It's a poignant reminder that we don't have codified rights here, and that our government over here revokes them at a whim.
One thing I miss about Canada, and respect about the United States, your rights are enshrined, ours are Privileges that can, and often are, dismissed. They have just instituted, for example, a system that logs (via the street cameras) where your car goes, journeys start to finish, and an AI decides if you might be doing something illegal. No vote on this, no choice by the public, this has just been done. And of course this data is sold to companies for "research" purposes.
