Draco's pale, milky skin was so soft that as Harry lightly ran his hand down the leg he wondered if his lover was some form of ephemeral creature that would disappear. Still asleep, Draco let out a soft sigh and curled up into Harry's embrace. Harry let out his own sigh as his lover shifted in his arms, and the soft, sensual contact woke up Harry's desire once more. Draco had been asleep when had Harry returned the night before, but that didn't mean he didn't wake up a few hours later, and his

The days that followed what was now called the Battle of Hearly Manor were busy ones for Harry. Classes were cancelled until the following Monday and most of the students were given passes to Hogsmeade. Families had come pouring in, overflowing Hogwart's guest quarters and every free room in Hogsmeade, so tents were set up near the Quidditch pitch. The house elves were working so hard on keeping food and drink flowing that they were almost to the point of breaking down. Both Draco and Harry had

VICTORY? "Get UP!" The voice was exasperated, and Neville jumped a little as he came awake. He blinked for a moment and then focused his eyes on Blaise Zabini. "Neville, we've already had six hours of sleep, take a bath, get dressed in the robes waiting on the armchair and get your ass downstairs, got it? The Slytherin was practically hissing. Neville nodded, heading into the bathing chamber. The water was still there, unused, and a quick poke of his finger revealed the house elf had used a warming char

Blackness, Cold, Pain These sensations floated through his mind, coming in waves. The pain began to increase, and the cold soaked through him. It was all oddly familiar and he struggled to remember why, and who he was. Suddenly the memories rushed back to him…CEDRIC! But Cedric was dead, as was Sirius. Then a scream flowed through his memory and he remembered seeing the face of Cho as she pointed her wand at him. Slowly, he opened his eyes only to see Cho's face yet again, this time inches fro

As winter turned into spring, Harry felt as if his life was both falling apart and coming together. What hurt the most was his shattered friendship with Ron. His first and best friend no longer wanted anything to do with him. The few times they talked, nothing but insults spewed out of the redhead's mouth. His insults were so hurtful, so painful, that Harry had taken to referring to him by Draco's old insult, Weasel. Draco had not spoken to him for a whole day when he heard Harry call Ron that.

Draco's steady pull on his arm was the only reason he was moving down the hallway. His stomach felt like it was a pit of molten lava, his heart fluttered in his chest, and his feet were encased in lead. Still, that steady pressure on his arm steered him away from his quarters. When he saw Hermione waiting for him just to the side of the doors to the Great Hall, he started to turn back, but Draco wouldn't let him. Hermione saw them and met them a few feet before the hallway. "Harry." Hermione sa

Draco had given up after Harry joined Crabbe in the argument. Harry chuckled softly as Draco through his hands in the air and sat on the couch across from him, joining into some discussion that was going between Millicent, Pansy, Blaise and four seventh year Slytherins. "So, Harry." Crabbe continued their discussion. "What do you think would happen if we added just a touch of sage to this potion?" "Hmmm" Harry murmured as he thought about the question. "Well if added a smidge of bat guano afte

Breakfast was quite a noisy affair that next morning. People were shouting about everything from the swords Harry and Draco had worn the night before, to what the new classes would be. Shacklebolt Kingsley sat at the high table and was the subject of much conversation himself. Neither Harry nor Draco showed until quite late into the meal. Draco had not liked the way their expensive designer robes had bunched up with the sword belts, so he had spent an hour with tailoring spells until he figured

The rocking motion of the Hogwarts Express lulled Harry into a state just shy of sleep. He was sitting in a car with Ron, Hermione, and Draco, and had long since tuned out the debate going on between Draco and Ron. Hermione was reading the paper and he had given up looking at the picture of Draco and he visiting the opening of the newest "Potter School for Personal Defense." That was not how he had wanted to spend the last day of his holiday with Draco, but what he wanted didn't count when it ca

When Dumbledore said trouble, he meant trouble. The last couple of months had been relatively quiet, as far as Voldemort and his death eaters were concerned. As Harry and Draco sat in the living room of Black Manor, drinking some tea, with Professor Snape hovering behind them, they learned that the period of calm was over. Forty dead muggles and two dead wizards in Lower Brighton. An entire wizard family, and their muggle relatives were dead outside Manchester. Twenty-six dead muggles and three

“I told you to empty yourself of emotion!” Snape’s voice was sharp. “Yeah? Well, I’m finding that hard at the moment.” Harry snarled “Then you will find yourself easy prey for the Dark Lord!” said Snape savagely. “Fools who wear their hearts proudly on their sleeves, who cannot control their emotions, who wallow in sad memories and allow themselves to be provoked this easily – weak people, in other words – they stand no chance against his powers! He will penetrate your mind with absurd ease, P

Harry was pacing now. Back and forth in his room, waiting for word to reach him that Draco had been hurt. Then he could rush to the infirmary and be at Draco’s side where he belonged. Ron had been gone for twenty minutes and still no one had come to his room. When he began to think about just heading down there on his own, there was a knock at his portrait. He didn’t waste a moment getting over there and opening it either. “Good evening Professor.” Harry mumbled out in surprise as McGonaga

Breakfast was over far too fast, and took far too long for Harry Potter. Despite the pleasant discovery of Crabbe (and Goyle), the two women who spent the entire meal arguing with Draco made the consumption of any food impossible. No wonder Draco was skinnier. He never got to eat much when they were around. Leaving the hall, he was able to meet up with Ron at least. Hermione actually joined Draco and a couple of Slytherins on their way to Arithmancy. Ron just stared after her with a lost look a

“This is all your fault, Potter.” Draco snapped at him once they were back in the room. “Don’t blame this on me, Malfoy!” Harry snapped right back as he began to pull the robes off. “Be careful with that, we have images to uphold here!” Draco snapped irritably as he carefully laid Harry’s robes on the bed. A small corner of Harry’s brain noted that Dobby had already made the bed for them. “Will you just hurry!” Harry snapped back. He really was getting good at this whole asshole thing. “Do y

Dreams of the Sorting Hat, pawns on the chessboard, and of Sirius falling into the Veil receded to the background as Harry woke. His heart was thumping as he laid there in the warm bed and processed the dreams of the night before. His training with Snape, while incomplete had brought some benefits and he knew that these dreams had all come from within him. Of course there was another dream that he’d had earlier that he was trying to forget as well. Movement next to him made him notice the guy i

“Potter,” Malfoy said later the next day, “I thought you wanted me to live here so I’d like muggles? These relatives of yours are starting to make me miss my Father and his Cruciatus.” “Sometimes, Malfoy, I agree with you.” Harry said with a chuckle. Uncle Vernon still had not unlocked the door to their room and as it was now approaching lunch time they were both hungry. “Then why am I here?” Malfoy asked. “Because it’s better than Azkaban?” Harry opined. “Barely.” Malfoy sneered. “I don’t s

“Order!” The voice of Madame Umbridge rang out through the courtroom. Harry had groaned when he saw that the woman was in charge of the Wizengamot. She had not gotten any nicer since her escape from Hogwarts in disgrace and not even the amount of sucking up Malfoy had done while she was there was likely to help him. The pinched look on her face promised that this was not going to be a fun event for the accused. The courtroom was packed with people. Harry had claimed a seat from an older wizard

It was three weeks into the summer holidays, and Harry Potter couldn’t wait for it to end. The backyard of the Dursley’s home at Number 4, Privet Drive felt just the same as being outside. Here he could escape from the glaring eyes of his relatives for a few short minutes, escape from the confines of Dudley’s second room and let do something besides think. Even though working in the muggle garden of his Aunt wasn’t anything like Herbology with Professor Sprout, it was better than nothing. Wi

In the aftermath of war and betrayal, Harry Potter makes an unexpected choice: he takes Draco Malfoy under his protection instead of letting him be destroyed by the system around them. What begins as forced proximity and old rivalry slowly changes into trust, romance, and a deeper fight for the future as danger closes in around Hogwarts and the wizarding world.

What's really amusing is that my father actually auditioned for the belly-button church back in 1979. I am SO glad he didn't get the gig. Yes, I am referring to the hiring process of a new preacher in show business terms.

Some of the conversation was loosely based on a conversation I had with someone while we lay together in my bed. At the time I was 14 and he was 18 - a senior and getting ready to leave the small town forever. Meanwhile I was from a big-city and would willingly have lived a lifetime as a lie to remain in that town (now I know that would have been a mistake, but at 14 I thought it was heaven). So, I don't think they are too young. Mike though, he wanted to see the world...(and before someone asks, he died in jail after being sentenced to life in prison for murder about two years after that conversation).

It's an older one - I think I wrote it back in 2005/2006 time frame.

This was a one-shot short story. I never intended it to be more than what it is now. Thanks for the kind words!
