#Chapter Thirty-two I was always taught to know when it was time to go. And my final day in Ottawa came far too quickly. Jimmy had resigned from the government, with good letters of recommendation, and best wishes from the lovely people there he was getting out just ahead of the great change. Paul Martin’s government had finally toppled, and the Conservatives were finally taking power. There were a lot of other government workers leaving at the same time, pulling their parachutes and h

This happened to me, so yeah... England... it's just gotten worse and now it is all online.

Well that wasn't supposed to go live yet... I am still working on it... but hi and welcome to my latest controlled chaos of a story. Don't judge too harshly, and feedback is rather important. I wrote this an hour ago.

Steve's a wrecking ball of boredom, intelligence, and drama... except no one believes him. At all. Especially not straight laced, Baptist, All-Canadian repressed jock Kenny Jensen who is convinced Steve is out to pull a prank on him. Lydia, Steve's sister, all around smartest girl in the room, and utterly fed up with Steve's BS, sees the truth. But will the two boys? No chance, Lydia's going to have to fix it. Uggh, boys, why are they so dumb?

Chapter 1: The Goofball and the Captain Steve's hair, a dark, perpetually unruly curtain, fell over his electric blue eye as he leaned against the lockers. He had a singular, pressing task for the afternoon: retrieve his English paper from Mr. Wolchowski's desk. The paper, a masterpiece of literary deconstruction on The Catcher in the Rye (which Steve had, of course, never read), was the final piece of the puzzle. It was a fake. A prop. This particular prank had been weeks in the makin

Indeed, that definitely complicates things. Book III is going to have a rather fun start... still... Hugo's Christmas present it going to be a double edged sword. Two times the fun vs two times Stoker-itis... poor Hugo... he's going to need a place to hide from those two.

I don't know what Thomas will do with TWO Stokers in the mix... one was bad enough... now he has to share his Hugo with ANOTHER Alec... poor Thomas, he's going to have to eat one. Just to restore the balance in the universe... I wonder if they can be dipped in ketchup? Uggh, for a monster that prefers his food to taste like misery and sadness... can you imagine how vile Stoker's happy go lucky charming goof energy is going to taste? Nope, Thomas isn't going to do that... he doesn't like eating vegetables!

It won't be that long. Order is nine chapters in. And Watchers: Shattered Citadel will take place after that is written. I am also finishing OT today, so that frees up a lot of my day. I think I will write something new for tomorrow. Something light and happy, I think we all need a bit of goofy fun.

One more Chapter to go.

Up Stairs – 1953 – November 25th The Tides of Time lounge was a sensory assault. The air was thick with the scent of stale liquor and cigarette smoke, the constant hum of a hundred intersecting conversations forming a wall of white noise that Miller navigated with a singular purpose. His team was a no-show, their absence a silent and damning signal that Dottie’s carefully laid plans had dissolved. He was on his own. All the rehearsed protocol, the calculated timing—

#Chapter Thirty-One Being ill sucks. Recovering because some inconsiderate dick thought it was a good idea to introduce your head to a bat just because they wanted to get up close and intimate with your wallet was something Jimmy loathed. Wil flitting about like a nursemaid… now that really, really sucked. Jimmy loved him to pieces, but Wil was about as compassionate as a rabid wolverine on Adderall. He’d arrived at the hospital the night Jimmy had been admitted. With the subtlety of a

Operation Cerberus, and the Shattered Citadel

I struggled with this one. I was very resistant to having Hugo do this, it felt like he was cold blooded. Till @Jeff Burton read it and gave me feedback on it. Hugo's been through utter hell, the grinding loops, the separation, witness to the murder of his husband, to torture of the misinformation fed into the AOI, and finally the lobotomy. Thomas warned Hugo what will happen if he does what he had to do to free Alec, and Dottie wrought this. Her actions brought about her own fate. Now to see the fall out.

New York – 1953 – November 25th The heavy steel door of the building’s main entrance groaned shut with a final, echoing thud. The world outside, that dull gray street, was gone. This new space was a stage—a great cavern of polished stone and dark wood with towering columns and a vaulted ceiling that vanished into a high, distant ceiling. Thomas, a faint, unsettling silhouette in the shadows, felt the air stir with anticipation. The brass elevators gleamed, and

God's this guy, yes... it's funny because he KEPT asking me out even after this. Trying to get me alone in a tent... I think he was an asshole because he thought he had to be. Something was off there, and I never got to the bottom of it. I just found him dull as anything. And considering Romeo, he was... tame.

I hadn't touched a drop that night. I just couldn't tell the difference. I just assumed and was so busy hating myself for what I thought I had done that I didn't realize how bad I really was.

#Chapter Thirty “You’re going to have to acknowledge me at some point Jimmy.” Jimmy sighed as he kept walking, there was no point in acknowledging him. It wouldn’t do any good. “Sooner or later you’re going to realize you can’t lie to me.” ~~*~~ It was the dull ache in his side that probably was the first thing he remembered. Kind of an ache that was like a fist was wrapped around one of his kidneys and was squeezing it, hard. Uncomfortable, and radiated through his stom

One of those character left field moments. There I am happily writing, and Stoker just pulls his ball of chaos right in the middle of everything. And we all know his patience is sitting somewhere around Zero, and when it comes to Hugo Stoker, he gets his way. And he ain't done.

Thomas has no concept of different kinds of love. No concept of expressions of such, not really. he's a reflection of Stoker's fears, so he has an awareness... but less so than if he'd manifest from Hugo's version of Thomas.

Eight times... just wait.

Was up all night, so hit publish when I was figuring I'd probably go back to bed. But wanted to see people's reaction to my favourite chapter of this book.
