapter Six: The Morning After the Night Before
Tuesday morning arrived with the grey, grudging reluctance of a day that knew it was about to be awful.
Taine had barely slept. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Charlie's face—his own face, looking back at him with that dawning, wondering expression. Heard Charlie's voice: *"I kinda wanna try it again."* Felt the phantom weight of hands that were technically his own but also not, moving with a confidence that had nothing t
The beta readers of this book @Paladin and @Seraph28 both said the same thing when giving me their EVER VALUABLE feedback on it. This story is troubling, and thought provoking, and it isn't supposed to feel good. It's designed to make us think about the technology we allow into our lives that is constantly monitoring us. And the potential ways that unscrupulous people ARE monitizing that access to our lives.
But winning, in the end, is important. Tim's positioned, Ben is off the leash, and Justin isn't going to stand by. The Director will be unmasked.
Ok two more chapters of this one.
Then I will be releasing these two in the morning slot (my action adventure hour)
My first foray into Fantasy, so be kind to me. Ser Darien and his Squire, Wylan, are setting off from the First Crusade, pursued by the relentless Seljuk Sorcerer-Prince Ishan ibn Fadil al'Kalijj and the LEGENDARY Sultan Kalijj Arslan. The road to Jerusalem is full of betrayal, deep cost, and loss. But a blind gay Squire becoming a Saint was unexpected, and changes the fate of all he comes into contact with.
They actually make a mention of hearing the plan (the viewers) they "Love this angle" It's playing in a new and exciting way for them. i think they celebrate Wildcard Ben, who, let's face it, is soooo much better than icky Justin #TeamBen4EVA !
Like, let's tip $50 if he wears the swim trunks into battle...
(Icky, need to go wash now)
It makes me shudder, there was a report recently of a guy that had hacked webcams all over the world, and would live stream the feeds. Every intimate moment, every time they'd change, use the bathroom, had sex... all on display. Pay him a premium and he'd hack people on demand. A stalker's paradise.
Chapter 18: The Paywall
The pizza arrived, a greasy cardboard monolith promising a fleeting, ordinary comfort. It sat between them on the scarred floorboards of Ben’s room, its scent of pepperoni and melted cheese a stark, almost offensive contrast to the sterile new laptop that now dominated the space. The box remained unopened. Appetite was a memory.
Tim’s fingers were ice. He stared at the sleek, silver device, the Blue Archivist logo—a stylized, abstract ‘A’—glowing softly
Whelp I just finished book one of my blind Squire book which is fun.
i am going to have to write another, to keep the story going. It's proving to be fun, and the First Crusade is rather rich to mine in a historical fantasy kind of way.
Little Lord Wylan is proving a commendable protagonist.
Orel's magic is more localized to making every boy in Merrickville, or arrives in... or passes thorugh suddenly pop into a gay revelation. He does own the resevior.
Unfortunately the demons know to stay the heck away from him, lest they get turned into Isopods and added to his terrarium.
They loved themselves for four hours... Least Charlie got some answers to his questions.
Now Taine needs a bottle of holy water to stop himself from humping his own... oh I give up... Matt was right, this is confusing.
Chapter Five: The Regency, The Romance, and The Repulsed
The world ended in a scream of stained glass.
One moment, Taine was holding Morgan's necklace, watching her face twist from fury to something else—something that looked almost like fear. The next, the church windows exploded outward in a cascade of coloured light, and the air itself *screamed*.
Lilith's voice, layered with harmonics that made his teeth ache: "Morgan, you *idiot*—"
Then nothing.

It's when they go outside the town and realize there's an apocalyptic wasteland out there, and a dog pulling leavers in a roadside toilet is the President.
one advantage to being a player, is they get to see the scale of this game through the archivist portal.
Bread and circus is big business to the right advertisers.
Chapter 17: The Devil's Bargain
Silence.
It was the only thing left in the world. It wasn’t the peaceful quiet of a library or the gentle hush of a snowfall. This was a dense, heavy, suffocating silence, the kind that filled the spaces where hope had been. It was the silence of a tomb, and Tim was the body inside.
He lay on the bare mattress in Ben’s room, staring at the water-stained ceiling. He hadn’t moved in hours. His body was a lead weight, his mind a scorched plai
