There, chapter should have CLEAR transitions, and time line markers reinforcing things. AND a short line that Giles is Gautier's son... and that they're both useless.

I am being old and grumpy, wasn't anything you said. Just feeling it today.

"Right, I've finally had time to examine this chapter in more detail. I moved a scene from the next chapter into this chapter (the Tomas/Val scene) and in so doing I broke my timeline. I'll correct it by rewriting the final scene to fix the chronology. As for the opening scene — it was originally written for after the Tomas/Gautier battle, and I see now that the transition could be clearer. I'll add some additional markers to help readers track when events are happening concurrently. Quick note on names: Ser Gautier and Giles are two different people. Giles is Ser Tomas's squire (established in his introduction). Gautier is Lothar's enforcer. I thought the distinction was clear from context, but I'll make sure it's sharper going forward. I am one person, writing at a high capacity. I do, from time to time, make errors I don't catch. I'm juggling a lawsuit with my Town Council, medical issues, and a decided lack of sleep. I'm doing my best. A little patience and grace would mean a lot right now."

Without a doubt, it is her biggest mistake yet. It has the unexpected consequence of ensuring Caleb's safety from her. Doctor Raines will get to the bottom of the medication, the over prescription, and Duclose malpractice. I have often found this the case, a fresh set of eyes peering into a dark closet uncovers all kinds of secrets.

I can, at times, get things a bit muddled. Once I publish tomorrows chapter, you guys might see where I went wrong. I did it before in the Holy Lance of Antioch, I forgot an entire chapter, and had to go back and republish it... it was about the introduction of Ashot, so he ended up getting introduced later than I intended in the story.... I think I did it again in Lord of the Pierced Dawn, I was fortunate there in that the chapter had zero impact on the story. (it was featuring Julian and Raymond of Toulouse... I got away with it because as I said, zero impact... but I do make mistakes from time to time)

I will look over the chapter again shortly, I will make some corrections, I have said this already and explained all of this above.

It's rather hard, tbh, to get this chapter quite right. Sometimes I stumble in the flow of it all. I'll admit that this chapter jumps a bit around the place. I could have done with another pass, shuffling things and adding some better transitions. It will all make more sense with tomorrow's chapter. Some of these events are happening at the same time as each other. For example Cas on the walls with Stephen, and Wylan out in the outer bailey and Atreus/Tomas.... these events are all happening concurrently. I am aware that the final scene causes the most confusion. Ideally I would have liked to move it to the next chapter as it would fit a bit better, but I was shuffeling and didn't quite clean the ARTEFACTS of old plot out of the scene correctly. I might take another pass at it in a bit, just to clean things up a little more. It does happen, I am alone, putting out a chapter of this story a day, I am operating without a beta reader at this moment, and no editor... Most of the time I get it right, but sometimes I stumble. I admit that.

I'm having a strange morning. i swear there is no Bailey's today, that's a Christmas thing... And an Easter Thing... and a 'cuase I feel like it thing... and... I am currently writing a short Merrickville story, while I try to sort out where I am stuck on the latest Charlie vs, and my story about "Accidental" Boy whores becoming highway men circa 1748... so back to basics while if figure it all out. Wonder if I can get away with a long lost McCormick... or another of the Higgins boys.

We know they have a daughter, an irrepressible imp that they are totally whipped by. She's 6, they have to throw her tea parties. Hakkon wears a pretty dress, calls himself Hakkon-belle. It's just something you do when your daughter DEMANDS unicorn princess tea parties. Bram HIDES on those days, he slept in one day on the tea party morning... and ended up with his hair in braided pigtails, and make-up... now he makes sure he is out of the house... manly fishing, while poor Hakkon sits there, his AXE three feet away in case anyone comes up the path and sees him. Someone has to protect the honour of Lady Fluffy Bottom, Madam Ginger, and Sister Abbigail the three cats, who look murderous as they are stuffed into bonnets, and forced to sit still for the defacto Princess of Norway.

They're knitting? They've adopted 3 cats, and have a nice cottage in Norway. They've settled down, fish, and sell their gourmet turnips... No one questions the fact that they've never married, and hold each other's hands and watch the sun set in their happy retirement.

There were a few mechanical hiccups with this chapter. It was written relatively early into the story writing process and the story evolved slightly. Originally the first half of this chapter was set before the Squire's Melee. But needs and shifting storyline required me to alter it. Sometimes I get this right, sometimes I miss a few artefacts. :: Shrugs:: Apologies if it seems confusing. You'll see why tomorrow.
