A few weeks back, I was invited to take on the challenge of writing a teen celebrity story! Now, I haven't written a celb story since...well...FOREVER! Hehehe! And it was only once! but I was given 3 celebrity boys to work with (Chandler Riggs, Asa butterfield, and Greyson Chance), a general theme, and a setting of being in the woods by a lake. And I had to create a story out of that. So I stepped up, and had a lot of fun putting it together! So if you guys haven't seen it yet, you can read it at http://www.caosa.tk/author.php cool? And the response was great! So expect a sequel soon! Have fun!

"My Only Escape 17" It felt soooo good to be back in dry clothes again. Not that I didn't enjoy being completely naked with Brody, but I'm sure it would have looked weird if I had been strutting around in the buff with his mom in the house over the last few hours. However, as she bundled up to take me home that night, I found myself getting all nervous again. I felt ashamed, and I don't think Brody quite remembered why. He had his shoes and jacket on when he came back into the room. I mad

Saturday - Today didn't go the way I thought it would. Or...well...then again, maybe it did, when I think about it. If I'm being totally honest with myself here...I probably should have expected this. But...you know... I didn't... I went to Robin's today. I was conflicted about it. Again. I hesitated for as long as I could, looking for reasons not to go. I kept thinking about Jimmy talking about how he just wanted to feel good for a while. And I was intrigued by the idea that AJ wouldn't be

This Week's Gay Short Film 3/13
Comicality replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
((Hugz)) Sweet! And you've GOTTA watch Degrassi! LOL! It's hilarious, but in that weird, cheesy, fun way though! -
I never had a clue he felt this way. Honestly. Jeydon Wale has always been so wacky and 'out there', it never occured to me that, as a normal teenager, he would be struggling with insecurities like this. I personally always thought Jeydon was gorgeous! His crazy videos were a part of the many influences that went into writing "Jesse-101", and I've been a fan. But I guess we don't see beauty in our own reflection sometimes. I hope he hangs in there. ((Hugz)) Jeydon!

"Damaged Goods" Review

I have to say that I TRULY enjoyed what I've read so far of this story! I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it before, and it crosses a few boundaries for me that I found intriguing. Some interesting artistic choices were made here. And I dig that. So let's get started! The story revolves, primarily, around characters Tibial and Chad. Two teens who are living in a slightly altered world where apparently the human population is dwindling due to serious mutations and female aversion to sex. (There may be more explanation of this in future chapters, but this is what I know from the first five.) So in this, the world of the Goddess, coupling rituals are held and young male 'training' is needed so they can learn about slow and sensual lovemaking. Making sex more appealing and comfortable to the women who will be their mates and produce more children. This training involves boys being taught the other side of sex by knowing what it's like to be penetrated. When they reach the appropriate age, an arrangement is made, the lesson begins. The plot is brilliant and well written, and as I said, I've never really read anything like it before. CassieQ's details really paint a picture for the reader and brings the characters to life. Naturally, as Chad is chosen to teach Tibial about arousal and pleasure, the nervous boy finds himself more attached to the act with Chad than he is when his female mate comes into the picture. There is a sense of real confusion in him, some feelings are scary, some angry, some full of longing. And I enjoyed seeing his conflicted emotions kind of swing from one side of the spectrum to the other. Chad, who is a bit older, had an entirely different experience when he went through his own coupling ritual. One that was detached and unpleasant. Which was a brilliant part of this story, because his experience with Tibial is much more loving than he expected. So during Chad's part of the story, he finds himself struggling with his feelings as well. And all of this is done with subtlety and grace. CassieQ doesn't really hit you over the head with it. It's all told within the confines of the story. It grows and warms up gradually as you read along. Not to mention that the coupling scenes are SEXY!!! Sweet, romantic, erotic...I definitely give full applause for that, both on the male and the female side of things! Now, I would really like to know more about this world of the Goddess and what goes into it. I feel like there are certain rules and ideas that are hinted at, but not really explained. And I'm really curious about those little details because I want to dive into this world and submerge myself in it completely. As I mentioned, I may have to read more to find out, but I'd love to see a little more detail there. I'd love to know more about some of the other characters like Robert, Sam, Lady Eva, Mia, etc. I'd love to know the state of the world it takes place in to find out how the coupling dances and mating rituals came to be. I think it could be done with just a few sentences here and there. And then I'm locked in for the ride. Another thing that I wanted to mention...even though I appreciate "Reach" for taking off and getting right into the meat of the story from the get-go, I was a little thrown off by not being introduced to the characters right away. I've often talked about 'setting the stage' when I write anything, and I find that a lot of readers connect more when they have a framework to use to create the look of the characters they're reading about. (If that makes sense) For example, the ages of the characters aren't even mentioned until halfway through the first chapter. And I didn't know that Chad was just slightly older than Tibial at first, or that he was a redhead. He seemed more like an older gentleman. A wise teacher type. Little things. So I started off the story with one image in my head of who they were, and later found out that I had it all wrong. So I would definitely add a few of those details earlier in the story to sort of define the setting and the people involved. It's always cool to leave some details to the reader's imagination, but I've found that when you later add those details in yourself...sometimes readers have to stop and re-evaluate the picture they had already created and grown attached to. So if they're thinking of Tibial as a short 13 year old blond boy with blue eyes for the first half of the chapter, and then he's later described as a tall 16 year old brunette with dark eyes...it kinda interrupts the flow. Just for a second, but it's an interruption nonetheless. And then the reader has to recreate and reconnect all over again. And one other thing, something that I've said in a few other reviews before... It can be challenging, I'd even go so far as to say that it's downright difficult at times...but I would try to avoid that 'C' word. Hehehe! I don't know, that always makes me stumble in certain stories. I think the coupling scenes are absolutely beautiful. Loving and insanely erotic. There's romance, and soft whispers, and kisses, and eye contact...then the word 'cock' pops up, and suddenly that bumps it up into that X-rated category. It's realistic, sure, but I feel it kind of puts a bump in the smooth beauty that you had going. I think it creates an inconsistency in the tone and the mood of the moment. I know that can be a pain in the butt, but using words like 'length' or 'shaft' or...I don't know. (Even now I can't think of anything) But I try to avoid it myself whenever possible. Unless I'm writing something that is meant to have that kind of purely sexual feel to it. During the coupling scenes though, I was totally invested in the emotion and the passion and the sense of love and trust, even more than the sex itself. So just something to think about. All in all, "Reach" is an excellent story! And I'll definitely come back to try to read more of it soon to see where it goes from here. If you guys are looking for something different and unique, really sexy, with an intriguing sci fi vibe included, definitely check it out! And let CassieQ know what you think! I loved it! https://www.gayauthors.org/story/cassieq/reach

Computer Issues MAY Be Fixed! :)
Comicality replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
Actually, it turns out that it was the programs I had working to fix the laptop that were making it WORSE! So...I had to go through a long process to get Snap.do off of my laptop, then I had to uninstall the Norton AntiVirus (Which I didn't know that I had to use another program to uninstall, I thought I could get rid of it like anything else), and THEN, someone informed me that if you have more than a few antivirus programs on your system, they fight with each other and make things worse) SO...once I straightened those three things out...the other stuff was easy to get rid of! So far so good! No problems! It's been two days plus...let's hope it keeps up. Ps- A few stories on the list before "Class", but it's coming soon! I didn't forget. -
This Week's Gay Short Film 3/13
Comicality replied to Comicality's topic in Comicality's Shack Clubhouse's Cafe
Hehehe! Agreed! You know what it reminds me of? An episode of Degrassi! LOL! Which..if you haven't seen it before...it's a Canadian teen soap opera that's basically been going since I was like...12 years old! But yeah, it has a certain sweetness to it. Made me smile! Glad you liked it! More next week! -
After WEEKS of torture and hours of trying to save my poor laptop from certain destruction...the horror may FINALLY be coming to an end! Right now, everything is not only working fine, but it's working BETTER than it was before! So the only issue now is...to see if it 'continues' to work this way! If so, then the nightmare is over! In the meanwhile, I never stopped writing! So look for more new stuff soon! I've been in the weeds since Valentine's day! Sux!

Friday - I wish that I could say that I woke up this morning, ready to face the world with a fresh attitude and a whole new passion for life. I wish that I could say that my little run-in with Brandon didn't hurt anymore. But why lie to a book? You know? Especially a book that I'm writing. I don't want to deceive myself. I want to be able to look back at this book, some day in the distant future, and have an exact account of what really happened. What I was feeling. What I was going through.

I want to start off by saying that I'm glad to be back to sharing my thoughts on some of the stories that I've read online! And while it can be difficult to do it on a weekly basis with everything else going on, I have a ton of fun trying! So I'll try to keep the Monday reviews coming on Monday nights when I can! Cool? Starting off this week, comes a new story from LemonFresh entitled "Damaged Goods". I honestly can't say enough that writing is more than just an art and a craft...it's a muscle. The more you work it out, the stronger it gets. And LemonFresh's practice really shows here. Even though it's only two chapters long, and we may need a few more to really get into the story as a whole, he's off to an excellent start. It's a story that grabs you in the first few paragraphs and builds momentum as the plot moves forward. Like I said, his practice has paid off. The characters really shine and I can't WAIT to get to them know them a little better. The story is about young Nick Whiller, who is starting high school for the first time in a new schooling district not far from home, but away from a vast majority of his other friends from before. Now, without telling too much, Nick had a bit of a 'freak out' incident (as he calls it) at his old school. One that ALL of the other students remember. And as we all know, gossip is the only thing in the universe that moves faster than the speed of light. So the story starts out with Nick being outcast from the life he had before, and rejected from having a chance at a fresh start. And things begin to travel on from there. A very clever technique used in the writing this time around was the way LemonFresh doesn't tell you the whole story at once. No long explanation in the beginning of the story to spill it all at your feet, and no interrupting the flow of the story in the middle by tossing in a lengthy flashback. Instead, the reader gets drawn in by having small bits and pieces of the story delivered to them without revealing the whole story. You're 'forced' to keep reading, which adds to the fun. These pieces of the back story are given through the introduction of supporting characters and their interactions with Nick during his first day at school. And just when you think you understand it all, the back story deepens. Especially with his friend Loan, and 'Mike'. And even then, there's more to know. So very clever. I liked that a lot as it creates a real momentum in the story telling. Also, by not knowing what's 'around the next corner', story wise, I actually felt a bit lost and awkward along with the main character. Not knowing what to respect or how people are going to react. It puts you in that same mindset. If that was intentional, then it's brilliant. And if not, then it's natural instinct genius. You win either way. I LOVE the 'lessons' included with each chapter. I thought that was cool. Wise words to live by, too. I, personally, would leave out the colons and semicolons out of the rest of the text, though. Not a big thing, but I think they give the 'lesson' statements their own little sparkle when they're only used for that part of the story. (It sounds weird, I know. Hehehe, but it was something I noticed. By only using the colons for the lesson posts, they stand out a bit more. A little thing, but something to think about.) I also love how Nick seems to either be dismissive or defensive about how the gossiping teenagers talk about him or stare at him with judgmental eyes. But when it comes to Drew...he really CARES what Drew thinks about him. I say that you should definitely play that up. It gives a subliminal nod about his true feelings without him saying, "He's so beautiful. I'm in love." The way you're doing it is much more intriguing. I dig that. It took some getting used to, seeing Nick's thoughts being put in italics. I was going to mention that at first, because I thought it could be told just with the prose alone and you'd get the same effect. However, but the time he had gotten to school and was going to the office, I learned to love it. Because it's almost like watching Nick go to war with his own troubled thoughts. Sometimes he seems sad, but he's trying to gather strength. Sometimes he seems angry, but he's trying to calm himself down. Sometimes he wants to stand tall, but a part of him just wants to disappear. So having the story, his thoughts, and his dialogue, all going on at once...I think it gives the story another dimension all it's own. So congrats, LemonFresh! I think you really found your voice with this story! There are still a few small errors that I would watch out for. Like I believe I've said before, it looks like you write a lot like I do. Almost as if you're speaking it out loud in your head. I have a lot of trouble with this sometimes, and even when I go back to edit I might miss it 2 or 3 times in a row. For example, in one place you wrote, "Every so often I found my mind wondering back to them." Now, if we had been having a verbal conversation, and I was listening to your voice, I would have understood completely and not paid any attention to it at all. Unfortunately, the written word isn't so forgiving. So I think the correct way is "-Ever- so often I found my mind -wandering- back to them." (I think. I might have to look up that first part) But that's where having a second pair of eyes looking over your stuff to help edit comes in handy. All in all, awesome story! Short, but it shows a lot of promise! And the more he writes, the better he gets! So check him out at The ChatShack (Under the section, "The Lemon Tree"), and give "Damaged Goods" a look! And be sure to drop him a line to let him know what you think! (So we can get that 3rd chapter jumping! Ahem! )

Whenever I feel down, I try to fix it. And you know what? this song helps! Hehehe! Song and video are both awesome! So if you've got anything going on in your life right now that's less than magnificent, take a moment, hear a catchy tune, and smile for me. K? enjoy...
