  1. There is a reason AIs were never advanced in the Imperial order. That reason is twofold; firstly an AI is a form of life with the potential to exceed man. That in and of itself was heresy against the word of the Bishops’ Order. The second reason was that AIs were supposed to be possessed with a cold, mechanical logic. As was demonstrated with the Excalibur, this was not the case. An AI was susceptible to emotions such as fear, concern, love and hate. Emotions should never control the kind of fir
  2. Canada House, Trafalgar Square, United Kingdom Nestled proudly on the corner of Trafalgar Square, Canada House stood as a bastion of maple and stone amidst London's historic grandeur. An imposing neoclassical facade, a stately counterpoint to the vibrant churn of buses and tourists, it housed a diplomatic gravitas unique a nation built on equality, diplomacy, and fairness. Sunlight, when it broke through the London haze, caught the intricate carvings and the gleam of polished brass on
  3. Beat the drums He comes. He comes. From the Lion’s Pride, They hide. They hide. The sword will fall. They crawl. They crawl. -Aurora Jackson ‘Ballad of the Templar King’ Lex Talionis –Yeji-Sola System The mighty hatch began to unlatch, the unique locking system disengaging as twelve seal bolts hissed and withdrew in sequence, a rush of gasses escaping as the door pushed outwards and split apart, sliding aside, opening on the darkness beyond. First, one green

    Chapter 4

I wanted to show that he is good beyond the MI5 support, that independent he is very capable. I admit this book is difficult to write as I am trying to think ten steps ahead of myself. Challenging in a good way.
  5. Thames House, London, United Kingdom Andrew had stepped outside to call Will, something about monumental disasters always had him reaching out to his husband. A subconscious need to always confirm that Will and Jacob were alive, and unhurt, that by confirming they were, he confirmed that he was. Will's voice on the line immediately grounded Andrew, despite the professional chaos that spun around them. “I saw the news,” Will said before anything else. “Jacob's at home, with me, he's dra
  6. I didn't actually write that biography. It's got a few inaccuracies, I think I remember it though it was doing the rounds back around the early two thousands. I didn't realize there were still websites up with it out there. Also I need to kick the publishers to fix links. Might do a second edition run if I get the time. But that involves a lot of coffee, time, and masochism. So yeah buy my books, ya cheap gits
  7. but then he wouldn't get to call him Carter, which he's done since the beginning. Plus it opens up all kinds of fun Canadian frustrated moments he can blame for catching Carter-itis, and that it is spreading in the form of 7 year old toothless anklebiting Carter-sprogs.
  8. A true man is never beaten; he merely retreats till he can find a path to victory! -Kardiac ‘The Templar’s Edict’ HMS Excalibur –Yeji-Sola System The twin transports that had been used to jump the Excalibur pulled back behind the Command Carrier, their jump pods retracting as they tightened in. Their crews maintained safe distances while the Excalibur’s BARCAP launched from the Ark-Royal’s flight deck, taking up a defensive posture around the Excalibur, F-175 fighters mixed
  9. Ok to clarify. The stories start with Book one: Carter's Army and follow Will Carter through the next ten years of his life. Growing from a boy into adulthood, and eventually into him becoming a Politician in Canada. The last book of that cycle was Carter's Recourse. The new book is a continuation of the stories, but told primarily from Andrew's perspective and start ten years after Carter's Recourse, and are set in 2015. It *is* a continuation of the story of the two boys you read about in Carter's Army all those years ago. Just, older, wiser, and with more joint pain. At the advice of Myr, I was asked to set a second series for the books from Andrew's perspective. So same world, as the stories here are categorized by World, Series, and book. Hope that helps.
  10. Yep can confirm that it is me. And yes it is the same Saga. I've been writing it for twenty something years. :)

    Chapter 3

hmm good points, the attack was focused on a housing complex. I should edit that in. As for shooting them, that I think comes from the Rules of engagement. But also a good point, I will edit that too, thank you.

    Chapter 3

I apologize in advance, Friday's are my weekly hospital trips. the Vampires need their bloods, and as such I am going to try to get tomorrow's chapter done today. But I cannot guarantee, I usually allot mornings for my writing, afternoons for edits and research. Evenings will be the Falcon Banner postings. So just be warned there may be a delay. No planned edits or revisions to this chapter, unlike yesterdays which had tonal and descriptive changes (purists will want to pop back and note the changes. But they aren't needed to move on with the story). As usual, get off yer rears and provide feedback before I mark you all down five points at the end of term.
  13. Thames House, London, United Kingdom The final crack of the pistol snapped through the gloom as it struck the target clear and cleanly. The bullet casing bounced once off of wall, before hitting the floor. It span as it settled, finally coming to rest with the others from the spent magazine of the Walther P99. The gun barrel dropped as Andrew Carter surveyed his result with a professional eye, noting the grouping of clean shots. Even at that range, before the paper target had been

    Chapter 34

I met the former Prime Minister of Canada in a line at a Tim Horton's, which was amusing, he thought I was a conservative voter (This was JUST before he took over) and bought me a coffee. I wasn't about to say no to free coffee, my boss (Also not a conservative voter) was highly amused. Ahhhhhh Ottawa, so small, so very very small.

    Chapter 1

please forgive the inevitable hiccups in this text, as I recall... twenty years ago, when this was written there was a bug in my version of Microsoft Office that caused duplication to occur AFTER the editor did his sweep of the book and before it went to print. This caused entire sections of the book to be duplicated in random places throughout the text. It went to print like that... much to my dismay after the error was found and reported... things were slower in 2006. I will fix them as I catch them. BUT if you, the readers, can do me a favour and spot them and go "HEY look here!" i will fix those as well. Let's turn it into a game, if you guys find 100 examples in this book, I'll publish the next book in the series here EARLY.
  17. The Polians are an extinct race that has crawled into a hole to die. -Enarbrem Sul’Rikard “Amsus High Command Intelligence Documents’ Three Hundred Years Later Arcanis – Polian Alliance “We have to hurry, Master…” The young human man pulled on the sleeve of the worn robe, urging the ancient master onwards, “We have to make the last evacuation.” His deep purple eyes were insistent, leading the frail old being through the ruined halls of the great cathedra
  18. I fell into the memory of Peligia, And awoke lost in a dream of the Peligian Past, And found that I had dug myself a grave in the Peligian future - Doctor Thompson ‘Peligian Journal’ *** Three Hundred Years Prior London, England, Earth, Sol System It would have been beautiful: brilliant orange light that decorated the sky, washing over the crystal domes of the Imperial place. The fires of hundreds of relentless nuclear blasts hammering down from the Amsus fleet in
  19. The next book in the Falcon Banner Saga. A resurgent Empire at war faces the calculating man that brought it tumbling down in the first place. Enarbrem Sul'Rikard, the Chancellor. A genetically augmented mind with his sights set on the elusive power of the long extinct Peligian's and their all important mastery over time itself. Darien Taine stands in his way, but a revolution inside the fledgeling Empire threatens to beat them all before they can meet the true threat. And the One True Emperor, the reluctant God-king, Matthew Elias must rise to take his place or they are all doomed.

    Chapter 2

forgive me, I tend to fiddle with the writing until I have it quite what I want. I will try to point out when I have done so for those eagre readers who might want to sweep back and see what I have tweaked.

    Chapter 2

A slight edit, to add alliteration to help set the scene. It needed a bit of vibrancy to help set the tone for 2015
  22. Unfortunately Penguins What do you have against Penguins? I mean, I do, but then I'm widely regarded as a Polar Bear, so you know, those southern-folk down there...
  23. London, United Kingdom As Andrew and William stepped from the discreet Royal Household car, the crisp London air of a December evening, though cool, was quickly replaced by the soft glow and murmur of anticipation emanating from the grand archways of Buckingham Palace. The Great Gate, usually a symbol of stoic tradition, was alive that night, a constant stream of highly polished vehicles depositing figures in their finest. Footmen, immaculate in livery, moved with practiced efficiency,
  24. This was written this morning. It's new.
  25. What I might do is a rewrite of this book. It was the first book I ever had published and the first book with my name on it in print that I held in my hands. It is always going to be special to me.
