    Chapter 12

Chapter 12 Jason smiled as Lyle leaned into his shoulder. He cast his gaze at the slightly taller man. "So, you busy this weekend?" Jason finally managed to ask. Lyle's easy smile widened. "What did you have in mind?" "Well, I thought maybe I could ask Brad for a night off." "And?" Lyle quirked his eyebrow mischievously. Jason groaned that the man was making him squirm. It'd been so long since he'd asked someone out, and he was afraid the man would turn him down. "Lyle..." Lyle

    Chapter 11

Things are definitely going to be picking up from here...well, maybe not for Devyn, but for the story plot anyway.

    Chapter 11

I'm glad you are enjoying it. I do actually post a couple chapters ahead here because the reviewers are so awesome and sometimes I modify a chapter slightly. AFF also has the old version of the Tears of the Neko, whereas the new version is posted here (if that story interests you too).
  6. I enjoy reading on my tablet, so therefore I prefer ebooks. I buy tons from Amazon. I'm listed as Avid Reader, there so you can actually look at books I've rated if you want ideas. if you have genre you prefer, we could offer more specific ideas: like cop, fbi, firemen, werewolves/shifter, highschool drama, scifi, slave, contemporary, historical, etc....

    Chapter 11

Chapter 11 The next few days flowed by much more smoothly than the first four days had. While Devyn certainly wasn't warm and cheerful, he hadn't been outright hostile either. Jason and Devyn had settled into a tentative truce. Jason was happy to just drive the kid to and from his tutors and sit under the shade tree while the kid played with his horse--the view from there was really nice. He overlooked the moments when both Devyn and Michael seemed to disappear inside the barn for a while

    Chapter 10

Yep, Jason did, but Devyn probably didn't pay much attention at the time since he was more worried about being outed to Brad. Hope you enjoy the next chapter...

    Chapter 10

Chapter 10 "Devyn!" Michael yelled as he raced through the wooded trail after the blond. It seemed to take forever before he realized he was gaining on the other teen. The smaller boy was slowing down, and Michael upped his pace to catch up before Devyn realized he was gaining. "Dev! Stop!" Michael yelled again. He was shocked when Devyn just seemed to drop, falling to his hands and knees. Michael was moving so fast, he almost fell over the heaving figure bent over on the ground. He s

    Chapter 9

Thanks! I'm so glad it came across okay. It will take Jason a couple more chapters to totally come around, but, yeah, he's finally starting to take the blinders off.

That was actually the hard part, revealing just a bit, but not too much!

    Chapter 9

Chapter 9 Jason stood tensely at the edge of the barn, listening for a minute before surreptitiously watching the bigger teen crowd his charge against the stall at the end of the stable. He'd come around the corner to see Devyn just shaking his head at the other teen who was leaning in threateningly, towering over the smaller boy. He suspected that Devyn had done something to piss off the hired hand. If the brat had acted towards this kid the way he'd done with Jason, then Devyn probably d

    Chapter 7

Thank you for all the reviews! I'm glad you are enjoying this story too! Brad is definitely using Devyn and has established control over him by threatening his grandmother --and Devyn knows that he would threaten Michael as well, which leaves Devyn torn between wanting to stay with Michael and keeping him safe. Hope you continue to enjoy!

    Chapter 7

Yes, Jason is pretty naive. And I agree that Chris and Trent are probably so much worse for looking the other way. I know Jason's being pretty obtuse right now, but he eventually starts to question things. It has only been about 4 days at this point. Jason started work on Friday and this is now Monday afternoon, so he's probably still feeling the elation of being indebted to Brad, willing to believe in his 'savior'. Hope Jason's stupidity doesn't keep you from reading more... he does get better, slowly, but he does.

    Chapter 8

Thank you for reviewing. Jason's eyes will start to be opened just a little bit next chapter...

    Chapter 8

It's Michael he hears at the barn door, who to him, sounds like he's threatening Devyn. I'll try to go back and make that more clear. Hopefully the next chapter comes across okay; I had a really hard time writing it, not because it's really bad, but because there are certain things I wanted to convey without giving up too much... if that makes sense.

    Chapter 8

Things will definitely get worse... guess that's a given with the way I write, hehe. Thanks for reading! Next chapter will be up soon--which was honestly the hardest one to write, so I hope it's okay. I think I rewrote it about 3 times... and I still tweak it

    Chapter 8

Chapter 8 Jason cleared his throat, trying to get his shock under control that the kid had finally relented and showed some manners. "Um, yeah, okay. After lunch, okay?" A spark of hope lit the azure eyes as he cast one last look out the window. His hand dropped to his side as he turned away, wiping furtively at his face before turning back towards the stairs. Jason couldn't turn back down the stairs fast enough. This version of the kid compared to the one who'd cussed him out without a
