    Prologue

  2. *** Book Two of El Coyote *** Brian Higgins is hiding a lie. He must convince the boy he loves to go on a dangerous mission for the Canadian Government. His handler knows that Alex Alvarez is the son of the elusive Grey Eminence: El Coyote Now in a race against time to stop the Canadian Hydro Electric system from collapsing and taking down the entire US Power Grid with it, Brian must convince a boy he's lying to to do the right thing. Meanwhile the Water Wolf stalks it's prey in the great Canadian Wilderness.
  3. Chapter 01: The Unwelcome Silence The impact was less a landing and more a controlled, violent slap. The amphibious pontoon plane hit the mirror-smooth surface of the lake, throwing up twin curtains of spray that momentarily swallowed the world. The force bucked Alejandro Alvarez hard against the thick, utilitarian leather of his seat harness. Next to him, Brian Higgins laughed, a sound of pure, unadulterated joy that cut easily through the deafening shriek of the twin turboprop
  4. Prologue: The Water Wolf's Claim Target Acquisition (03:00 EST) The Brisay Hydro Electric Dam was not merely a facility; it was a testament to isolation, a colossal fortress of concrete and steel built to dominate the brutal nature of northwestern Quebec. It sat at the farthest reach of civilization, over a thousand kilometers of unforgiving wilderness from the nearest major city, marking the remote terminus of the lonely Trans-Taiga Road. Brisay, part of the immense James

    Chapter 10

He climbed into the ring with the Dark Sovereign. Expect him to come out with a black eye, a few broken ribs, and his ego in tatters. It's funny as I wrote him here, I think I realized that there were two sides to Andrew. The noble hero, and the Dark Sovereign, both critical to the survival of Will in this book. DS is every shadow that the state relies on. The cost of which, though, is the greatest test.

    Chapter 10

West knows. You don't survive two tours in a war zone without learning who is and isn't a jackass.

Chapter Ten WORLD END: T-minus 111 days, 11 hours, and 1 minutes National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ), Carling Avenue, Ottawa. Joint Operations Command Center. The heavy air inside the National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) reeked of military discipline: stale air conditioning and the sharp, metallic tang of unspent kinetic energy. This was not the familiar, compartmentalized paranoia of CSIS; this was the raw, unyielding power of the Canadian Armed Forces. Andrew Carter

    Chapter 20

Andrew has always been written as a ruthless operator. He does what he needs to do to protect the State. So he seemed the ideal person to put a Giraffe Leather Leash on the son of El Coyote.

    Chapter 9

Andrew is getting pushed further, and further to the thin ice.

Tomorrow Coyote vs the Water Wolf. I wonder if Brian signs. :: taps jaw thoughtfully ::
  14. Chapter 20: The Cost of Victory The cabin of the Dassault Falcon 8X was a sanctuary of hushed leather and polished wood, insulated entirely from the roar of the massive jet engines and the chaotic world they were fleeing. But it could not insulate against grief. Alex Alvarez sat angled toward the panoramic window, his gaze fixed on the endless, retreating expanse of Canadian winter. The landscape was a broken white mosaic interspersed with the dark geometry of forests and lakes, falling awa

Chapter Nine WORLD END: T-minus 112 days, 2 hours, and 0 minutes The route to the Federal Courthouse, Ottawa, Ontario The heavy atmosphere inside the Armored Rescue Vehicle (ARV) was cold, smelling of stale diesel, high-grade Kevlar, and sweat. The vehicle, a thick-skinned, slab-sided war machine, was the second in the three-vehicle motorcade. Ahead was a lead armored escort; behind them, Yuri, the priceless intelligence asset, was sealed inside a purpose-built Pri

    Chapter 19

yes, Water Wolf will go live on Monday I do have to finish the Third Order book, and there is the third Watchers book as well. So I have a busy plate. These are more... popcorn books, stuff designed to let me experiment and get better at action writing. Building on my skills as a writer. the next book of this series is VERY much Kenny and Steve's hero moments. Our little Chaos monkey, and order guardian are set to save the world.

    Chapter 19

I just finished Coyote vs the Water Wolf, coming in at 20 chapters. rather tired, but starting to plan Coyote Steals the Sun. I am enjoying naming these after the old Native American Coyote Myths. Last one will be Coyote Holds the Wind.

    Chapter 19

  20. Chapter 19: Exit Strategy The sudden, chaotic silence following the drone’s final, shattering broadcast was the definitive marker of a changed reality. It was the sound of a countdown clock zeroing out, signaling the end of tactical planning and the start of raw, primal action. Alex, sprinting from the safe room, felt the icy grip of panic—the fear of a police trap, the terror of Brian's capture—loosen its hold, replaced by the white-hot, singular focus of the hunter. Skinner had run, and t

    Chapter 8

Yes The Director General is the top of the totem pole. Andrew is the Deputy Director of Operations, second in charge if you will, or top lieutenant to the DG. Richardson is Assistant Deputy Director of Operations, Andrew's lieutenant, and third in the chain of command for Operations. It's a bit more convoluted than this in real life, but for the story purposes, yes the DG is Andrew's direct boss, a more political role than Andrew's more operations based one.

    Chapter 8

I rather liked the DG, I wanted someone different to Andrew, and I thought well, what kind of roles do we have. Originally i was going to have West do the interrogation, and when I wrote it... it just didn't work. And I figured, who... then I remembered a scene from an old movie where an interrogator peeled and apple while talking to the target and I thought, how can I make that more my own. And then it hit me, what was the DG before he was the DG, and it all came together from there.
