Hmm, I'll definitely work on that in the rewrite. Thank you so much for your insight. It's helped a lot with rethinking the character mindsets and backgrounds.

You're welcome. Thank you so much for reading and commenting on it!

Thank you very much for reading and commenting! It was so nice hearing from you each chapter.

Thank you so much for reading. I really have enjoyed and taken to heart all of your wonderful constructive comments. And I've have others ask about a second book as well, so I will have to think about fleshing that out.

So glad you are enjoying it. I hope it engages you enough that you'll want to read more!

Chapter 17 The next morning, Kayden was restless and cranky when Damien tried to keep him in the bed to rest. The boy had rolled away from him in a pout and was flicking his sleek black tail at him. Damien had to laugh at the image and was glad that Kayden was feeling well enough to show attitude. He patted the boy's hip. "Come on, get up and get dressed then. It's warm enough to enjoy breakfast on the balcony." Kayden's face lit up, and he started to move quickly out of the bed. A sligh

Damien stormed in through the kitchen, kicking the door angrily in his wake. He heard the gasps of horror at the sight of the bleeding boy in his arms. Damien did his best not to jostle him any more than necessary. Damien was holding the boy carefully, one arm wrapped around the highest part of his shoulders almost to his neck, the other looped under his thin legs. The boy's left arm and tail were hanging limply, drooping toward the floor. His right hand was clutched in Damien's shirt, his

The next day, Kayden continued to sulk. Kayden still was trying to insist that it was pointless to look for the mysterious man who'd he'd supposedly mistaken for Roman. Damien couldn't figure out why the boy was so adamant to accuse Roman. Kayden had been so disoriented when Harrison carried him in, he easily could have been mistaken. Unless, Damien pondered, Kayden was truly trying to make Damien upset with Roman, to drive a wedge between the brothers. Maybe it was like Roman said an

Yes, as I replied to Cannd, I can see where I would probably want to add more to Damien and Kayden's relationship, especially here at Ch. 14. I'd probably add in more of Damien's background and neko history and all that kind of stuff earlier, but I'll have to work on fleshing that out. You all have been so great with all the comments that I think I can make it even better in a rewrite! Thank you!
-
Yes, he will. I just hope it's enough to satisfy everyone, hehe. I know everyone is looking to pretty much crucify Roman atm!

Again, wow, thank you for so much feedback. And yes, while I may not get to adding more in now, I can definitely see where more of that would be good. (So now I hope everyone isn't disappointed as we are closing on the end of what I have!) And No, they have not had sex (yet), I was implying that they were basically cuddling, kissing, exploring--basically more of the same from ch. 10. So, this is definitely where I would need to explore adding in more of the Damien/Kayden interludes. I could see ch. 14 being expanded into a few more chapters in a rewrite...

Thank you so much. And I agree. I actually prefer to see stories listed as complete before I read them as well. And I've also read too many stories (on other sites) where I really got into it and then it was just dropped. That said, I wouldn't feel comfortable posting unless it was pretty much done. And so I've been posting the chapters pretty quickly (since, by site rules, I should only post no more than once every 8 hours). I've really enjoyed the comments from this site because they are so much more insightful and get me thinking about how I can make the story better. While I might not change it right now, I will probably go back (after I let the story settle in my mind a bit more) and incorporate many of the suggestions--which would make it much longer, of course! And thank you again for the complement on my writing, that is so kind of you to say!

Thank you! I almost didn't post it, because I was messing up the posting process! But thankfully admin Cia worked with me and straightened me out.

Thank you! You enjoy ch. 13 & 14!

Well, I think it was more that Damien was too stunned to go right after Kayden. He would have gone eventually, but was just in shock. And you have a very good point about Damien's background and the 'what happens years from now'--I really need to think about how to incorporate that in a rewrite. That's why I love this site so much, you guys are really making me think about all the stuff I could add to the story!

Wow, such detailed reviews and comments! Where to start? First, Kayden's not going to tell about the rape (but that doesn't mean Damien doesn't find out). And it's not that a Marquis can't be punished by a duke, but because of Roman being such a high ranking noble, it would have to be more than just the word of a slave--basically a lot more evidence. And, I think I need to be more clear about the bruise on his neck when I edit: Remember Kayden is very small and tends to keep his head down, so between his hair and collar, his neck is pretty hidden from Damien who is much taller. Ysmenia noticed because she is more Kayden's height. And it has been a couple days while Kayden was recovering. Thanks so much for taking the time to write such detailed reviews!

Kayden sat idly on the window sill in Damien's office, his tail flicking lazily. Several days had passed since his master had said he loved him, and Kayden had never felt so content--although he still hated the boots and shoes his master had made him wear outside the last time they walked. His master was still a little cautious when they curled up in the bed together, always making sure that Kayden was secure. Kayden smiled at the thought of the last few nights in his master's arms, reve

Kayden was glaring. Damien was trying not to laugh. The cobbler had left an hour ago, and Damien had barely stopped laughing before the tailor arrived. The shoemaker had brought a trunk-full of the smaller shoes that he had in his store ready-made. The older man and his apprentice had quickly become frustrated with the neko stomping around in the various shoes he'd tried on. While Kayden never said anything, his displeasure at having to put shoes on at all was clearly noted in the f

Damien and Kayden fell into a routine over the next few days. At night, they would sit on the couch and Damien would read his book while Kayden curled up next to him, watching the fire. Then Damien had offered the boy to share his bed, for warmth of course. But they both knew they desired the other's body pressed up against them. Damien had taken to wearing lounge pants to bed, so he didn't scare the poor boy off. When Damien would feel the boy snuggle up next to him in his sleep, Damien fe

Thank you so much for your review! Roman does cause a lot more havoc....

The next couple of days, Harrison noticed a sullenness to his brother's temperament. Damien had been in an almost foul mood as soon as he'd come back from the legislative meeting he'd been at earlier in the day. But Damien had seemed almost hesitant and nervous around Kayden. He wondered what had happened between the two to make Damien so tense around the neko now, especially after they had been so relaxed around each other a couple days ago. It wasn't like the usually stoic man to be s

hmm, I will definitely have to go back and look at that. I think the slave master, Arnett does come across as a little more familiar with the three lords, probably because I see him as having been there a long time, and letting himself get too casual. And John (damien's personal servant) does as well, I guess. Definitely have to re-look at that Thanks for the advice.
