    Chapter 16

Oh, man, poor Nathan! Lester needs to die a horrible death--hopefully Guy and the others will be here soon to dole out the punishment. Great chapter as always!

    Chapter 11

I know these two chapters are hard....

    Chapter 11

Yes, I think Barry is just as bad as Carl and William because he does nothing.
  6. Chapter 11 By the time Thursday rolled around, Avery was cautiously grateful for his father's good humor. His father hadn't hit him in the last few days and had only used him once this weekend and was even rather gentle--one of the times he'd called him his mother name again--so his bruises and welts had finally started to fade. Apparently, this visit with Mr. Degasio was lifting his father's spirits greatly. Unfortunately, his dad never said how long they'd be staying exactly, only a vagu

    Chapter 10

Yep, it's a slow knock down. It's like Matt's chipping away with a chisel against a wall of cinderblocks. He really needs a sledgehammer, but then that might scare Avery off...Glad you are enjoying the story. Thanks for reviewing.

    Chapter 10

Yes, it is a bit bittersweet in that sense. Avery feels so much hope with Matt right now, and we know his father's going crush it. Avery's definitely going to need Matt to help him heal if/when he finally escapes his father. Thanks so much for the review.

    Chapter 10

Exactly, Matt does sense Avery's skittishness, he just doesn't know yet what's caused it, and he's being very slow and careful not scare Avery off. And you're right, he's going to need Matt to help him get through this to move on...Thanks for the review!

    Chapter 10

Yep, it's the calm before the storm right now. At least, Avery got a little closer to Matt and they enjoyed a sweet moment, gives Avery something to hang on as he faces degasio. thanks for reviewing!

    Chapter 10

Awww, thank you so much! I'll offer everyone some of my stacks of tissues--got three boxes on the table waiting...

    Chapter 10

Hehe, that's an idea. This was the calm before the storm as everyone says, so yes, it's going to get pretty bad--a new low for Avery, since he's only had to face his father's abuse. I promise it won't last much longer!

    Chapter 10

thanks! I think Matt was careful and cautious enough with Avery for him to accept that Matt was going to hurt him, and that's what Avery needs right now, someone he might be able to trust with all his secrets eventually.

    Chapter 10

Thank you! I think their first kiss was important as it shows that Avery is willing to start opening up to Matt, just unfortunately not before the trip to the client's house...

    Chapter 9

Yep, no tissues this chapter! Nor the next, but keep them handy...

    Chapter 9

I think everyone will like the next chapter, since it does deal with Matt and Avery and their developing relationship....

    Chapter 9

    Well....

    Chapter 9

    Very true....

    Chapter 8

I like Erin and I think she's good for Avery to see as such a carefree person. Seeing Matt and Erin together allows him to see what a real family should be like.
  20. Chapter 10 Thx 4 coming with us again. C U soon. Avery read the text from Matt again after his father had gone to bed. His father had actually seemed in a decent mood and had accepted Avery's bland recalling of the time at the movies and having lunch. His father's nearly indifferent interest in his foray out with Matt and Erin almost had Avery feeling a little wary--like the calm before the storm. His father hadn't even said anything when he saw that Avery had removed the leather arm bra
  21. Chapter 9 Avery was so excited for Matt's arrival on Saturday afternoon that he barely registered any of the pain from his father's "reminder to behave". It didn't matter, he'd lived through it long enough that he could mask and ignore the discomfort. When Matt arrived at the door around noon, Avery's father greeted him with a grin, casting a glance at the car where Erin waited. "Hello, Mr. Andrews." "Hi, Mr. Greene. And please, call me Matt. I'm just a regular guy now," Matt returned

    Chapter 8

Yes, he will definitely need plenty of therapy to deal with it. There is no instant fix here, no instant HEA. Even with Matt, he'd be slow to accept any sexual relations I would think. Thanks for reviewing and commenting!

    Chapter 8

I think the fact that it can (and does) happen is what makes this story so much harder to read. Yeah, dad figures oatmeal and beans are filling enough (protein and carbs) and cheap enough to keep Avery going. At least, Avery can actually get a meal at school--his father did put a certain amount on his lunch account so no one wonders why Avery doesn't eat. Avery just has to be careful not to use up all the money on it too fast--since dear old dad wouldn't add more. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't tell you if/when he gets out

    Chapter 8

Yeah, the pimping him out to Delgasio isn't something Avery figured on yet--so yeah, he doesn't realize it can actually get worse...unfortunately. I like the little devil icon, hehe!

So very true! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
