  1. You'd have to admit, there's something really fascinating about fairy tales. For most of us, they were the very first stories that we ever heard as children. Filled with magic and wonder and basic lessons to be learned by all. Where white knights can save you from danger, every villain gets his just due, and the main characters live happily ever after. (Of course, hehehe...I'm talking about the more MODERNIZED fairy tales, as opposed to the originals that were full of witches shoving children into ovens and wolves getting hacked to pieces by lumberjacks!) But there's an entirely different 'style' involved in writing a fairy tale, and I wanted to know if any of you have ever tried writing one? Or if you would consider it? It can be done...brand new fairy tales. Just a few movie fairy tales that come to mind would be "Penelope", or "Edward Scissorhands", "Big Phish"...I saw a Japanese one called "Re-Cycle" that was almost like 'Wizard Of Oz' mixed with a touch of HORROR! Very cool! But all in all...there's fiction, and there's science fiction, and then there's fantasy...but I think actual 'fairy tales' fall into their own category. What do you think? Let us know!
  2. Ha! Not by a long shot! Trust me!
  3. Every year, my best friends and I always spend about three weeks partying and having a good time because our birthdays are all clustered together. And since I spent most of my last birthday in the hospital trying to get well again, we definitely spiced things up this year. Felt REALLY good! The last party was Saturday, and it was an awesome close to a big celebration! Life...celebrate it every chance you get, you know? Anyway, as much fun as I had being away...I LOVE being back! Hehehe! It's like being 'home' again, you know? Anyway, I'm having another email marathon on Wednesday this week! So I hope to talk to everybody I missed last week. AND...I really want to thank everybody for the birthday wishes!!!!! I tried sooo hard to find the link again so I could say than you beforenow, but it was...I dunno...I got lost on GA somewhere and couldn't find it again! Arrrgh! But I truly TRULY appreciate it! I LOVE you all! gotta run! But I'll be back soon! In fact, I have a weekly topic for tomorrow! And super thanks to Agincourt for the reviews too! :: Smooches :: Love you lots, dude!!!
  4. This is something that I like to ask of everyone reading and posting every now and then. Mostly because it really interests me. And because it's the whole reason that I started writing in the first place. I can remember a time when Nifty and other story sites just weren't giving me the kind of emotionally stimulating stories that I was looking for. I mean, they were really SCARCE! If you look back in the Nifty archive around 1998, you'll see what I mean. Were they hot? Sure, some of them were. But they didn't contain the kind of emotion and heart that I needed to feel...'satisfied' after reading them. You know? NOT to disrespect any of the authors of that time! I'm sure they were loved and followed by many people that were looking for exactly what it was they provided. But I remember being frustrated by looking for something that fit me and my needs *specifically*. There was, in my opinion, a huge gap in the whole 'profession' that wasn't speaking to me directly. And when I found authors like Jaxsper Finn, Dean Lidster, and others...I realized that something more was possible. Somebody understood. And that absence gave me the inspiration to do something on my own. You know? So...let us know, right here and now, what you personally think is 'missing' in the gay teen writing genre? What is it that you feel needs to be said? I mean, with so many stories, some are bound to fall into the inescapable pit of cliches and 'expected' storylines. But do they tell YOUR story? Maybe you need a story about 'obviously gay' boys, maybe you need more angst, less angst, maybe you like your characters older, maybe younger, maybe you want more rural stories, maybe you feel a lack of decent adult/youth stories, maybe you want an emo or goth story with piercings and and make up and the whole thing...who knows? Whatever you think is 'missing', whatever hole there is that you think needs to be filled with these stories (pun intended, hehehe!) let us know!
  5. I have spent the last THREE WEEKS partying my ass off! Hehehe! As some of you know, some of my best friends and I were born within days of each other, so Late April and Early May is always a big celebration where we just go wild an spend as much time together as possible! (SUPE THAKS for all of the birthday greetings that I got, here on GA and in my emails, and on the Shack Forum!!! Youguys are the best!) BUT...the party doesn't last forever. In fact, the LAST one is this weekend! And I am back at 'work' 100% with new stuff! I've had a BUNCH OF Stuff on hold until a few things were finished, and I'm sooooo excited to see how things go over. Needless to say....if you guys get what I have planned, and you STILL aren't satisfied, then I'll retire my keyboard and give up! LOL! There's no WAY you can complain after next weekend! No WAY! I refuse to believe that there could be any further 'problems' of that nature! If you're still not satisfied, then you're just a BRAT! : Snickers :: that's all there is to it. So...yeah. ANYWAY....I am making this a MAJOR email marathon day today! I always answer ALL of my emails personally, and I take the time to address each and every single one of you separately. So I know that I've been behind, but I am going to sit at this keyboard and answer as MANY emails as HUMANLY possible today!!! K? I'm happy to announe that I have JST officially passed the 1000 email mark in terms of how many I've sent out in the last two months! That's one THOUSAND!!!! And I'm working on doing MANY more before I got to sleep tonight! So if you sent me a sweet email, and you put your heart into it, but were wondering why I never answered back, i's only because I never had a chance to. At least not until today. K? I will try to get through as MANY as I can....but if the day ends and I STILL haven't answered you, I'll try again this weekend. I really do love you all! And I wanna talk to you! So give me a chance, and I'll get back to you soon! ALSO....I'm still writing stories on TOP of it! And they'll be unleashed soon! So look for them next weekend as well! Cool? Take care, and I hope to talk to you all today!
  6. Wow! Awwww...thank you guys...soooooo much! ::Giddy And Strange Now:: LO! I love you all sooo much! Thanks! You've just made it that much better!
  7. Maybe we should have a limit? Like five chapters or something? I don't know...we don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't read a longer story all the way to the end, you know?
  8. A sexual encounter??? With WHO? DETAILS!!! Hehehe! GO or it, man! ::Giggles:: Heehe was it with Elijah Wood? He's soooo cute! LOL! I got to meet him once...his eyes really ARE that blue! Mmmmmm!
  9. Ok, so should we get a list together? And what day would you guys wanna do it? Maybe once a week? Like Thursdays or something? I'd definitely be down for the 'exclusive' content idea too! Although I have to work on my Summer Anthology story first! I need to get back to readingother stories on a regular basis. It's something I wanna make time for.
  10. Agin made a good point in his "Never Again" post! I was thinking that maybe we could get some story assignments to read each week, and discuss what we like and don't like about them and how they might improve. We could have people submit some of their favorite stories (I'm sure everybody is reading something different), and if you're a writer...submit one of your own! Why not? You know? Hell, it might even make me read faster. I put everything off til the last minutes! Ugh! But I'd love to talk it over with you guys. What do you think? Maybe every Friday we discuss a new one?
  11. ((Hugz)) Thanks Ag! Wow...you know what, I seriously have to go and re-read that story myelf, now that you mention it. It has been a long time. Hehehe, I toss stories aside like a footbll before I get tackled for the chance to start on another one sometimes! I DO remember what I was going through when I wrote it though. Rought times. I doubt that particular boy ever thought about me again, which sucks because I really cared for him something awful. But you know...not meant to be. Life goes on. If you liked this one, you might like "Save Or Sacrifice", Ag! (That one's also 'finished'!) I was ACHING with heartbreak when I wrote that one! LOL! But the story, I think, came out pretty close to how I wanted it to. So I'm sorta 'proud' of that one. ::Ego Moment:: Ps- I'd love to discuss more stories on this board! Sounds great! Not just MINE all the time, of course! Hehehe! But if you guys have any suggestions...let us know! From GA, Nifty, AwesomeDude, The Fort, The Chat Shack, wherever!
  12. Hehehehe, nothing! I NEVER get to see one! And if anybody saw mine, they didn't say anything. Athough there WAS one time that I was on the subway with it on, and I got invited to a party by a young guy (young like..18/19) who was with a bunch of his friends. I didn't know him at all. Didn't even have a conversation. He just asked a few seconds before he got off the train. One of those things I'll prolly regret the rest of my days! LOL! But that's a TRUE story! One that I eventually made 'fictional' with "We Are Many". So that's where that idea came from. The best stories are just reality with a personal twist, I always say. ::Kicking self for not going:: Stupid. If only life was easy to go back and re-edit. Could have had a happy ending. ::Winks::
  13. Hehehe...it's a nice day out...I might just wear my "C" too. Just to see what happens. Never know. Maybe I'll run into a creature of the night myself. ::Wicked Grin::
  14. Thanks sooo much, dude! Hehehe, I LOVE ya for it! And like I said in an email to ya....there might be a sequel before the end of the year! So I hope you'll like those too!!! Ps- I *LOVE* Elijah Wood!!! I met him in person once...his eyes really ARE that blue! My GOD! SEXY!!!! Sighhhh...............
  15. http://www.voy.com/17262/ Brand new vampire spinoff, "GFD: He's My Music Now", and the new chapter of "Gone From Daylight: Blood Ties" went up last night! So check it out, and let me know what you think!
  16. Hehehe, good detective work, sir! But...you actually found all seven! As "Boy #6" was originally posted in TWO parts, instead of one!
  17. http://www.voy.com/17262 A new vampire spin off, "GFD: He's My Music Now", and the newest chapter of "Gone From Daylight: Blood Ties" is now up in the Comicality Library! You WON'T wanna miss either one of them!
  18. Wow...some EXCELLENT points made, dude! Seriously! You've definitely given me more to think about. ::Nods::
  19. Parts one and two of this short 'spinoff' story is now available in the Comicality Library! ( http://www.voy.com/17262/ ) So check it out! Also be sure to read "GFD: Archaic Envy" and "GFD: Ransom" by Kiwi and Prince! You don't wanna miss 'em!
  20. Another Mechanics 101question today. I've been wondering about this for some time. Because my spellcheck always catches this word, and maybe it just needs updating, but I would think that it was a valid part of the English language by now. So...simply put... Is 'OUTED' a word? The past tense of being 'out' (as in the closet). Or...maybe a verb? An action. "He 'outed' him to the whole school!" Am I crazy, or is that just a 'glitch in the Matrix' as far as my spellcheck is concerned? Anybody know for sure?
  21. Whenever an author writes a brand new story, they get a chance to truly create their own little world. One whre they control the characters, the situations, and the outcome....happy, or otherwise. But if this is an everyday story taking place in the real world, it is undoubtedly limited by 'realistic' people and events. That pretty much goes without saying. You can stretch things a LITTLE bit, but only so far before your audience goes, "Hey WAIT a minute....!" Hehehe! However, an author writing science fiction, horror, orto a further extent, 'fantasy'...those boundaries can be as limitless as the imagination can take you. You ARE making it all up, aren't you? Starting anew. Tearing down the walls of reality and building them upagain from scratch? This weeks question is...does an author have 'total' freedom to whatever they want to do when writing sci-fi and fantasy? Or is it even HARDER...knowing that you've got to set up the rules and adhere to them even closer than ever before? And how do you set up those rules without being boring? You'd have to explain an entirely different world, with it's own history and possible future. Just think of how long it took Tolkien to do it in the "Lord Of The Rings" books! And yet, not as long or detailed with the "Harry Potter" books. What are yurthoughts on this? How much 'freedom' does fantasy give you? Let us know!
  22. Hehehe, yeah, I know. I'm a total slacker. LOL! Maybe by the time Vol 3 is ready, I will have earned my stripes!
  23. Hehehe...Ricky! ::Giggles:: ((Super teddy bear hugs)) Thank you! you're the sweetest guy ever! And Kiwi....hehehe, you know how I feel about you, cutie! ::Winks::
  24. Howdy everybody! I hope you're all feeling great this weekend! Sunshine and all! Believe it or not, I had completely forgotten that this was Easter weekend! ::Smax Forehead:: I have been so backwards this week with stuff, that I didn't realize the holiday until I saw the kids out of school on Friday. I'm odd. Hehehe! Anyway, I had some fun, I worked, I BBQ'd, I worked, I even did the church thing this year...and then I worked. But all in all a good holiday! Alright, first things first... I am having some severe problems with the mailing list, and it doesn't look like this problem can be fixed. The frustrations can be conveniently 'rearranged' from time to time, replacing one 'ARGHH' issue with another one equally aggravating...but it doesn't look like it can be repaired. Hehehe! But I TRULY want to give Jim and ACFan thanks for working sooo hard to try and correct things. They realy did. Some things just aren't meant to be, I guess. SO...for now, I'll be putting *ALL* of my story announcements right here on the "Comicality Announcement" page! ( https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/forum/176-comicality-announcements/ ) You can just go to my homepage at any time, and see all of the brand new updates right there in the sidebar on the left! I'll keep you guys up to date on everything going on personally. But don't go cancelling your mailing list spots just yet! Because if I find something else, I can just transfer all of your email addresses from one list to another (IF that becomes neccessary)! There's nearly 600 of you,so I don't wanna have you all sign up all over again. So I'm working on it to see what I can do. And then we can hurry back to business as usual. Cool? That said, April marks the beginning of the brand new "30 Days Of Night 2" updates!!! Which means vampire stories GALORE are waiting for you to gobble up one by one! I've been working night after night to explore the "GFD" saga from many different angles, and tried really hard to come up with something new, something different, and yet still undeniably "GFD"!!! So I hope you enjoy them as they hit the site, one after the other, and let me know what you think! And look for "Gone From Daylight: Blood Ties" to begin again on April 11th! That's just *ONE* itty bitty week away from today! Hehehe! Also, keep an eye on the "Blood Bank Forum" ( http://www.voy.com/208535/ ) for additional comments, extras, etc! AND...starting Thursday, the "GFD: Treausre Hunt" trivia is moving to the Comicality Library ( http://www.voy.com/17262/ ) for the month of April! Take a chance and play! You never know when a special little 'prize' might be attached for getting the answers right! The bloodsucking fun begins tonight with the post of "GFD: Circle Nocturnus" ( http://www.voy.com/17262/14508.html ) on the Comicality Library! So check it out, and I'll talk to you soon! (Look for part two on Tuesday!) Remember to look at the "Comicality Announcement" ( https://www.gayauthors.org/forums/forum/176-comicality-announcements/ ) page for current updates until thi problem gets resolved, and I'll do everything that I can to stay in communication with you all!
